  1. The first one reminded me of a blueberry scone and it made me hungry, so that is how I voted. :thumbup1:
  2. Are there other rooms in your house that are "designed" to your family's taste like in the photo of the bathroom? The pattern on the walls/floor would be outside of my comfort level knowing that I would have to tear it all off the wall, put up new dry wall, tile again, put in new cabinets and sinks, etc. Can you focus on renting the house so that one day you could possibly return to the area and live there again?
  3. That was my thought too since Steinbeck has been dead a long time.
  4. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005HXEIBM/ref=oh_details_o09_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 My daughter is in the water up to 16 hours a week (swim and water polo), so she needs a suit that lasts longer. She currently has two of these suits as practice suits. She really likes them because they have kept their tight fit and color. I would rather pay a little more for a suit that will last 6+ months than money for a cheap suit that starts to stretch and/or fades quickly. My daughter has some other suits (Speedo Endurance), but she doesn't like them as much as the TYR Durafast.
  5. The above posted before I could finish. I wanted to add that if you substituted this issue and considered a 14-year-old girl being contacted by adult predators, hopefully you would have the same reaction of this child needs to be protected during this confusing time.
  6. Your nephew is still a child and it sounds like he is prime for a predator. I agree that you should talk with him and tell him that your children were afraid for him so they shared his secret. Tell him that you will be there for him while he talks to his parents.
  7. The above link didn't work, but try this one: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Coghlan-s-Multi-Spice-Shaker/21141462 for a Coghlan's Multi-Spice Shaker. It looks like the above link was sent from a mobile phone.
  8. I was at the library earlier, so I looked for your suggestions. Unfortunately I couldn't find any of those books on a CD format and/or that weren't checked out already. The librarian told me about a place to rent audio books, so I am going to that store tomorrow.
  9. My 16-year-old daughter and I would love some suggestions for audio books to listen to during a long road trip. We are open to all suggestions except for the Harry Potter series since we both just finished re-reading the books. :thumbup1: We will have 30+ hours of driving, so the books could be a series or individual books.
  10. I sync my phone to have my contacts, calendar, and photos move back and forth. I also sync music every now and then.
  11. My last two droid phones were HTC phones. I love to sync my phone with MS Outlook calendar and contacts.
  12. Thanks! Today was her second day and she is already learning so much.
  13. When my children were young, I found a clear, plastic brief case with a handle for each of them. I gave them a bunch of stickers to decorate it and then they used the brief case to store their swim ribbons. My son pinned his first few medals onto his bulletin board, but the rest of the medals are in the brief case too. I saw one at Hobby Lobby recently - like this, but with a handle. http://shop.hobbylobby.com/products/clear-photo-case-809137/
  14. That is what the other Mom told me, so maybe I should change course. I'm not sure why I thought about adding it as a credit.
  15. Thank you Lori D for the awesome thread with all of the transcript links. I looked through the list quickly (but I will be spending time looking through them to see if I left anything off mine, etc.), but I had a specific question that I thought I would ask the Hive. Earlier in the week, I read a few older threads, but I didn't find the answer to my questions. My 16-year-old daughter starts her paid internship next week. She will be doing computer programming for 20 hours a week for 7 weeks, so that is only 140 hours. I was trying to figure out how to put in on her transcript and I had the following questions. 1) How many credits would you give this internship? 2) Another Mom told me today (she used to homeschool) that she would put the internship under miscellaneous, but I was going to put it with her other computer programming credits (Pyton, etc.). Now I am questioning that.
  16. Thank you so much for the help. It is so comforting to know that I can ask those that have BTDT. - I have my daughter's transcript up-to-date. - I am working on the final details for the classes I will teach her for the next two years. - I am still iffy on duel enrollment subjects because those depend on the CC and when they will offer the classes she wants to take. - I have part two of the test prep waiting for August - My last task was to figure out the test dates, so thanks everyone. I can check that off my list of things to do this week. :hurray:
  17. http://testprep.about.com/od/registrationinfo/a/SAT_Test_Dates.htm My daughter will be starting her junior year in August (homeschool) and I am trying to look ahead for SAT and ACT testing dates in the fall, but since I am new to this, I needed some help. There are test dates posted on the above link (same as on the collegeboard.org but in an easier format). Using October 5, 2013 as an example, I wanted to know if it means just the SAT test will be offered or it means only the SAT and Subject tests will be offered? If the SAT/Subject tests are offered, can a student only take the SAT portion and skip the subject tests on a specific test date.
  18. I decided to splurge and add Netflix for the summer since we were having trouble streaming "Dr. Who" shows via our Amazon Prime. Sadly, other than "Dr. Who", we have to search hard to find things to watch. My son wanted to watch "Iron Man 2" yesterday, but it wasn't on Netflix. :confused1: So, we have zero movies in our queue which means I won't have any trouble dumping Netflix once we have finished watching the rest of the DW series.
  19. Since Sharpie marks can be hard to remove with just soap and water, my children rub a little sunscreen on the Sharpie marks and it comes right off. I think a hand sanitizer works too.
  20. Go with your gut feeling. My children like to go to swim practice when they have a "gunky" nose because they say the water helps to clear out their sinus cavity - GROSS!
  21. Sweet memories! My very first position with a summer league was as Clerk of Course. I had never been to a swim meet and no clue what CoC did, but I learned quickly and had a blast. I got to know every child's name. During my second summer with the league, I learned how to run Meet Manager and fell in love with that position. During the rest of the year, I worked as a deck official, but each summer after that, I ran MM. Snacks: chocolate milk for recovery, fruit, beef jerky, Goldfish crackers, pasta salad, cheese cubes
