  1. Yellowrose- thank you! â¤ï¸ This is perfect. I'm using it as the foundation from which I'm going to build my discussion with ds. After I add on everyone else's input, this is going to be one heck of an amazing articulation of my BEEF! Lol!
  2. This is the only fundraiser they are choosing to do this year because all the others they have done in the past (you know, ones that require the kids to actually "work" for it) were too much trouble. This said by the coach at the parent meeting. This is a small, well-to-do community. These kids have brand new fields, brand new everything, to play on. Any fundraising they do is to add more bells and whistles on to the program. I don't necessarily have a beef with that particular aspect, but just thought I would add that.
  3. Yes, they are absolutely aware of it. The team did this "fundraiser" last year and since we were new, we grudgingly obliged. I was ashamed and embarrassed, to be honest. I felt backed into a corner. No, I don't want to give out this information, but no, I don't want my kid, who is new to the team, earn the ultimate reputation for not "playing the game" because his mom drew the line. Ugh! This year I'm a little bolder and have that "40-something" rage going (another thread 😄) so I am quite honestly thinking of making my concerns known. I just need to figure out the best way to do so.
  4. Amanda-You are very kind to offer up your email. Even with your permission, I couldn't use it in good consience! Lol! I like the idea of giving everyone on the list a heads up.
  5. Ds16 is on the jv baseball team. They have a "fundraiser" that requires each team player to submit 20 email addresses of friends and family. These friends/family members are then sent an email from the school requesting donations. Coaches warn the team that any player not submitting these addresses will be responsible for the "punishment" of the entire team (running laps, etc.). I've instructed my son to NOT send any emails to my personal friends. I find it....tacky...to say the least. He is, of course, NOT happy with me and cannot understand why it is "such a big deal". He managed to come up with a list that didn't include family members or family friends, but I'd still like to articulate to him why this bothers me so.... Help! Also, is isn't a JAWM. If you feel this is a legit way to earn money, by all means, share your thoughts!
  6. I'm NOT liking your posts because I'm happy you are all paying these crazy amounts....just completely agreeing with ya!
  7. Good question- 4 grand was before insurance....but I'm still paying a hefty chunk. I'm thankful for the insurance I have though....😄
  8. Sigh....okay then. Sounds like it is about "right". This is insane. It just caught me off guard because my portion of the bill is just about the same as my portion of the surgery to remove the sucker (thankfully it was benign). Thank you for your input!
  9. Does a charge of over 4 grand sound right for a breast biopsy? The majority of the charge is for operating room use, but I wasn't technically in an OR. I was in the regular room where they ultrasound your breast and was given a local anesthetic. I know medical costs are high, but this seems outrageous for a procedure that lasted less than 30 minutes. Am I just THAT out of touch???
  10. After 7 years of taking the smallest dose possible of an ssri, I've recently began increasing it due to my anxiety levels climbing. Diligent self-care has allowed me to get by with that minimum dose, but no longer. My doctor attributed it to aging and hormones (I'm a decade older than you though).
  11. Laurel- Good point about the patches...I had forgotten about that- definitely something to check.
  12. Thank you , Beaniemom. I agree that there shouldn't be a "Protestant" or "Catholic" troop, but it is very much like that in my area. Our current troop is 100% Protestant. The "Catholic" troop we are considering is very much Catholic. They have a longer history in the area and are very well established. We have joined them the last several summers and there was a very distinct difference between our troops (it is absolutely not a problem or even a concern of mine at all, but the difference was clearly evident). This is our only experience with AHG so I assumed it was like that elsewhere.
  13. My dd14 has been involved with AHG for 3 years and is now contemplating switching to a troop that will better support her goal of earning her SS in 3 years. The troop she might be interested in is Catholic, while the one she currently attends is Protestant. Our question is is there a possibility that she won't "fit" in with the troop being that she doesn't follow the Catholic faith (we are Protestant)? Anyone btdt in terms of being an active member of a troop that followed a different faith? Any words of wisdom to possibly help me prepare her for what to expect? Thanks!
  14. Listening in as I have resorted to keeping an extra shirt on my nightstand for middle of the night changes.
  15. 😢 I'm so sorry.... This same scenario played out 9 years ago (to the day almost) with my sweet lab. Rupert. What a lovely name. â¤ï¸
  16. Praying! â¤ï¸â¤ï¸â¤ï¸â¤ï¸
  17. Echoing what others have said...recovery is pretty much sleeping off the anesthesia. I've also had several benign polyps removed and recovery has been the same each time. Those stupid things keep coming back though.....
  18. Kiddos place a boot outside their bedroom doors and we fill them with German candy/cookies purchased from Cost Plus World Market.
  19. I'm so glad he is okay. He very well may be flakey, but he is also incredibly inconsiderate...especially given that your attempts to contact him went unanswered.
  20. I spent many years with this kind of thinking on the part of the in-laws. As suggested already, politely decline. ETA- I became fiercely independent over the years due to this kind of nonsense.
  21. Im so sorry. I often wonder how many people don't attend church regularly due to allergies to seasonal plants that are displayed throughout the year.
  22. I just found out that this was due to a wedding that had occurred there yesterday. They didn't have time to replace all the regular seating before this morning's service. PHEW!!!! It must have been one gorgeous wedding though!
