  1. ME TOO!!! That would have been awesome. But now we go to a park day where I have nothing in common with any of the other mothers so I can sit and read and the kids can play.
  2. I want to say something encouraging. Mine still naps. The day he gives up his nap will be a very sad day. Mine is also content to just hang with me while my daughter is doing school.
  3. I hate historical fiction too. And oh gosh, tell me I HAVE to read a book and I will slog through it. I have read more history books and classic literature as an adult that I actually want to read than I ever read in school. And I was an English major. I was forming a reply in my head as I was reading the others, but then I read your update. I have never used BJU but I know of children who have thrived with it.
  4. Wherever it will fit. And if it isn't rinsed or atleast soaked I will be mad.
  5. This seems like it would be so much fun but there is no way that my landlord would let us. We only have a back patio and there are rules about what we are allowed back there.
  6. I put the sound on high and put my phone into the drink holder so the speaker is amplified. I listen to audio books on my phone with the audible app.
  7. Yeah if you managed to fold and put away all that laundry you'd be my hero. I'm the type to just dump all 10 loads on the couch and we'd be without a couch for a few days. Or months...
  8. I absolutely think that you can wait until after the baby is born. Is the kindergarten one reading yet? I happen to believe that play is best at that age, and listening to great stories. If you are too sick to read there are always audio books.
  9. All that laundry! I'd be exhausted. Plus you had to deal with a dentist. I would have needed a nap.
  10. I think it'll depend on the ages of your children. My daughter is doing a lot more independent work this year, nearly all independent, because I've been sick and pregnant this whole time. But she is also 12. I couldn't even go into my kitchen for months, sometimes even the whole downstairs, so she learned how to cook. If she was younger I would have had to try to make it work somehow.
  11. I'm an ISFJ and that description was almost dead on. I think you are right about how I choose curriculum. However, I'm way to stubborn to outsource. We did though start with a packaged curriculum that I then tweaked and I completely modified our day to accommodate her dance classes. I'm excited to see what book on classical ed you think works best for my personality.
  12. 1. Stand on a stool to change a light bulb or dust a ceiling fan. My knees start to shake and I freak out. 2. Be in a room with a ceiling fan on high speed. 3. Listen to whistling. Absolutely cannot stand it. Both my husband and daughter know that they can whistle as they work all they want as soon as I leave the house. And they do.
  13. Isn't Romeo + Julie the one with Leonardo Dicaprio that has the language with a modern setting? I'd have to google Julian Fellowes. We prefer the Zefferili one. There was one recently with the guy from Gossip Girl as Mercutio but I didn't care for it much. If I remember correctly the language was summarized and it just seemed off. Edit after I googled Julian Fellowes... That's the one I was thinking about. Gossip Girl guy is Ed Westwick as Tybalt, not Mercutio.
  14. My boy will be three in August. I'm currently looking for the best play dough recipe, gathering nursery rhymes, contemplating a seasonal book basket and display (may wait until he is 4), researching how to potty train boys, and putting together his "school notebook," basically a binder with paper that is all his own. Edit: he will also play lots and learn how to be a helpful big brother. And share. Fingers crossed. Haha!
  15. I'm due around then. As long as I don't give birth that day I'm all set. I'd rather not have a leap year baby.
  16. My daughter has home ec as a subject. I don't think my kitchen would be as clean as it is without it. I wipe the bathroom down at the end of the day and we have atleast one quick tidy at the end of the day to put away all the toys and everything. If someone dropped by unexpectedly they would definitely see a mess. But that is because we LIVE here.
  17. It comes out nearly halfway between my birthday and Christmas! I don't know if it's gonna be an early Christmas or a late birthday present. But I'm so excited!
  18. It'll come naturally, I think. My daughter's middle name is Elizabeth and for the longest time she wanted to go by Beth. I think it is a very pretty name.
  19. My daughter is like that. If I try to change it, like tell her that she only has an hour for math and she can just finish tomorrow, she looks at me like I'm insane because she wants to finish it all now. But I say, "you can't do just math all morning!" She loves it, is very math brained, and is sloooooow lots of days.
  20. We follow the WTM recs now. I even got the second edition from the library cause I prefer it to the third edition. I think we are a lone wolf.
  21. Reminds me of all the memes about Firefly's early cancelation. Fall in love with a show only to learn that that's it!
  22. I've taught in a preschool and in a middle school. There isn't much difference. My two kids are completely different and each stage has their own work and challenges. My oldest is only 12 though.
