  1. Could be either movies or stand up comedy. We own Tim Hawkins, Brian Regan, and Michael Jr.
  2. So many great ideas! I think I've narrowed it down to a set of bluetooth headphones, this Casio Champagne colored watch (http://www.amazon.com/Casio-Womens-BG169G-4-Champagne-Watch/dp/B008XDC1NU/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1450665390&sr=8-2&keywords=champagne+watch) the ESV Reader's Bible, and several books. Hubby wants to surprise me with a gift certificate. I'm thinking probably massage or pedicure, but can't be sure. And I gave him some little stocking stuffer ideas, too. I've added several of your suggestions to my Amazon wish list! I knew you guys would give me some great ideas!
  3. I've been no help giving him give ideas. I'd love suggestions and / or links to what you're getting this year. Maybe it will spark some great ideas for me. (Brownie points if it's available via Amazon prime!)
  4. Don't know if this has already been asked. I'm not as interested in getting tied down to a live online conference. I much more likely to purchase podcasts when it's all said and done. Will there be any kind of post-conference package deal on all the audio lectures from this conference? I'm very interested in the conference, but it's pretty important for me to be able to listen on my own time, and I'd rather buy a package deal than have to cherry pick individual lectures. Thanks!
  5. I have had gallbladder issues for about 15 years. I've never had a test come back positive for stones or decreased gallbladder function. My internist believes I probably have a lot of gallbladder "sludge" built up. I know it's controversial and many consider it quackery, but I have done multiple gallbladder "cleanses" with great success. And I don't just mean success with regards to what has "come out" in the toilet. (Please forgive me!) About a year after the onset of the pain, I began doing the Hulda Clark liver/gallbladder cleanse every 2 weeks to 1 month. I continued doing so (probably in the neighborhood of 10 times) until the pain was completely gone and I had completed 2 cleanses with no visible results in the toilet. At this point, you're supposed to repeat the cleanse twice annually, indefinitely. I felt completely better, and didn't bother with the cleanses for about 8 years because my symptoms were completely gone. Then they returned. I've done several cleanses since then, but have only ever done 2-3 in a row, just enough to feel better, but not get completely well. Again, I know this is considered quackery by some. I've seen all the online arguments. I know that the pain for me vanished for years, and I know when I go through the whole process, I feel much better. It's just kind of a pain to do, though. As far as symptoms, I have right upper quadrant discomfort. Usually not stabbing pain, but I do get the occasional stabbing pain. I've never had what I think is a classic gallbladder attack. Never been to the ER or anything like that. The pain is definitely worse after eating certain foods. Sometimes it's a dull ache, sometimes it's a pinching sensation, sometimes it's a very full feeling. It's often accompanied by upper right shoulder blade pain, which is a classic gallbladder symptom. When I had a laparoscopic procedure a few years ago, my ob/gyn happened to mention that my gallbladder appeared enlarged. I wasn't surprised. In order for stones to show up on imaging, they have to attain to a certain size and be calcified, as I understand it. It's possible to have a great deal of sludge or "gravel" clogging up the gallbladder. When I have gone long periods between cleanses, I start to have pain shooting down my right leg and hip along with the upper right quadrant pain. I personally think that with my gallbladder being enlarged, there are some nerve issues involved, and that it sometimes presses on other things, causing pain on that side of my body from my back down through my legs. Just a hypothesis. What I take that helps (besides doing the cleanses!): AF Betafood by Standard Process. Just google this as it relates to gallbladder issues, and I think you'll be impressed by what you read. It makes a noticeable difference for me. Gold Coin Grass: I purchase this online from Canada from Prime Health Products Ox Bile from nutricology. Read the reviews on amazon and see if you think this might help. There are lots of folks out there with gallbladder issues, and a whole host of supplements that different people have found helpful. Consider doing one of the cleanses. If you decide to take that route, feel free to PM me for more information. Good luck!
