  1. Hugs similar situation with mil. She had Covid so mildly. Her nursing home is in lockdown so she couldn’t see any family for her 100th. My sil dropped off a few things at reception including a bottle of brandy. Mil smuggled it into a friends room down the hall, another oldie snuck in as well and they had a jolly time. One of the staff found them then went to the kitchen and brought them a tray of treats. So she had a fabulous time after all.
  2. There is helicopter transport for super urgent like car crash etc. planes are also used for not so urgent. I don’t know why they are using road. I don’t know how they work out what to use
  3. another update. that hospital has decided that they cannot do the tests she needs and they have stabilized her a bit . they have just called for an ambulance and are sending her to Melbourne.
  4. They were going to take her to Monash, but she only made it to Sale
  5. Thank you everyone so much for all your positive thoughts and prayers. It has to help every time I speak to mum, she just keeps saying over and over it will be alright…like she is trying to comfort herself.
  6. Update she only made it 40 km then her heart rate started plummeting so they rushed her to the closest hospital. It is 250 km from Melbourne. She was 300 km from Melbourne at the other hospital, bigger than the hospital she was at. She is in resus. She is no longer able to communicate with my mum, but was able to tell the doctor to ring my mum. I think my mum might be her emergency contact. The have stabilised her a bit, her heart is going too slow. I don’t know all the medical terms, but she isn’t getting enough oxygen through the tube in her nose, so they might run one down. They are going to do a lot of tests to try work out what exactly is going on. Mum said she doesn’t expect to hear anything for a few hours.
  7. She is currently In Transit to Melbourne.. I have no medical status update at all
  8. Have you thought about hydrophonics I know someone in melb that is in s rental and is growing enough lettuce for one every day of the year with a small hydroponic set up
  9. I am trying some Asian veggies in the garden. They grow quick. Every morning I go out at sunrise and wipe off the cabbage moth eggs and it seems to be working
  10. An sort of update. She hasn’t been transported her to Melbourne. No transport ambulance available.
  11. Be glad you don’t live in the west of Australia. 80% of the supplies cannot make it to that state because of extreme flooding. They only have fresh produce
  12. I don’t have any updates. Haven’t heard anything since last night. the blanket ban on all surgery statewide except emergency (life or death like bad car crash) has affected a huge amount of people. It wasn’t because of hospitals becoming overwhelmed. There are surgical wards all over the state sitting completely idle. Surgeons all over have been going to the media saying there is the capacity but they are not allowed to operate. It s all to do with a power hungry tyrant that is the premier in this state. The hospital my sister was in doesn’t have a single Covid case. All Covid cases are shifted to a few designated hospitals in the state
  13. not really, though she did send me a very short message telling me that it was the most painful experience she has ever had and she would rather birth a large baby. I am getting updates from my mum, who is communicating directly with the staff.
  14. an update. she is being transferred this evening by road to Melbourne to a cardiologist unit. They think she is now having heart problems it seems to be going form bad to worse
  15. Please I need lots and lots of positive thoughts for my sister . she is literally fighting for her life she was put into hospital for gallbladder 7 days ago. because we have a dictator premier in Victoria atm he has put a blanket ban on all surgeries. So they haven’t been able to operate on her. yesterday evening she started to go downhill . blood clots in her lungs today she is in a critical condition. her oxygen level is 35 (she is on oxygen) heart rate 30, blood pressure 180 over 120. infection in her sternum, liver now stopping working . the town hospital wanted to shift her to a city hospital , but she is going down hill so rapidly that she is no longer stable enough to be transported. she has 10 children
  16. I have read several times that the level of extreme obesity in USA has a direct impact on death rates as well
  17. If there is a genetic component I would think the length of time would be similar. Dementia is a broad term for multiple very similar conditions each have differing speeds of progression. And of course a person with dementia also has all the other health conditions that older people have that may result in impairment and even death. very generally speaking the younger a person is when they get dementia the faster it progresses.
  18. It was AZ, there is no medical exemption for his field of work. A manager of managers for 000. It is either get the booster before end of feb or instantly lose your job. My brother has always had suicidal tendencies and I think he is thinking that if this is time up then he isn’t going to fight. He is in his mid 40s. Still having cognitive impairment from his blood clots and mild stroke caused by AZ.
  19. You are right it is my brother. Who is being forced to get a booster this month which well may kill him because the sick state Gove has decided there is no exceptions and if he doesn’t get a booster he will instantly lose his job, then lose his house . Yes boosters have been mandated here for a swath of employees. I have repeatedly said that my next door neighbours brother died 12 hours of being vaxed because of a heart attack caused by the vax. EVERY SINGLE TIME I mention it I get jumped on by those forum cats that say it is impossible, it was just a coincidence no connection at all, how dare I mention something like that, how ridiculous and having evidence FROM A PERSON WHO LIVES RIGHT BESIDE ME is the same as a person who has a second cousin who knows a friend who knew a person they went to high school with that heard of someone that had a reaction. Basically trashing anybody that is saying hay some of these things are really happening.
  20. I think she is really brave, there are so many self righteous narrow minded nasty cats here on this forum that slam anyone that mentions any real live lived experiences re vaccine reactions.
  21. thinking of your mum and hoping she stays healthy
  22. there is no mystery . it is so physically draining to have a shower when you are very old and takes hours and hours to recover. it is easier to just skip it, especially if the oldie want to do anything else at all that day. I worked in aged care, as a personal carer - primarily in showering and taking oldies shopping. oldies would have to rest up for hours after a shower to recover.
