  1. Yeah, very much so. Very, umm, Mad Men-esque--beautiful woman in wiggle dress waiting patiently for her all-American man who loves fishing and football...and then the end where the woman is incomplete without her man. I found the meta-message kinda icky, I guess, and was curious what others thought of it.
  2. Ok, how did you guys perceive the relationships between the sexes?
  3. I just saw it with dh. Fun movie, but curious about others' perceptions. :)
  4. I really liked the Yes! bras, made in Canada. They are running bra style, but super comfy and very well made. Can be hard to find here, but worth looking for, IMO. ETA: http://yesbreastfeeding.com:8080/yesbreastfeeding/retail.jsp
  5. When my dc's eczema flares, they use it externally. Just warm it up in a cup set in some hot water and then rub it on. :)
  6. Try the Cree Black mysteries by Daniel Hecht for paranormal-ish. Fun reads. Also, maybe have a gander at Barbara Michaels' novels. They tend toward the paranormal, and though they are perhaps more thriller than mystery novels, they all have a mystery at the center.( This is another pen name of Elizabeth Peters who wrote the Amelia Peabody mysteries.) Dorothy Sayers' short stories are the kind of how'dhecatchem thing I think you're talking about. And many other "golden age" mysteries have this type of story too. (How does one become interested in a type of mystery without regard to the author?)
  7. I bet cathmom means that she is her mother in a legal sense, not that she is truly her MIL as we usually intend it. Right? ;)
  8. I don't like the locution "mommy," so no one in my house has ever called me that. ;) ETA: I called my own mother "mama" until about 14; now my sibs and I call her "Mum."
  9. The only thing on your list I've any interest in at all is the massage. The rest of it---EEEEWWWW, no thanks! But, I've never gotten the massage, either. Waaaah!
  10. Hooray! This part of the upper Midwest is a nice place to be. :)
  11. My hairstylist has this same issue. Maybe it's a condition exacerbated by that type of work? I cannot remember what my stylist had done, if it was medicationally fixable, but it has improved, I think, with whatever treatment she is doing.
  12. I've never done it myself, but a friend of mine took her son to one who did an adjustment from the inside of his mouth. Cleared him right up, took 3 minutes. Personally, I had good success with the services of a homeopath who cleared my dds ear infections as toddlers, when my ped was saying tubes were our only recourse.
  13. Is it possible the teacher is saying "magic trick" for some nifty mathematical step s/he is showing the students?
  14. I think PP is making a distinction between attending every Sunday as a member of the RCC, not as someone who is attending for an occasion such as a funeral or wedding, etc. Clearly those are different matters. But you'd agree that you'd not attend your own church if you were not in fundamental agreement with its teachings, right? The Catholic position on the Eucharist is as fndamental as it gets. :) If one is not in agreement with it, then no, one ought not to be a communicant/member of the Church.
  15. Yeah, flexi-leads are a disaster, whatever collar one uses. Trains the dog into any number of bad habits!
  16. I've liked this one: http://www.100daysofrealfood.com/2010/04/08/super-easy-recipe-whole-wheat-biscuits/
  17. Hugs, KK. Hoping for the best for your sister. Take care of yourself too. :grouphug:
