  1. I would second the Spell to Write and Read suggestion. There is a bit of a learning curve initially for you the teacher, but there is nothing about it that an older child would find to childish. There is a wonderful yahoo group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SpellToWriteAndRead/ that is so helpful. They can answer your questions & provide a lot of support. The yahoo site has a lot of very helpful information in the "files" section for beginners as well as those using the program with older children. Hope this is helpful.
  2. You guys are truly amazing & so very helpful. Thank you so much for sharing your curriculum choices, links, resources, and opinions. You have provided so many great ideas & helpful suggestions. Now I will need to research some of your recommendations a little further & make some decision. I really appreciate your time & willingness to be so helpful. Thanks again & bless you all!
  3. I would love to hear what you loved & what worked well for you & your child, as well as, what you would avoid. I would also love any history & science recommendations from a Christian perspective. Are there any games or extra materials that you found helpful? Thank you in advance for your time.
  4. Thanks ladies, you have been very helpful. I really do appreciate your time & your advice.
  5. I am wanting to add Singapore Math to Horizon 1 for 1st grade. What level should I buy? I am not too familiar with Singapore. What materials will I need to teach it properly? Do I need a TM or specific manipulatives? Where do you recommend I purchase Singapore Math? Has anyone used these two math programs together? If so I would love to hear what your experience has been. Thanks in advance.
  6. There are a total of 70 phonogram cards in the SWR set. In addition to I-1, I have I-1/2, I-1/3, & I-1/4, which is the last card in my set. Hope this helps.
  7. Ladies, thank you so much for your willingness to share your opinions & experiences. You have been very helpful. I am very thankful for your time & your wisdom.
  8. Has anyone started with 100EL to get their child reading & then transitioned into SWR as a core reading & spelling curriculium? I understand they are very different approaches to reading, is it hard to transition from one to the other? I would sure appreciate any personal experience, opinions, or recommendations anyone is willing to share with me. TIA
