  1. Way to go! Dh has signed up for his first half next year. I wish him luck and will be staying with the 5ks.
  2. Drawback to the hybrids is when they need a new battery.
  3. Agreeing with regentrude. Could you sit down with her and each syllabus and help her figure her grades? A lot of schools have online grades now as well. Students in my classes can see their current grade online.
  4. I so miss tags. They were very helpful when researching. I hate that there's something else to prevent tagging :(
  5. Another for the Fit. Ours is a 2010. First new car we've ever owned :)
  6. I lurk a lot and rarely post on another board, so while I "know" the posters there, they have no clue who I am :)
  7. Remember that lots and lots of people lurk and don't post. They may know the forum from reading for years and post only when they have a question. I don't know if that's the case for the OP but it's also a possibility...especially if she's been a member for a while and has a post earlier on a different board.
  8. I didn't read much past Speaker. I think Card started getting too weird in later years and I don't like supporting his personal beliefs by buying his books.
  9. With dh's asthma, he'd go. I'd say stay home if there are hives, eyes watery, nose runny. When the pollen is getting to us, the tissue box is close at hand. I'd say probably go but if he's miserable, come home.
  10. Although I was fine with ds reading Ender's early, I would NOT be okay with Speaker until older. The torture of the piggies is described in far too much detail.
  11. We're doing AoPS algebra now. One of the things I've been most pleased about the texts is that every time I've paused and commented to my son, then as we read on, they make almost the exact same comment within a few pages. There have been very few things I've disagreed with in their approach. (Currently it's showing a check of an equation in a later stage of the problem rather than in ONLY the original.) I've been a lot crankier with other programs I've looked at.
  12. A childhood friend's death at 32 brought this home to me. I'll also agree with 40s being better than 30s overall.
  13. I wish they would have an errata page. However, ds has gotten a good foundation with MCT even with the errors....I've just spent a lot of time searching the forums and old yahoo group. Really wish they'd have an errata page....
  14. I've walked during most of mine. There was only one I ran the whole time.
  15. Epi is the same. I injected my son through his pajamas. One thing I learned is that if you carry the meds for someone else, it's good to practice the injection on someone else. It's only because I'd used the trainer enough that I know I hadn't heard the click and reinjected. My swing was wrong at first and I didn't manage to deploy the auto inject. After that dh and I practiced on each other.
  16. We just moved to the AuviQ as well. Easier to carry and instructions are great if needed. I did inject my son with the Epi. Be sure that whatever you get you practice with the trainer!
  17. I sent that one to my husband Wednesday morning. Tuesday night he'd asked me to stay offline from anything sensitive. He thinks he's fixed what was needed at their office.
  18. Dh works in IT. It's a real problem. I'll be changing all my passwords (sigh). Amazon was affected. There's no way to know if your data was stolen. There are some websites that give updates on whether the bug has been patched on sites. It's pointless to change passwords on a site that hasn't been patched (or you'll have to change your password again after the site is patched). This exploit has been around for a while. There's no way to know if your info has been stolen. Change passwords and use strong passwords.
  19. I really like Standards over US edition. I don't know about the cc changes :P We moved from 5B to Prealgebra and my son was ready for it, so that's a possibility as well. I'd probably try to keep with standards & grab the workbooks now - or have kids do the workbook work on blank paper so workbooks can work for multiple kids.
  20. I like the TI-30XIIS for a basic scientific calculator. It's cheap, has two line display, and if you later need a TI graphing calculator, you're getting comfortable now with key locations.
