  1. Thank you. You bring up good points. I would like her to finish WWS2 and was not sure how to integrate that with AHL. World geography sounds intriguing and I think she would enjoy it. Recommendations for a curriculum?
  2. My eldest DD will be in 8th grade next year and will be 13.5 years old in the fall of 2014. I am considering starting her in MFW AHL for 8th. I know it is a high school level course but we are at a point in history where I am not sure what to do for 8th as we are finishing up Modern history this year.(7th) She is at or above grade level in all subjects. She is very capable and needs challenge. Academics seem to come fairly easy to her. We tried Omnibus but I became pregnant and was not able to be as involved as I needed to be and we found it VERY dry. Is this a feasible idea for a bright 8th grader? Would it work better for me to split it into two years? I will also have a 1st grader and a new baby. 1st grader will be in STOW 1. Thanks in advance for your input.
  3. My husband gets migraines. He takes a blood pressure medicine daily as a preventative. He does not have high blood pressure but they told him it helps keeps the blood vessels less restricted. He Maxxalt instead of Imitrex. I am exactly not sure why the doctor chose it but I do know that the doctor suffered with migraines himself. My husband has been known to get one after having to much sugar. It seems that anything that throws his body off kilter, such as spiking blood sugar, will trigger one. Not always but i is more likely. I hope that you recover soon :grouphug: :grouphug:
  4. With my first I had spotting around 8-9 weeks. I was terrified. They had me come in and did a US and all was well. I am 0- blood type so I got a Rhogam at the same time. I was told that it was possible that since my hubby is AB+ that the rhogam would help prevent a loss if one was starting. That DD is now 12. I have had another child (DD5) and am pg with my 3rd DD. Never had any bleeding in the subsequent pregnancies. I have Kaiser Permanete out here in CA and we have learned that if you do not want to go to the hospital do not bother calling. At least during pregnancy anyway.
  5. I am so sorry. :grouphug: :grouphug: That is too much power for one man. Our church NEVER brings up financial issues individually. Yes they keep track of our giving but only so that they may send out amount to tithers for tax purposes. It is between God and you how much and who you give to. I am also sorry that he would not listen. I hope you can find a church that you can feel welcome in. I will pray for you. Jenn

  7. He had been there 300 years. It grew back. I was disappointed with it. But I do tend to suspend logic for Doctor Who. ;) I wanted more of an entrance for Capaldi. 10 and 11 immediately showed their personality after regeneration. Capaldi's personality is that he hates the color of his kidneys?
  8. I have rosacea and my nose becomes like you are describing with out my topical and a low dose daily antibiotic. I am pregnant now and cannot take the antibiotic and I look like Rudolph. I have dry flaky skin coming off my nose like a sunburn peel but it hurts. Don't know it this might apply to you but I thought I would share.
  9. My boxer breeder described a boxer as a bowl of jello held together by rubber bands. At 9 months they are like energizer bunnies. I second and third the exercise advice and want to give you a :grouphug: . The puppy is nervous and out of sorts even if his energy masks it. Attention from your DD and playing will hopefully help calm him down. Jenn
  10. I love brussel sprouts. Steamed, roasted any way but this is my favorite. I love it so much i only make it at the holidays because I will eat the whole batch myself. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/brussels-sprouts-with-bacon-and-cheese-recipe/index.html
  11. I will say that I am about an hour north of San Francisco in Northern California. Our Costco has a large selection of organic produce, meats and many other organic items. I was just in there about an hour ago.
  12. The main issue in the OP's scenario is not that he refused the search when asked. If the LEO have then proceed to search after consent had been denied then the officer would be at fault. But because the nephew then got himself arrested, the previous denial is null and void. It would be hard to find a jurisdiction that does not allow a search of the vehicle after an arrest. At that point the search is for inventory and to make sure that there is nothing dangerous in the car while it is in impound. Everything found is then allowed in as evidence. It does not matter if the car belongs to someone else because the current driver had control of the car. Now, if an item was found that the current driver(non-owner) of said car denies ownership of then it is a matter for the jury or judge to decide if that is reasonable or if they believe the person. Officers cannot arrest you declining a search but it can arouse suspicions and they can change interview tactics to get answers. Officers are trained to use many different techniques to get the information they require. ETA:Typos.
  13. The cop asked before the the resistance. As soon as he resisted he gave the cop the right to do either a safety search and or a search pursuant to arrest. Cops have more latitude in a traffic stop than a house search due to safety concerns.
  14. My husband is in law enforcement and has told me some bad guys knock and wait to scope out your situation before deciding to act. To the OP. I do not answer the door and it does give me the willies when someone unexpectedly knocks at my door.
  15. Mine was Pete's Dragon. It was released in 1977 and I was only 3 then but we lived in England on a military base so I could have seen it some time in 1978.
  16. I have baked them. They slip out of their skins for me. I never boil them but I have steamed them as I will today as my oven is full.
  17. I have brined the turkey, made the cranberry sauce, the rolls are rising. I am going to assemble the green bean casserole and the sweet potatoes.
  18. I am 19 weeks with our "oops". It is baby #3. My hubby had a bit of a hard time at first. We did not talk about it much but as my ever expanding belly is marching forward he has calmed down. I did not freak out or get upset at him for being upset and I think that helped him. Congratulations
  19. In my part of Nor Cal on the weekends we have one animal control officer for a VERY large county. I would call my husband and police and see what they say. My hubby would take care of putting it out of it's misery. As far as the meat it fish and game takes the deer if the feel like coming and getting it. Most often they do not. And although humans don't eat the meat I would not call it wasted because the carcass feeds many other animals for about a week. I hit a squirrel once but it only smashed it arm and it was flopping. It was on a empty country road and I could not leave it. I put in reverse and ran over it again. I just couldn't leave it.
  20. This really does sound like my DD. Nothing on the blood test and was worse later in the day. I really hope that the insurance people hurry up!
  21. I plan for two weeks. DH gets paid every two weeks so I plan for that pay period. What we like to eat is not usually on sale much so I plan what we will actually eat and if it on sale it is a bonus. I figure I am not saving by buying thing that just rot or get thrown out.
  22. My DH is a deputy sheriff. He has worked his fair share of holidays. He has enough seniority now to not have to work unless he wants to. They have sign ups about 2 weeks before the holiday and if not enough people sign up then they "draft" people starting with the lowest in seniority. DH is way up that list so it is rare now for him to have to work.
