  1. Always (with Holly Hunter) - I would say it's poignant like Ghost About A Boy Intouchables - still foreign but nice Amelie (another foreign film) Little Miss Sunshine Sleepless in Seattle (may be a little too RomCom) Ferris Bueller's Day Off My Cousin Vinny Muriel's Wedding Groundhog Day Death at a Funeral- the British version is hilarious Wrestling Ernest Hemingway Man on the Train (French Film) The Castle (Australian) Strictly Ballroom (Also Aussie) Bend It Like Beckham Bran Nu Dae (Aussie - I happend upon it on TV)
  2. This. We've had several trees removed. None of them cost less than $1000 where I live.
  3. I have a 4 season sunroom now. When we bought the house it was 3 season room with baseboard electric heat. We add a window AC unit in the summer and installed a gas fireplace for winters. I'm happy with it. I probably don't use it as much as I thought I would when we first moved here. That's partically becuase it takes a lot to heat up or cool off the room. It's a big room with a very high cathedral ceiling. But, if it was just a screened in porch I would probably use it much less. A lot of your use may depend on where you live.
  4. I'm a side-sleeper too but I have neck issues. I like those memory foam contour pillows... like this: https://www.target.com/p/standard-essentials-alwayscool-memory-foam-contour-pillow-linenspa/-/A-81133327#lnk=sametab I cannot sleep well with any kind of traditional pillow. I've also just begun using silk pillow cases because I keep hearing how it it better at helping prevent hair breakage. I have a lot of breakage on that side of my head. I'll know in a few months if it really works though.
  5. I'm glad you asked this question because I felt the same way as you did. I was so surprised by all the awards it won.
  6. I'm so sorry. I have no words of wisdom. Just hugs.
  7. Makes me sad. My first serious boyfriend introduced me to Van Halen. He was a huge fan. This news makes me very nostalgic and sad today.
  8. I have to log in a lot too. Not as much as you, but still... I don't know why it can't ever remember me like other sites. It is annoying, frustrating, and tedious - and also trivial.
  9. It seems harder to read today. It's very light.
  10. What I've been reading about autoimmune is that it often triggered by a stress reaction in the body. It would make sense that, if she was eating something that she was allergic or senstive to, it would create constant stress hormones (corisol?) in her body. Over time could cause an autoimmune reaction.
  11. I have not heard of that diet or doctor, but I'm currently reading "Brave New Medicine: A Doctor's Unconventional Path to Healing Her Autoimmune Illness" by Cynthia Li. I think the idea of reversing some of these issues is starting to gain some traction. I hope it works. I haven't gotten far enough into the book to know exactly what she does. I first saw her interviewed by a well-known doctor who preaches Keto and Intermittent Fasting so I assume she does something along those lines.
  12. I'm finally finding some time to do work on 2 looms I'm' refinishing. My newly engaged daughter and her fiance came for dinner tonight. The weather has been spectaular the last couple of days.
  13. Scarlett, I am so sorry for your loss
  14. He's a world leader and is out in the public all.the.time. It was only a matter of time before he contracted it, IMHO.
  15. I'm finally back in after having trouble yesterday and this morning. WTM said on their FB page that if you don't see your correct username then try logging out and back in again.
  16. I agree. I have found that as I've aged I like the stronger flavor of the %78+ more. I can't eat milk chocolate anymore either. I definitely would not have thought that about myself when I was younger.
  17. I prefer 78% but was starting to get used to 85% when I stopped eating sugar. It's hard to find sf (stevia) chocolate in those percentages. Lindt is the only one with that high percentage.
  18. I have the same policy as @Quill But, I would have probably done the same as you - LENT the machine expecting that one back. Sorry it went so sourly. There really are people who don't do that but they seem to be few and far between. 😞
  19. No new grandbabies for me during the pandemic, but I have 3 friends whose kids had babies. Two friends are helping with child care so they've gotten to see their new grandbabies. However, this was not the first child for either mom. One is a school teacher and she's doing virtual schooling. Grandma (my friend) is watching both grandkids full time. The other grandma has "grandma preschool" with her 3 grandkids (2 different families) twice a week. They are the most isolated though. They do very little outside of the family - they own a family business, which makes it easier. Other husbands are working from home. The third friend lives several states away from new grandbaby. It is the parents first. But, when baby was baptized grandma flew to state, isolated for 10days at an Airbnb, went to baptism but stayed 6 feet away (I don't think she got to hold her new grandbaby ☹️), then flew home a few days later and isolated again.
  20. what Quill said. It is also very homeschool friendly.
  21. yes ! I look. I'm so discouraged because we consistently come out at 40% higher than "similar houses in your area". We've made upgrades like LED lights, added insulation, and I hardly use the dryer. But, we'rer still high. I think it's our A/C though. I think the previous own put in an A/C unit that is too large for our home (It's bigger than any one we've had in larger houses).
  22. A dr. friend of mine gets it twice in one year. I think he gets it twice at the same time but I don't know for sure. I only know because it came up in a discussion with other friends and they mentioned him getting jabbed twice.
  23. This is a good reminder for everyone that this place *is not private*!!! This is not the first time something like this has happened to one of our members. I can't believe how much personal information people are willing to divulge here. Maybe now people will stop asking where other members live, or how much their family makes (yes a real question once - i think it was part of a poll), or any other mirade of awkward questions. /off my soapbox
  24. I am sometimes nostalgic for the house we raised our kids in. I didn't even like the house very much but it did have a lot of happy memories. I'm still glad I'm where I am at, but I agree that it does happen.
  25. Are you happy with the camera? That seems to be a consistent complaint about it.
