  1. toilet door closed. as does just about every house I have ever visited. most older houses in Australia have the toilet as a separate room to the bathroom. I never knock. if the door is unlocked then nobody is in there. Bathroom window is opened 24 hours a day. Lots of older Australian toilet rooms have fixed louver windows that cannot be closed so it is very well ventilated . I remember reading an autobiography about someone shifting to USA in the early 50s from Europe and her being shocked that Americans left doors opened all through the house, not only the bathroom and toilet but also the bedroom doors. So I assume it is a cultural thing
  2. I like exactly where I live I have no desire to even visit USA let alone live there.
  3. Minced beef is around $18 kilo, chicken breast around $15kilo. Though chicken can be got for $13 kg regularly on special. They are the cheapest cuts of meat. Cheaper to buy by the kg and repack once home. It all goes up from there. The cheapest steak is abound $27 kg and goes up very steeply scotch fillet is over $47kg. I budget $15 to 20 for meat per dinner deli meat starts around $15 kg, something like salami can start at $25 kg the price of live animals has almost doubled after it starting raining after the long drought. Live weight for cattle is over $10 kg at the cattle markets, so it is to be expected that the cut up price will be higher than last year i looked up several shops to check I was telling you the right prices. The first one I looked up, Woolworths, had all meat listed as unavailable. The second , food works had some. I mostly buy bulk from a butchers shop but they don’t have an online shop for me to check prices. I never buy seafood. It is astronomically expensive and I am sure only for very rich people. I get whatever they have on special, a few weeks worth at a time. And we eat according to what we have on hand. We grow 90 percent of our own vegetables so I don’t have any idea about prices of those. We eat very little prepackaged food.
  4. Some. 52% over 70 have had 3 doses we are being told that the few triple dosed that are dying are over 90. we no longer believe what we are being told. yesterday we were all told that the overwhelming reports of women saying that the vaccine short term interferes with menstrual cycles and in lots of women causes heavy bleeding for at least the next period…was…. You guessed it… in the woman’s head….
  5. 2 dose Vaccination doesn’t do a thing to stop people catching omicron here in Australia.most people only finished getting their second dose October or November. We are being told that it does reduce hospitalisation and most of the people who are dying that are double and triple vaxed have serious underlying health complications. We are repeatedly told that the rate of transmission to household members who are double vaxed is 50%. It isn’t called breakthrough infections any more here either. Vaccination rates of people over 12 is over 94%. The age group that is getting the majority of cases is between 18 and 30. They have an even higher vaccination rate. oh and the official wording in Australia has changed. People now die with Covid, not from it. It is across all media here sometimes reporters forget and say of, then backtrack and correct themselves.
  6. Have to say that I don’t recognise more than half of the products you guys mention. And the price you guys say is high is almost half what we pay.
  7. Paint the bathroom ceiling. I have been waiting for the last 2 years for dh and the twins to go camping so I can paint it. It is pretty bad the old paint is peeling off, but we cannot have the room not functioning with everyone here.
  8. There was a workplace accident just on Tuesday in Victoria where the forklift operator was killed
  9. Every single time he opens his mouth more nonsense falls out.
  10. Greens especially lettuce grow extremely well with hydroponics . There are many very easy green wall kits or plans available. For a very small outlay and almost no maintenance you could have greens fresh year round.
  11. The tsunami warning for the beach by our house has lifted. We have a Cliff separating out house from the ocean so no risk at all.
  12. https://au.news.yahoo.com/tsunami-hits-tonga-after-catastrophic-volcano-eruption-060809732.html the sound of the underwater volcano erupting was heard over 500 km away in Fiji . Impressive satellite footage of eruption
  13. caused by an volcano erupting near Tonga, may cause sea surges all the way to New Zealand https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-01-15/tonga-issues-tsunami-warning-after-undersea-volcano-erupts/100759102 https://www.9news.com.au/world/tonga-tsunami-volcano-waves-hit-tonga-amid-tsunami-warning-following-huge-volcanic-eruption/c9cbf4d9-7413-4793-9ced-e3629f16b696
  14. The only way to get a medical exemption for an Australian is to be one of the less than 200 people in the whole country that have an anaphylactic reaction to the one ingredient that is present in all the vaccines. Having a life threatening reaction to one vaccine doesn’t give you an exemption to not getting vaccinated. Any person with a medical phobia, or a sever reaction to one vaccine and makes an INFORMED Choice to not have more us lumped right in with the anti Vaxer ,and depending which state you are in means you are not allowed to work for the foreseeable future, as well as not allowed to go to sporting events, restaurants etc.etc.etc. as far as the tennis person. I don’t follow sports at all. Am not a fan. I don’t think it fair that sports persons and movie stars etc have been flouting Aus Covid rules for the last 2 years. HOWEVER. I think what they currently doing is appalling. They should have made it clear right form the outset what the rules are and stuck with them. Not given him a visa in the first place if that was their rule. The government has messed the whole thing up right from the get go and are making it worse and worse. Swing as they gave him a visa , and he has won a court case already then I think they should stick with that and let him play. If they think he is such a threat then why in the earth have they been pussy footing around.
  15. There was a story on abc blog about it the day before yesterday. The fedgov is taking them all so at the end of the month they can hand them out at pharmacies for health care card holders , probably with big fanfare. we assumed that the government had ordered some for this purpose…. Why order some when they can just take what others have ordered and are already on the way..they are using their emergency powers to be able to do this.
  16. I did it, I lost 4 1/2 kg in just over 2 weeks. I Am now below max weight for hight, just. Would like to lose another 3 but I am now extremely light headed, feel pretty washed out. I am sticking to a calorie counter and eating correctly. Not starving myself or anything.I think it is just lack of chocolate and chocolate withdrawals symptoms.
  17. Congratulations 🥳 🎉 it is a wonderful feeling. My baby turned 18 in October, a month after he left home for work. So so nice to know they are starting their own life