  6. Also, if you have a seller's store, can you post it here? (if that's allowed. if not, don't break the rules!) I'd really love to see for myself what folks here are selling!)
  7. Network with friends who've bought used frequently. DH has a good friend at work ho re-builds cars for a hobby, and has helped several co-workers spot great deals on used cars. Get help if you can. Also, we're going to be splitting the cost of a used car with our 18 year old. I feel strongly about him having an investment in this purchase, even if it's only $1000$1500. Once he gets it, insurance and gas will also be his responsibility. This is the only way we can afford it with 5 sons who will be driving! Insurance is astronomical!
  8. Just curious, since I know many here are looking for work-from-home options (myself included!) I'm interested to hear your set-up if you sell on ebay. What do you sell? How have you sourced merchandise? How many hours/week do you invest and how much are you able to earn per month? I've had good luck in the past re-selling things I buy at garage sales/thrift stores. It can be pretty lucrative if I come across the right stuff, but it's hit and miss. And since it's not the same kind of merchandise each time, I feel like I'm reinventing the wheel when i research listings, photograph, etc...I'd really love something where I was selling the same type of item each time. That would really help streamline photographs, listings, box sizes/shipping, research, etc... Anyhow, I'd love to hear real life experiences of others who are happy with their ebay sales. Thanks! Lisa
  9. Thanks, everyone! I think I'll go the route of buying a pack of fancy paper and printing it up myself. I have the one I ordered from HSLDA last year for my oldest son, and there's literally nothing on there I couldn't print myself exactly the same if I just have some nice paper. They do include a gold star/sticker with a blue ribbon that you cut in half and adhere to the diploma. The star has a verse printed on it. I could easily buy something like this at Hobby Lobby, though. I appreciate all the help and links! Lisa
  10. I ordered from them last year, and needed a rush print job, no less. Even without a rush, my order with shipping comes to about $37.00. There must be a cheaper way to do this.
  11. My oldest son achieved his Eagle rank December 2013, but we didn't really solicit any letters. He did get flags flown over the state and US Capitols. Now my second son is due to be awarded his Eagle Scout in May. I saw something on pinterest indicating that you can ask for letters of congratulations from just about anyone. The ideas flooding my mind are endless. If you did this, who did you ask and how often was it met with success? In addition to local/political leaders, did you go out on a limb and ask any celebrities with success? Thanks so much! Lisa
  12. My husband is demonstrating great wisdom and discernment as a leader. Yes, he leads our own little family very well, but lately, the burden he has been bearing in areas of leadership outside our home has been tremendous. Right now, he is dealing with some very heart-wrenching situations in his roles as Scoutmaster, deacon, and small group leader, as well as a very trying situation with our oldest son. He is an inspiration to me, and I love that especially in the midst of adversity, my boys can see God's faithfulness to bear my husband up and give him great strength in the kinds of trials that most definitely await them, as well, as they mature. Maybe a different kind of awesomeness than you're aiming for, but it's what's been on my mind lately. Love him so much!
  13. I see that it has a bunch of Jim Weiss's stories on there. I have also used it several times over the last month for poetry readings. I've been trying the premium free for a month, but I'm going to need more than just personal music as an excuse to pay a monthly fee. I'd really like to make use of spotify in my homeschool, but would love to hear how others are doing so. Thanks! Lisa
  14. If I understand correctly, a college's "percentage of need met" average includes not only grants and scholarships, but also loans. Forgive me, but I don't really consider that a need met, because we've encouraged my kids to avoid college loans altogether. So for those of you with college kids, how much of their financial aid package consisted of grants/scholarship, and how much consisted of loans? The cost of the college my son wants to attend is around 21,000. Our projected EFC is about 6,000. This college's percent of need met is 77. So, our need would be 15,000, right? And 77% of that need met would be $11,550, leaving the unmet need at around $3,450. So I'm just wondering how much of that $11,550 I should expect to be made up of loans? I know none of the numbers are guarantees...just trying to wrap my brain around what it all means. Thanks!
