  1. Both of our children are year-round competitive swimmers. We try to participate in 2-4 homeschool activities a month and try to volunteer a few times a year.
  2. We are on STOW-2 for the third time for my oldest and second time for my youngest. Thankfully it worked out that they have always been on the same book, but I have always required my oldest to do more work. Needless to say, we love the program.
  3. Do you keep these details for fun, because your state requires it, or some other reason?
  4. We don't eat a traditional meal for Christmas dinner. We have had steaks, Mexican food, Red Beans and Rice, etc.
  5. Thanks! I'll give that a try since I have a bottle in the cabinet.
  6. I love Amazon Prime and I love using the wish list feature. :001_smile:
  7. Bacon and biscuits for breakfast every Christmas morning.
  8. Sorry, that should have been AirMail postage. Adding a US stamp was never a consideration. :D Based on these few replies, we will skip the envelop because of the cost on their end and the idea that we wanted a thank you note. My children love geography and thought it would be fun to find out where their boxes were delivered, but I know they will understand an appreciate my concerns.
  9. Another homeschool Mom recommended Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer by John Grisham (2 books in the series now). I have it on hold at our local library so we haven't read it yet, but my children said it sounded interesting.
  10. Ours get folded and placed on the fireplace hearth (fireplace never gets used). Since it got cold today, most of the blankets were used and left on the sofas, but I'll fold them before I go to bed since it makes the room look so tidy and that always makes me smile in the morning. :D
  11. Since my daughter has completed TT Algebra 1 and 2, I will tell you what we did. When my daughter struggled on a test, I would review all of the problems in the chapter looking for a trend. If I could tell that she was missing a concept or struggled in one area or completely lost, I would have her start the entire chapter over. It was never pretty, but since everything builds, missing a foundational point became so critical, my daughter would agree to start over. My daughter successfully passed both TT 1 and 2, so it worked for us.
  12. Thanks for posting this. I will share it with our children. I was just listening to the song on the youtube link and my husband heard it and started singing along. :D
  13. Thanks for the replies. While I would love to have someone send a letter to our children, I hate the idea of putting a financial burden on them to buy a stamp. The cost of a stamp is so easy for me to absorb, but I've seen video of some of the places OCC delivers boxes.:001_unsure:
  14. My children want to add a letter to the Operation Christmas Child boxes that they have filled, but we have a question. They want to add a self-addressed stamped envelope to each box (along with their letter), but we have no clue how much postage to put on the stamp. I would appreciate any help or ideas. Thanks!
  15. I have been paying my bills online for years (USAA) and I can't imagine doing anything else. I have explained to our children how their grandparents and I used to open bills, write checks, seal the envelops, and add stamps, but since they have never seen me write out checks they were clueless about what I was talking about (sadly this was just this week). I am putting together a little unit study for them to get some practice to better understand the process.
  16. :iagree: I have great memories of listening to the Beethoven's Wig CDs with my children.
