  1. Thank you! 😄 Both of your replies are very helpful- I agree that we do need to get a horse for her...except she isn't willing to sell her pony yet! Unfortunately there is NO way for us to have 3 horses (we have a mini that is pony's barn mate) so we can't even begin to shop for a horse until she is ready. She is quite attached to her (I am too to be honest-HA!) so I have no idea how this is going to pan out....sigh. 😄 She does ride comfortably, but yes, she does look a little...ridiculous...riding her. My dd doesn't seem to mind as much as her trainer though. Either way, thank you for pointing out that her height is the bigger issue as I was just focusing on the weight limit. ETA- thank you Creekland! I was questioning the Shetlands not built for riding comment that the gal popped off to me...it didn't sound right. Thank you for clarifying that.
  2. We are somewhat new at this horse showing stuff so I would like another opinion from the hive.... My daughter has shown her Shetland pony in several shows now and has recently begun entering in the English riding classes of the shows. After this last show an individual told me that she (my daughter) shouldn't be riding the pony because Shetlands are NOT meant to be shown. They aren't built for riders. We never encountered this kind of info before and certainly don't want to injure her pony by her riding it. The pony is 11.2 hands and my DD is 5'2 (so yes, she is tall for the pony) The pony weighs about 500 lbs and my dd weighs 90 (we were told to go by the 20% rule for weight limit). So- is it correct that she shouldn't be riding the pony (she isn't too heavy for it) due to the breed not being meant for that kind of activity? Thanks for any perspective or info you might have. 😄
  3. Great question....I have no idea though! 😄
  4. Bravecto Pricey, but is said to work very well It is a on oral tablet taken every three months that is for both flea and ticks
  5. I love those colors....I think they would be fun to use.
  6. I've had luck purchasing my long, lightweight cardigans from Macys and Target-
  7. No family camp for us this year. 😕 I don't ride, but want to. My daughter rides and takes weekly lessons. She participates in a few shows when the weather is good. We own two ponies (I'm too heavy to ride them). They are a ton of fun to have but also a lot of work. We are incredibly blessed to have them! Our plan is to sell the two ponies and get a horse....but....not sure how that is all going to work out since my DD is completely and utterly in love with both of them. She's getting taller by the day so at some point she won't be able to ride them anymore...
  8. It is so hard to know sometimes. I'm so sorry. 😢 One thing I would suggest is to take a look at the gums- if they are pale or even white it's time to take him in at least to have it checked out. Many, many hugs-
  9. I was so tired when I started my ssri that it wasn't even safe to drive for a few days at least. I'm very sensitive to this kind of medication and started with just a 1/4 of my dose and still had this side effect. Try to stick with it if you can.
  10. Aha! That makes sense as I am in the process of healing my adrenals.
  11. That's actually a great question- 😄 I know chicks can be sexed to a high degree of accuracy, however I don't know about eggs. I do know that if you came up with a rooster or two, you can very easily get rid of them through craigslist. No help for your original question though....
  12. This is me too. The only thing that helped was natural progesterone cream. I slept SO well while using that. I'm not currently taking it per my naturopath's recommendation, and the early morning wake-ups are back. I want so badly to start using it again.... Sorry OP and PPs....all I have is commiseration.
  13. I don't do anything fancy with it. I just print out the study guides and have them available for each lesson as my son works through them. For the most part he has done it independently in that he writes the answers to each question down. Some some webisodes are more conducive to discussion than others, and there are a handful that don't have accompanying study guides. I really like that he is asked to dig a little more on each subject with their Internet research questions. It is by far his favorite subject! He frequently calls me to the computer to watch a webisode segment that he found to be especially fascinating. Good luck and have fun with them!
  14. I believe Bill Nye has videos online, and if iirc, there are some geared more for your age group Also, my 5th grader is really enjoying Jonathen Bird's Blue World online videos. Included on his website are lesson plans and discussion questions for each webisode
  15. Rhode Island Reds Cochins Americauna White Leghorns Buff, light, and dark brahmas Silver and gold lace wynadottes (hoping to get some red blue laced ones this spring from tractor store) Cuckoo Marans Jersey giant Some we got at tractor store and some we raised last year. We are hoping to hatch a few here at home this year as well grab some different breeds from the store. We â¤ï¸ ðŸ“ðŸ“ðŸ“!
  16. Could someone refer me to a website from which I could order a personal vitamin d test? 😀 Thanks!
  17. Unfortunately I don't know what blend was used. I have done a fair amount of research and I'm finding lots of info on both sides. I know it is dangerous to plant next to it, just tying to see if it is even wise to plant three feet near it in a raised bed. I'm leaning towards tearing down the wall and replacing it with something safer. And these beams appear to be fairly new, not bleached from the sun. Ugh.
  18. I have a level area of land where I want to place some garden boxes. They will be raised about 1 foot or so, and will be constructed out of pine or cedar. Anyway, the retaining wall near it is made of railroad ties. My concern, of course, is the leaching of the creosote into the soil. The boxes will be three feet from the base of the wall. Would you cover the railroad tie retaining wall with cedar planks (this would be for the smell issue as opposed to the leaching issue)? Would you line your boxes with a food grade liner even though there will be three feet of space as well as raised boxes? Would you even chance gardening here or remove those ties? I'm really torn over this and need some advice.... Edited for spelling mistake...😎 Thanks!
  19. Busymama- I realized that you may be taking something different than I after reading your original post. I'm using the progesterone cream. That said, I do know that when I used it daily for several cycles, my ovulation was not inhibited at all. 😊
  20. When I first started I used it everyday for a few cycles to build up my levels. I now only use it during my last two weeks of my cycle.
  21. This sounds like me before being diagnosed with polyps. They are benign and "can" be helped with progesterone cream, but I would definitely see a doc for an ultrasound scan to rule them out.
  22. I've had two done, and with the most recent I had that kind of bleeding. It turned out to be my period though. I spotted about two days then bam! Onslaught of what turned out to be (unexpected) period. All that to say that I agree with pp, if this isn't your regular period, then yes, please call in.
  23. I just received our power bill.... Yep. I'm done.
