  1. No advice, just :grouphug::grouphug:. I am so sorry about your baby.
  2. As a Christian I believe the spirit world is very real. I believe some people access something. Wether or not it is the actual person/"ghost" I have no idea. I also believe that not all people claiming to have this power actually do. I would guess more are fakes/good body language readers than actual "mediums." Personally, I would not believe any "message" offered to me, because no one I know that is dead would want to contact me (like that.) ETA: I have never seen the show you are referring to, so I can't say if I think she's a fake or the real, scary deal.
  3. Wow, that website looks great! Thank you! ETA: We found "potato," "popcorn," "rock," "slide," and "clock!" All signs he's been asking for! Yea! (Wait that's not the right "yea," is it? I know it's not "yeah," but I can't remember what's right....)
  4. Or is there a website that has the information for free? I was looking at ASL dictionaries on Amazon, but the negative reviews are worrying me, and I don't know anyone IRL that I can ask. My kids LOVE Signing Time. We've gotten the first 3 dvds since February, but I can't keep buying them all the time (at almost $20 a dvd!) and our library doesn't have them. And now Ds5 is making up his own signs, and I don't want him memorizing things wrong. I'd rather be able to tell/show him the real sign. Of the signs he made up today, see-saw, clock, rock, I could only find rock online. He actually came close! So is there someone on here with experience with sign language who could point me in the right direction, please? TIA!
  5. I don't qualify to vote in the poll, but at our local theaters they have drinking fountains. If they don't mind giving that away for free then I don't see a problem with bringing your own water.
  6. I wondered the same thing when I read that. I hope someone on here has a good answer/theory.
  7. There's a video of a guy running and jumping around in a "Tactical Kilt." :D
  8. I would LOVE to be called "Mrs. Warde." But no one does except on here, where you have to. :001_smile: Ack! That sentence ended in a preposition!!!
  9. I just realized you're where I want to be! :D My Aunt posted on facebook that it's snowing there. My Grammy told me you guys were 2 inches away from the snowiest winter EVER. Think you'll break it?
  10. Ice skating! I haven't in years, and last night I had a dream about skating on a frozen pond. I miss it so much :( I used to ice skate at recess in the winter time in Anchorage, Alaska. Now I'm in California :glare:
  11. I agree with you, but this sounded like to me not to be a cultural lack as much as a fact-of-life, the-world-is-not-flat and the sun-does-not-go-around-the-earth lack. But then, I haven't yet read Cultural Knowledge (it's on my to-do list.) I could be wrong about that.
  12. FYI: Anika (ahn-ni-ka) is Seven-of-Nine's (from Star Trek Voyager) original human name. It may not be a problem for her, but there is a chance you will be mistaken for a hard core Treker. I tell you this because my cousin named his daughter that, and he had no idea.
  13. Looks very "unschool-ie" but that's not a bad thing :D I'd watch it.
  14. Dh is a Registered Dental Assistant in CA (certifications differ from state to state.) His highest degree is High School, but he has 3 (?) computer networking/fixing certifications that he studied for at home and passed the exams. He also has several dental assisting related certifications (he studied at home to pass the RDA exam, too.) Part of re-registering for the RDA requires a certain amount of continuing education credits every two years. He is also CPR certified. So while he's never had any formal collage classes, he's done more studding than just a hs grad.
  15. Behind what? Is she (your mother) current on local public school curriculum enough to be able to accurately assess and compare? Has she seen your stated goals and schedule for the year? I agree with everyone else. She's 6! I think what you've done in these past 2 weeks is well worth the time and is an experience that she is more likely to remember than 2 regular weeks of school that she can do when it's too hot outside. :chillpill: And I will never understand a mother's obsession with a grown daughter's hairstyle.
  16. I'm still paying off a $70+ bill. It was $120, but I found the cds (books on cd) and books I thought were lost forever, so that dropped it down.
  17. If you sweat, I'd count it. I sweat when I do it, so I count it for me. :tongue_smilie: I got the "Calorie Burn Kit." (On sale for $7!!!) But I haven't tried it yet. It adds weight to your hands (should be great for the boxing) and has a riser for the board (great for the step aerobics.)
  18. Ds5 (4 when we got it) has spent hours and hours at a time building in our sand table. Ds3 (2 when we got it) will spend some time at the sand table, then some at the (separate) water table, and then is done in 30 or less (that could be partially because ds5 tends to dominate the space.) But he's not as kinetic as ds5.
  19. That's the clip of the school shooting. Do you have a better link?
