Saxon. Give the placement test and put your child where he or she needs to be.

PS is not an option for us at all and neither is private school. Our worst days of homeschooling are still better than the best day of ps.

UGH! I sympathize with you and I don't think it's funny!! That would make me crazy!!! FTR, both my parents live with me so that's probably why it's not funny to me.

They are pretty family friendly, FTR. I live near Greenville and have been several times. I'm pretty sure you can bring him in, they just ask that you take him out of the lecture hall if he cries. The vendor area is huge and not quit so no one would even notice a crying toddler there. lol I may or may not go to the vendor hall. I havent' decided yet.

I';m using the Dive cds with it. My 10 yo ds watches the lesson on the computer then does the problems. It's easier for him to do it this way since he doesn't comprehend things as well when he reads them. Plus it's faster.

Grammar is grammar. Higher levels may have longer words, more work, harder sentences. I tried Hake a lont time ago but I don't recall much but if it's anything like Saxon math then it's going to review everything anyway so I wouldn't think it would be a problem.

Saxon math. I resisted because it was used in the local ps system in Ga where we lived at the time and I didn't want to do ANTHING that resembled "them." Then I gave in. Then I got rid of it. Got it again. Got rid of it. I'm back to it now because really after almost 12 years of homeschooling and trying to teach my kids math from waaaaaaaay too many other currics and methods I've realized that Saxon (with LOF and MUS thrown in) is the best way for my kids. The rebel in me still thinks Saxon is evil.

Saxon. Don't skip any problems. Get the dvd for teaching. There are at least 3 different ones to choose from.

Tapestry of Grace. I really wanted it to work but there's way too much of it to do it right, IMO. Teaching Textbooks.

Saxon. I actually do have my kids use LOF along side Saxon but mostly that's to give ME a break from checking math! lol

My 14 yo is taking acting classes and LOVES it. She hasn't seen a lot of musicals or plays and I'd like to come up with a list for her to watch. Recently we all watched The Wizard of Oz. I saw it as a kid but it's just one of those things that never came up, kwim? Your favorites?

I'm currently homeschooling 5 of them. 14 dd, 11 ds, 10 ds, 8 ds, 8 dd. We get up between 10 and 11. School gets started around noonish. Mondays we have outside activities so they don't do as much and what gets done gets done at another persons activity. We are not morning people. ETA: I just tell them to get started and they do. This is one of the few areas they don't struggle with.

Five in a Row. Math manipulatives like tangrams, links, geoboards. Add more books as wanted. Magic School Bus dvds. Crafts. Butterfly kit, praying mantis kit, ant kit, ladybug kit. Shining Dawn nature studies. This is actually what I have done and still do with my younger kids.

I'm one of the mean moms that does everything all summer, all year. We take random breaks when needed/wanted.

I feel your pain. Two of my boys used one Ace workbook for one unit study, just to make sure they got the basics and they LOVE them! They asked, repeatedly if they could keep using them. So, I bought them for science. They really love them and retain what they learn so there's no reason not to just because "l" would rather gouge my eyes out.
