  1. This is another one of those "WHAT IN THE WORLD!!!" moments that I have had with our insurance company. I found a lump a month or 2 back and had a mammogram. Got a bill last week for a portion of the bill. Called the insurance company to learn that they don't pay 100% of a diagnostic mammogram. They only pay for mammogram screenings...:001_huh: So if I was over 40 and having a mammogram EVERY year they would pay 100%? But I find a knot and want to make sure it is not cancer they don't pay all of it?
  2. first...:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: and second....don't try this. My mother died in January. Dh took the kids for both visitations. They came by for 30 minutes at the evening one and came right before the funeral for the afternoon one. I was ok. I managed. But it would have been 1000 times worse to have had my kids there with me. Find a sitter or something...but please don't try it.
  3. round here any snake you don't know is identified as a "corn snake"
  4. I want to scream or cry or both....:banghead: My oldest dd is 13. She refuses to admit when she is wrong. When things go badly it is always someone else's fault. If she gets punished for anything, it is always because mom and dad are mad (even if everything is done in a perfectly neutral tone of voice, with no anger involved) and not because she ever did anything at all. The science test she failed today? The answers are NOT in the book. They are testing her on things that were never covered. The reason she is doing badly at other things? Because I (mom) have NEVER taught her one thing. I am so frustrated. Maybe this is just a vent. I don't know. She is totally out of this world different from how I was as a teen. I don't get it at all.
  5. i get rid of fat clothes. it helps me stay where I need to if I have no alternatives to wear. i do keep clothes that I am hoping to fit into.
  6. dd's first blanket was crocheted...she literally shredded it, but it did get her to sleep! She loved the thing! (we are on blanket number 4!)
  7. why not make him responsible for the car care...washing waxing, cleaning, checking the oil and tire pressure? he can also learn to gas it up for you so that you just hand him the card and sit in the car while he gasses it for you.
  8. my dd has a lace trimmed blanket that she needed for a long time to go to sleep. (small baby blanket trimmed w/crocheted lace. It has lots of openings for small fingers to "twiddle") Now she is 9, she doesn't need it, but she does like it. She needed something to work her fingers with to soothe herself to sleep.
  9. what are they being sprayed with? Some places use "organic" sprays. (bacteria that are toxic to bugs once the bugs ingest it.)
  10. call some places. My mom found a lady who was willing to come to her house and do it for her, since her hair got to be like that.
  11. this is very good advice. I have the book you mentioned. Some kids take longer to come around, especially if they have had years to build up into the behaviour habits. Sometime time out has to be enforced by mom forcefully holding the child in their laps. (Can you sit in timeout by yourself, or do you need mom's help?) And you know what? I have had time periods where I let EVERYTHING in the house go except the child training. It didn't matter what I was doing, I would immediately drop it for a "child training boot camp."
  12. you definitely want to wash it separately....
  13. one thing that I do is have a crayon bucket. All the crayons and colored pencils go into an old gallon ice cream bucket with a snap on lid. It keeps me sane, so all I have to do is dump stray crayons in the bucket.
  14. I just want to chime in to say that tearing/epi is not universal. I've birthed 4 babies...not a single stitch... Only had a teeny little tear on baby number 3. My first 2 were epidurals, last 2 were natural.
  15. have you considered Tie dying them? Me and the kids did this and it was FUN! We've not had fading issues, but then tie dye is supposed to have color variations. I did it on the stove in a large pot of hot water. (I was too scared to mess up my washer.)
  16. yes...there is just this niggling little thing in my head...
  17. and we celebrated that a week ago. My brother posted that on his FB wall, and it totally sums up the way I feel. While I feel that justice has been served, I doubt much will change. We live in a world full of evil. That evil must be fought. Thanks to all who serve our country.
  18. ummm you are describing my life with my dh. He actually likes homeschooling better w/the insane scedule because the kids can stay up till nine or so when he is late. Otherwise, they'd be off to bed not too long after he walked in the door. I take care of the house and school stuff.
  19. yogurt helps alot. avoiding acid food and drinks. there is a rinse called UlcerEase that is available at the pharmacy, w/out a prescription, but we have to ask the pharmacist for it. My dh says it is the best thing for them.
  20. oh...honey, I've been there. 18 yrs old, no health insurance, baby coming 3 months after the wedding.....sigh....it will get better. I promise.
  21. I have a style some of the time...like when I actually care how I look, and the rest of the time....whatever is clean and comfy. My "when I care" look is a 1960's -ish maybe Jackie O look???? Lots of simple lines, classic colors.
  22. oh yes. In fact I can probably quote many of the episodes word for word. The pathetic thing is that I still laugh...
