  1. I first heard about it because of Jordan Peterson... but here's a website that talks about it: https://blackbearrehab.com/blog/what-clonazepam-addiction-does-to-a-person/
  2. Also, Carbmanager is a good tool to track your intake. It will calculate your fat, protein, and carb intake. It may provide you some guidence as to where you are slacking on good fats/protein.
  3. Sounds like we're on a similar journey.... aka my thread about 24hr fasting nut butters fat bombs beef bone broth
  4. Yes, I realized you were talking about sleep walking. I still wonder if a sleep specialist who specialises in PLM would be beneficial. My undertanding is that PLM is an umbrella dx of which Restless Leg and other issues cover. It may even cover your husband's issues, I just don't remember at this moment. If you wanted to avoid drs. you could try and research recent studies that include PLM as well as REM sleep bahavior disorder. I would avoid Clonazepam for anything more than a few nights. I hear scary things about it for long (more than 2 weeks) term use.
  5. From the research I've been hearing they have found that less than 30%(iirc) of Hashi is genetic and the majority of it is stress hormone related. I'll see if I can find the study. Its just that i've been reading and watch so much lately, that I don't know if I can sift through all of it to find that. Basically said, if a person has had a stress episode, which could include illness, PTSD, difficult pregnancy, etc... they are at greater risk of developing Hashis (and Fibromyalgia). The protocol for auto-immune seems to be to try and fix the gut. So yes, beef broth and elimiation diets to find the triggers. Look up Dr. Rutherford and his "Cut through the BS" series- They are really long, but worth the time. Esp. the one on Hashis. He has Hashis, Epstein Barr, and Fibro so he comes at it from the point of view of a patient. His partner at the practice is the one who does a lot of the research and going through the studies. Neither seem to be into air, organic spinach, and moonlight either. I don't know what you're talking about.
  6. Have you recently been to a sleep specialist who specialises in PLM rather than apnea? They may have some new research that helps with that particular issue.
  7. what do you put it in? I have some psyllium husk and put it in water and it turned to nasty mush. It was undrinkable/inedible. I 've been using Beneifiber but I am worried since it's wheat based. Everything I run across regarding hashis says to eliminate wheat. But, it has been a game-changer for my diverticulitus.
  8. Thank you @BeachGal for that detailed information. It is very helpful @Amy in NH 28 day fast - whoa. That is a long one. It seems to me that many people who do the 24hr fast are only eating one meal a day - so consecutive 24 hr fasts. At least from what little I've learned so far. @Katy - I thought probiotics were supposed to help with constipation. Ugh. That's the last thing I need right now. 😞
  9. Oh man, my son would have responded the same. Total meltdown. There's definitely been some anxiety inducing bumps for us too at his college, but not as bad as this one. hugs. I hope they call you back ASAP
  10. I stumbled upon Jason Fung and have watched a few interviews/videos with him. I will look up Valter Longo too. Thanks for the tips and advice! Edited to add: What is a "fast-mimicking" diet? Is that super low cal (500 or less?). I used to do the 5/2 diet, but struggled to find my rthythm.
  11. No, I had not seen that thread. Thanks for taking the time to find it. Very enlightening. I am taking Floraster right now.
  12. I've never liked pickles or sauerkraut and haven't tried kombutcha because of it. I do eat yogurt from time to time. I have been thinking that maybe it's time to hold my nose and eat some pickles.
  13. I've gone down the nutritional rabbit hole on YT trying to deal with some of my auto-immune and intestinal issues. LC has worked for me in the past, but I think I need to step it up a notch from what I'm reading. I'm tired of being tired and achy all the time. I'm tired of ending up in the ER every 6 mos. I started watching YT about Keto and Hashitmotos and discovered that Hashis and gut issues are linked... and then discovered some drs. who promote fasting for health (Dr. Mindy Pelz for instance). Anyone done more than intermittent fasting? I'm talking about 24-48hr fasts for health benefits. Weight loss is certainly a nice side-benefit, but I'm talking about gut health, etc. FWIW, I'm not interested in the Carnivore diet (Lion diet??). I think I'd end up with a colostomy bag if I did that. I definitely need good veggies for my gut health. Right now I've been in pain since I had another trip to the ER with Diverticulitus about 2weeks ago. The pain area has moved from the original site to another site - just basically feeling awful. Meds have messed up my gut. Probiotics seems to make me bloat... is that normal?
  14. What I use: One and Only Argan Oil conditioner - this is the smaller bottle. Even my hair stylist noticed a positive difference. comb with a wide-toothed comb with the conditioner in it in the shower before rinsing. Helps greatly to avoid breakage. Once my hair has started to dry put in a good hair oil/cream.. This is my favorite: Su Uemera Nourising Hair cream It's expesive. Most nights I put argan or moroccan oil on my hair and sleep on it - or I put it on in the morning and wait 30 to an hour or more to wash my hair. This is the one I use: Moroccan Oil hair treatment Here's a cheaper version: Agadir Hair Treatment Finally, I try to do a hair mask about 1-2x per week. Again, I like the One and Only's hair mask. I'm about to try two new ones: Kerastase and Moroccan Oil Hair Mask. none of this stuff goes on the scalp. I put it mid-shaft down - consentrating on the ends.
  15. This makes me so very happy. I love camp crocs... 💗
  16. Vent away... I totally get it. I'm having the same selfish moments this year on different subjects.
  17. congratulations and welcome to the grandma club!!
  18. I've been called about 3-4x in my life. I have yet to serve. I don't think my dh has been called in the 35yrs we've been married. My middle daughter (29) has been called up about 3 times. It is crazy. She's now moved to another state so I think it might get better.
  19. My kids were homeschooled in the 90s... I may relate to some of that 🤣
  20. I'm glad it hasn't dragged on longer. Hugs.
  21. It is unacceptable for a child that age to have to sit online school for that long. My granddaughter was supposed to go to full day virtual kindergarten in her county. Her parents have pulled both their kids out of public and enrolled them in a virtual religious school which requires much less screen-time. It's amazing how no one in authority is talking about excessive screen-time in kids anymore.
