  1. Does anyone know why they are discontinuing these? Are they planning to update them or replace them with something else? I had been planning to use these but am hesitant to buy all of them now since I am not sure I will love them. Those of you who use them can you tell me more about them and what you love about them? We are currently using Horizons Math which includes word problems. Would there be any benefit to adding the CWP? I would appreciate any wisdom you could share with me. Thanks and bless you.

  8. I will second the recommendation for the Nora Gaydos books. There are prereading levels as well as the "Now I Am Reading" levels. http://www.amazon.com/Now-Reading-Playful-Pals-Level/dp/1584762039 My child really enjoyed the books in the "Now I Am Reading" series. We also have all the "BOB" books, they are good, but my child just wasn't as interested in them as the Nora Gaydos books. Hope this is helpful.

  13. We have used Horizons K & 1 and I really love the program. It is very colorful, has a variety of different problems in each lesson, and moves at a fast pace. My child seems to have some natural math abilities and is able to move quickly through Horizons.
  14. You can see it here: http://www.flashmaster.com/
  15. There is a "hair pulling" medical condition called Trichotillomania. I have not researched Trichotillomania to know how early it can show up. Your child may be much to young for something like this to be a consideration at all. I am sure there is information on the web that you might find helpful. Best wishes.
  16. Here are a few resources that you might find helpful in your journey with SWR. First, there is a very active yahoo group where you can ask your questions and get great answers from very knowledgeable ladies as well as a lot of support. The author herself frequents the site and answers many questions personally. There is also a tremendous amount of information in the "files" section of the site. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SpellToWriteAndRead/ Here are a couple of You Tube videos that one of the trainers, Britta McColl, has put together that can be helpful Britta also has a website at http://www.morningstarlearning.com/ . She shares much of her personal experience and has several articles that are very helpful. Lastly, you can find some getting started step by step information here: http://www.swrtraining.com/id26.html I hope you find this information helpful. Best Wishes!
  17. Thanks you so much for sharing the information about these readers with us! I am always very excited to find non fiction books with a lower reading level. My child just loves all the factual non fiction information. Bless you!
  18. Carol in Cal, You have been so very helpful! Thank you for sharing such a detailed response to my inquiry. I am blessed by your response & could feel your excitement for what you were able to accomplish with this study. Thank you so much for your time & your wisdom, both are greatly appreciated.
  19. Melissa & Angela, Thank you so much for sharing your recommendations. Can you please tell me a little more about Biblioplan? Pros and cons? Thanks for your time.
  20. Carol in Cal "I'm so glad that I decided to slow down in SOTW1 and intersperse it with Bible rather than trying to get through it in a year. That was a very rich 18 months that integrated Bible knowledge right into DD's favorite subject, and the fact that I was bold enough to make this decision against other advice and have it work out so well gave me more confidence to make other decisions that are righter for our family than they are consistent with WTM or other input." I would love to know more about how you included the Bible in your study of SOTW 1. I have wanted to do this myself and would appreciate any advice you could share about how you accomplished combining the two. Thanks for your time.
