  1. They think I'm gullible enough to believe they've detected a problem with my computer :lol:
  2. Pineapple juice or fruit? strong curry? :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:
  3. I emailed it to my kindle & have DD mark her own work. Saves me time & she pays more attention to what she got right/wrong than if I just hand her it back marked.
  4. :grouphug: I hope the new job works out & gives you a little breathing space until you find something even better than you originally thought you were moving for.
  5. I find it's like starting a new job, mentally exhausting until you hit your stride. As you get further along your hs journey, the tough days will be fewer, and you may even occasionally feel like you know what you're doing. ;) I've six years to go with my youngest, and I'm starting to get the hang of this!
  6. I'm planning based on a six day week with an average two flexible days off. Some weeks we'll do more than four days at home, some less. Some of the group activities we love & friends we want to see are 45mins away, so we needed to build in some flexibility. Dh teaches them French & economics, and he also studies at the weekends, so it makes sense for all of us to work & take a day off mid week.
  7. How exciting! If you have enough of a financial cushion that you can cope with a lower income for a short while, covering any additional expenses like paying for your own insurance, then why not give it a go? If it doesn't work out to be what your DH wants to do, he can always go back to the corporate world.
  8. You can edit the start date for your courses so they start after the project. Or you can enter the project as a short course & set it to own the day. Goals for each lesson are entered under 'activities'; for each course you enter the lesson plans & goals in sequence and it allocates it to the next day.
  9. Of COURSE you're counting! Who wouldn't count down to such cuteness?
  10. :hurray::hurray::hurray::hurray::hurray::hurray::hurray::hurray:
  11. How to clean a microwave, and not to leave it to become welded on when your food explodes.
  12. How to look after a friend who's drunk too much. How bank charges are applied. How to avoid going overdrawn. What to do if a condom fails. How to tell if something is still edible without posting a, "would you eat this?" thread & which things to throw out if there's even a shadow of doubt (rice, prawns & chicken)
  13. He could look into a hosting service like webs.com which its used by another forum I visit.
  14. Pencil grips that sto p thumb wrap over, followed by several weeks where I prioritised watching her pencil grip over just about everything else when she was keen to stop using the rubber grip. Art lessons to help with pencil control. Blind drawing has helped a lot. Learning to differentiate between conceptual understanding & memorisation, and not to delay moving on when ready because of the latter -ds was still not 100% on multiplication facts when he started learning calculus.
  15. There is a downside to eating after training: when you collect them from training, have to go straight to hospital for x rays & don't get home til 2am.
  16. If you don't mind gruesome, dd & I are reading the forensic mysteries series by Alane Ferguson. They are about a high schooler who works part time as assistant to the coroner.
  17. We have a set, and whilst we've used it a lot, we've also used jelly sweets, lego, people, etc. A set isn't essential, so don't feel you'd be missing out if you didn't have it, but on the other hand it's nice for if you don't want them to eat the atoms.
  18. Maths: Singapore or MEP, perhaps moving to AOPS later. In general, look for opportunities to go wider or deeper rather than just steaming ahead. Not just textbooks either, puzzles, mystery/detective books, strategy board games, learning to program... Also, have you had your older daughter tested to see if she is 2e? If everyone else in the family is gifted, it's very likely that she is too, but its hidden by her learning challenges.
