For 3 years after 1st was born I worked part time to cover rent. DH watched 1st dd then ds while I worked those hours. Since then, and 3 kids later, I have been a SAHM.

Catholics are NOT Protestant any other 'genre' claiming to be 'Christ followers' ARE Protestant? and to answer the original question. . . yes, I believe you can be a "Christ Follower" and not be a Catholic or Protestant. I also agree with AuntieM Religions/denominations are man-invented. I believe a Christian can self-describe as a "follower of Christ" without being categorical. Now, if it were easy to find a vibrant local church body that isn't Catholic/Protestant/Orthodox - that's another question

Agreeing with all your points but, as to the bold, seriously, what could be done? Even something radical? I agree with a PP that the state of the schools is just a reflection of the state of previous mayors and city councils, but how do you scrap a school system?

They interviewed Roy Roberts, the main Detroit school guy this morning on the news. Someone mentioned that Mr. Covington just left Kansas City and had NOT turned that district around. Mr. C said a school couldn't be turned around in 2 years but what I couldn't believe was when Roy Roberts said (at about 1:25 on the clip) "I don't know anything about THAT performance." Is this any different than the parents who 'OBVIOUSLY' make their kids AWANA Grand Prix cars and then the kids win 'best car' award? I'm sure this is a different thread. . . . . . . .starts in the home and carries through life.. . . and we wonder why kids have no ethics!

OK! My question is this. . .is it because people here WON'T take lower pay so jobs can stay here? I guess I just don't understand how it's cheaper to send a whole Unit to India. I'm in MI, high unemployment rate and yet see companies advertising for workers. Are workers unwilling to take 'less' or have they left the state?

My dd15 had a tooth pulled a couple of weeks ago and they prescribed vicodin for her to take an hour before the appointment. I say take it if you need it.
