  1. She might be blessed with an iron tummy. My dh can eat just about anything and be fine. Fingers crossed!
  2. If it is a formal wedding, there will be lots of black dresses.
  3. When I don't follow a rule, I feel so guilty about it.
  4. A flocked tree with lights does not need ornaments, in my opinion.
  5. love his songs and some of my favorite memories involve someone playing his songs on a guitar and everyone joining in. We had Annie's song and Follow Me as music before our wedding started. (Maybe I was weird but I had a lot of folks sing before the actual wedding started)
  6. I did Thanksgiving "light" on Wednesday night - I served what my family likes best (made Chicken instead of turkey). I loved getting all the food ready for a dinner time instead of a 1:00 pm time. On Thursday, I made pumpkin pancakes and turkey sausage and decorated the Christmas tree with any of the kids who wanted to come over. We joined extended family for dessert later that day. (then traveled on Friday to other family)
  7. It sounds like DO fits the bill for what you want.
  8. Costco has a good deal on battery operated candles - they give off a lovely warm glow. (I love the fall and getting dark early but I live pretty far south)
  9. Not for me - I would need a bigger car for sure and bigger everything.
  10. read to them My mom and my dd each had the same book and dd would read one page and then my mom would read a page. It was so great! Take the kids as muchh as possible. When the family comes to visit - suprise the mom and dad with a night out or even a hotel stay and keep the kids. Do silly things like backwards day - eat dessert, then dinner - end with breakfast..
  11. I have no idea what to do to prepare for WW3. Taking care of some health issues and making dr. appointments now and getting into bettter shape both physically and mentally.
  12. Can you afford a tutor? Someone neutral to work with her and see what the problem is?
  13. For our son - YES! For our middle child - a daughter - no - but only because she was super easy to live with and we got to chat a lot more; now it is harder to find time to just casually be together
  14. And, my dd is getting married in June, fireworks are common in areas without ordinacences.
  15. Zoo Atlanta will be the only place in the US to see panda bears - so make sure you check it out. Go to the GA aquarium, too. Little Five Points and Decatur will be fun! History stuff: MLK house and Auburn Ave is nice; Jimmy Carter presidential library is also really cool. The Atlanta Bontanical Gardens is beautiful and a great walk in Piedmont park. The Beltway is worth a visit. The CDC has a museum, and Emory has small but amazing Egyptian museum. The Center of Puppetry Arts could be of interest if you have younger kids.
  16. I thought you lived near the Braves Stadium in Geogria and that you were my secret neighbor! - ha ha! Earlier today my mom asked why the Braves would have had fireworks after they lost; I told her it was the Smyrna festival. (not happy about the loss BTW)
  17. If you have hardback books, take off their jacket, so they can add height. Your candlesticks are nearly the same color as your brick; would you want to paint them to have them stand out? I agree - group all the candles on one side and the pumpkins on the other. Maybe just use one plant...
  18. If you live near Smyrna - it might have been the Jonquil festival.
  19. If you want to splurge.. the advent calendar from Anthropolgie is INCREDIBLE for college age women.
  20. I would not - they would still need to practice if they went to school in a building. I also would not 'count' the morning meeting or singing time either. But then again, I did not count hours, I 'counted' getting through the assignment with understanding. Some days were long and some were shorter. Sometimes work spilled into the weekend...
  21. Don't think this will count... a student of mine (and dd's friend), dad lived in the basement and mom upstairs. The catch is they did not tell their daugther they were divorced (and they were divorced before they moved into the house which is in the mom's name). They told her it worked better for their work schedules. Mom traveled internationally often, and dad was usually gone on weekends... not sure where. It was not healthy.
  22. I am saving (or working more) for some money for two events next June - my daughter's wedding and a trip to Alaska.
  23. Just FYI... for a DIY I converted 1/2 our garage into a homeschool space for very little money. I used the other 1/2 for storage. We hired someone to put up a wall. We put in the installation and wall board - including a giant white board all (it was awesome). For the floor I used a vapor barrier and then a layer of foam pads like you use for a home gym. Then topped it with carpet. It had a space heater in the winter and a portable air conditioner in the summer. I think this was less than $3000 and bonus for you - you wouldn't have to go up and down to the basement with a baby to homeschool. Could you then make the basement into a bedroom and living space? And by the way- check your building codes for bedrooms - we learned for a bedroom to be a 'bedroom' for safety purpose it has to have two exits; usually a window or a door, but it could be two doors.
  24. FYI - buy it now - you can return it later if you don't want to put it up now.. Costco has a great return policy
