  1. oyster mushrooms? I have tried growing oyster mushrooms in a bag. I guess we didn't get the climatic conditions right
  2. Have to say if someone cooked the meal besides me I think I would cry with happiness. I wouldn't expect them to clean a single thing I have a cast iron wood fired combustion stove. It cannot be wiped. The next morning I vaccum or sweep the top while the stove is cold. Most anything that spills turns to carbon and is easily swept off
  3. We have never had them before twin 2 saw them while we were shopping and asked if we could give them a try. they are a pocket shaped tortilla. I am guessing you just fill with mince and grated vegetables.https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/recipes/classic-beef-tortilla-pockets
  4. This. My ds 1-8 is paying $190 per week for just a room. He is on apprentice wages, $470 per week. we grow most of our own food mostly because dh is on a disability pension because of permanent work injury and I am a full time carer for the twins so not working outside the home much. We have after many years perfected living on a extremely low income

  6. I don’t plan the whole week, I cook on what is ready in the garden and what meat I pull out of the freezer each day. today we are trying something new, tortilla pockets. I am going to Melbourne tomorrow for twin 1 dr appointment. So I will be having take away Thai. A special treat that I only have when going to Melbourne for hospital appointments we have curry and spaghetti bolognaise with lots of veggie added once a week At the end of the week we will have take away pizza, we have it once a year for our wedding anniversary
  7. all my bio children learned food production, cooking and preservation from infancy. All of them remember being in a baby carrier “ helping “ in the veggie garden. One of them thought he was the one that grew the veggies, but he was really in the carrier. I have photos of my kids then aged 4, 6,8,10 helping chop up pigs. When they were toddlers they would help pack the prepared food into preserving jars. I remember fondly the odd can of peaches had bite marks in some of the peaches as the toddler would take a nibble as they were helping pack. Most of them as adults still mostly cook from scratch.2 of the boys hunt or fish for all of their meat.
  8. You can also mulch blueberries with pine needles to help bring up the ph
  9. I see you have already taken the test. I would have taken the test as well. I don’t believe in predicting the future, but I regularly (Several times a year) have dreams that come true. I always wake from them in the morning with a sense of urgency, that I have to act on them. Just the other week I dreamt my sisters kids were getting put into foster care while she was in Hospital. It was so real I told mum first thing in the morning she had to find out where they were. Sure enough the place where they were had decided that funding was low for their care and they were just starting to call for them to be placed in foster care. Luckily mum was able to halt it. Another time I had a dream that the op shop had shelves and shelves of cake tins. Next morning I went there and they had one of those really good square cake tins made of folded metal with the seams on the outside.
  10. Sorry that you think I am ridiculous i am confused there were people on this thread that they felt they were living with ww2 food restrictions/ rationing. I was trying to point out that they are not anywhere near that, not even close.
