  1. Fisher Price Little People - the original kind, not the bigger, chunky ones. A toy with so much play value!
  2. This one is pretty good: http://www.macheesmo.com/2010/12/cheese-ball/
  3. I am INFJ, and am expecting my 9th child. When my dh and I first got married, we thought we'd probably only have a couple of kids. But each one is a gift from God, and we enjoy each of them very much. Since we are both introverts, we both find ourselves craving quiet and order in our tiny, noisy and messy house!
  4. I used to read VS all the time back then. I never go there anymore, haven't for several years. I have been reading WTM boards since around 2001. Ha ha, I can remember when everyone was trying to post first when the board changed...
  5. Are you interested in any family history or genealogy? I find that that can be very time consuming (but interesting too!) You can do lots of research online. :grouphug:
  6. Once my son was picking his nose (but not eating the boogers) when he was about 2. When I told him not to because, "boogers are yucky," he replied, "not yucky, Mama, FUN!" LOL!
  7. I love staying up late after everyone else has gone to bed. I love the quiet, the serenity. If I need to get a task finished, I'd rather stay up late to finish it, rather than get up earlier. I feel that the night is available as long as I need it to be to finish. There's only so much time in the morning before everyone else gets up (with their needs, distractions, etc.)
  8. I play guitar and mandolin "by ear", and am learning piano. I've also dabbled with banjo and "fiddle". I would LOVE to really be able to play piano and violin.
  9. My dh's best friend has asked me with every pregnancy, every time he's talked to me, "How are you? Are you still growing in splendor?" LOL. (I have 8 kids, 7 pregnancies...)
  10. One of my pet peeves is people leaving their shoes in the middle of the floor. I can tolerate toys, or even clothes in the floor, but shoes in the middle of the room really bug me!
  11. I have been visiting these boards since 2001 when I started homeschooling. I have a low post count too. I tend to not comment much on message boards, but do a lot of reading. The Well-Trained Mind Message Boards are my favorite homeschooling boards on the internet. I have learned so much. I appreciate you all! :)
  12. Also found an unoccupied mouse nest in a child's shoe once. And that same mouse that built the nest tore up my rabbitfur-lined moccasins to make that nest!
  13. I've had mice do that with rice, and also garbanzo beans. Nothing like finding a shoe full of something!
  14. light colored clothes darks bleachable whites
  15. My family and I help run a YWAM base/retreat center in beautiful Northern California. Our next DTS starts in late September. You can find more info on our website: http://ywammendocino.org/?pagename=DTS My dh and I did our DTS here at YWAM Mendocino in 2008. You can also PM me if you have any questions. :)
  16. My church hosts a potluck every Sunday after service. In the bulletin, they ask everyone attending the potluck to bring a main dish, and a side dish or dessert. There has always been plenty of food. I love this guideline! I work at a retreat center where we hold a potluck every week. Everyone just brings whatever. Sometimes it's been all salads, sometimes everyone brings pasta, sometimes a lot of sides and not many main dishes, sometimes none to little dessert, other times we have a good variety. I have a big family, so I make a lot of food anyways. I always try to follow my church's guideline when I cook for the retreat center potluck. Seems to work well for me. :)
  17. Lived in Co Springs for 7 years and loved it! One thing I really miss about living there is all the great shopping - from malls, craft stores to thrift stores. I loved the scenery (Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods etc) - it's just so beautiful there. I wasn't really involved in any homeschooling groups while there, although I was homeschooling at the time. It is a homeschool friendly city and state. The only thing I didn't really like about living there was winter driving (I'm originally from the desert Southwest) - so I don't like driving in heavy snow or icy roads. However, it isn't a problem that sticks around for too long. The snow usually melts within a few days. In the summer, it is mild, you don't need air conditioning. As far as apple picking - there is a small town south of the Springs (Penrose, I think) that has "pick your own" apple orchards.
  18. My friend is looking for a double wall oven and I am researching for her. There are a ton of them on Craigslist...what are the better brands? Of course we want a good price, but don't mind paying more for a quality product. Thanks for any input!:D
  19. I just bought a used Canon pixma mp780 off Craigslist. I love it. I did some research since I wanted a machine I could easily and cheaply refill. On one ink refilling forum, Canon machines were highly recommended. There are some older Canons which do not have a microchipped cartridge (a chipped cart you have to reset in order to refill). The multipurpose machines recommended were the Canon pixma mp 750, 760, and 780. If you just wanted a printer, they recommended a pixma ip 3000, 4000, or 5000. These were the models I shopped for on Craigslist until something came up. There are other models with a microchip that were recommended as well, but I don't know the numbers since I wasn't shopping for that kind of machine. If you are interested in refilling, I think you should look into getting a Canon... I got a lot of help and info on this forum: http://www.nifty-stuff.com/forum/index.php By the way, I have NOT had good experiences with Lexmark printers, and newer HPs. So, I would not recommend them. :( Hope this helps. :)
  20. I've seen stuff like that whenever I've had a moth infestation in my pantry. :ack2:
