  1. I like to do handprint or footprint t-shirts each year. For the first year my FIL was a grandfather I made a handprint with ds#1, painted a heart around it, and wrote with paint "My grandson reaches out to take my hand and touches my heart."
  2. My kids would totally eat those cakes! They love cheesecake, cake with fruit, and home-made whipping cream. Dh said those kids are a result of a processed-food society. If our kids did show some hesitancy about it we would explain the unknown food to our kids understanding that you as our host had put a lot of time and effort into it. If they did refuse to eat something, I or my husband would eat it so it wouldn't be wasted.
  3. My sister did the same thing with our grandfather who raised us. They were always "Granny and Papa" growing up, even though they raised us. I still get confused when she calls Granny "Mommy."
  4. I clicked on this thinking there wouldn't be an option for me, but there is! Bless you for having as an option "I can't say in polite society."
  5. I LOVED your contribution last year. Maybe you could write about something you learned this past year working with Henry, or a challenge you've encountered since writing it?
  6. I LOVED this! :smilielol5: Your kids are geniuses!
  7. Wow, look at that hair!!! 5lbs, was she a preemie?
  8. I can't bring myself to throw them out, either. There are some ideas on Pinterest for things to do with them.
  9. I had a 2nd trimester u/s last month and they required that I drink 16 oz of fluids one hour before the appointment time.
  10. I voted my husband, because he does all the bills electronically except for the one check which I write out because you can actually read my handwriting.
  11. Amazon Wishlists saved me from disappointment. I'm guaranteed to get something I want, but I put enough options on the list that I'm still surprised.
  12. Dear Touched Traveler, I am a Christian who believes in angels and demons/spirits, not "ghosts." But that sounded like a ghost. I would have brought it up with the owners/manager and asked about it, and if it's something that's been reported before I would make sure their online reviews included that information because people shouldn't be going there unaware. Other than that, I don't know what else you could have done. Happy anniversary!
  13. Sounds a lot like my Builder Boy. He never pretended to be anyone or anything other than himself, just builds and builds and talks about what his factory is making or his trains are delivering, etc. All very "real world" stuff. He's not pretending to be a factory worker, he's not pretending to be the factory, he's moving things around, explaining the conveyer belt, etc. He's 6 1/2. I used to worry about it, especially since his little brother has been pretending to be something/someone/some animal since he was about 2? But I don't worry about it anymore. He has plenty of creativity. If I asked him to pretend he might go for it for a few minutes, but I think he'd get bored of it pretty quickly.
  14. If you're willing (or they're willing) to do a little bit of work, PVC pipe building sets are the BEST for kid builders. I need to update my blog with some of the new stuff Builder Boy's been doing with it lately. You can also search pinterest for more ideas. When the weather's nice these become outside toys. If you do this you WILL want to buy the PVC pipe cutter. Only $12 or so and WORTH IT.
  15. What I've done in the past is come up with a list of ideas, and then he can pick one/some or use it as inspiration. I do the same with presents. If you have radio, tv, internet, or junk mail there really is NO excuse for forgetting.
  16. Well, right now he's a puppy dog, and apparently committed to his role. :tongue_smilie:
  17. Me to Ds4: "Please don't carry your underwear with your mouth."
  18. I clicked on the link and when the picture popped up ds4 saw it and said "Awwww! I love it; I love this picture!" :)
  19. You can buy paper in bulk at Costco or Sams for really good prices. :D Or you could teach her to type.
  20. The kids and I all like grapes AND raisins, but Dh only likes grapes.
