  1. have you considered Tie dying them? Me and the kids did this and it was FUN! We've not had fading issues, but then tie dye is supposed to have color variations. I did it on the stove in a large pot of hot water. (I was too scared to mess up my washer.)
  2. yes...there is just this niggling little thing in my head...
  3. and we celebrated that a week ago. My brother posted that on his FB wall, and it totally sums up the way I feel. While I feel that justice has been served, I doubt much will change. We live in a world full of evil. That evil must be fought. Thanks to all who serve our country.
  4. ummm you are describing my life with my dh. He actually likes homeschooling better w/the insane scedule because the kids can stay up till nine or so when he is late. Otherwise, they'd be off to bed not too long after he walked in the door. I take care of the house and school stuff.
  5. yogurt helps alot. avoiding acid food and drinks. there is a rinse called UlcerEase that is available at the pharmacy, w/out a prescription, but we have to ask the pharmacist for it. My dh says it is the best thing for them.
  6. oh...honey, I've been there. 18 yrs old, no health insurance, baby coming 3 months after the wedding.....sigh....it will get better. I promise.
  7. I have a style some of the time...like when I actually care how I look, and the rest of the time....whatever is clean and comfy. My "when I care" look is a 1960's -ish maybe Jackie O look???? Lots of simple lines, classic colors.
  8. oh yes. In fact I can probably quote many of the episodes word for word. The pathetic thing is that I still laugh...
  9. no advice but I do have a story bout a year after we got our kitty she limped home w/ a compound fracture of one of her back legs. Compound...we could see the bone sticking out... at the time...zero dollars for a vet, even if had been a reasonable cost, so my dh and his friend decided to try to "help" her by setting it. Poor kitty, they caught her, wrapped her in a towel and tried for about 20 minutes to fix it with no luck. Poor poor kitty. So we let her loose...(had no idea a 3 legged cat could run so fast.) We decided that if she started getting bad, that my dh would have to "put her out of her misery" so we watched her. And she got better. Eventually skin grew back over the bone and then fur did too. And she is still with us...maybe a bit of stiffness if it is cold in that leg. :001_smile:
  10. http://www.humbleabode.com/renaissance-bookcaseheadboard-storagebed-winnersonly what about this?
  11. it helps us to say no TV until x time, or no tv after x time. It REALLY helps us get things done and not be distracted while trying to get things done. and it gets my kids off the couch and pursuing other interests.
  12. sticky note on the forehead till the job is done?
  13. my oldest dd was like that. you have my sympathy....
  14. I had no access to prenatal care with my first till I was 6 months along. If I were in your shoes I'd make sure my dr was aware of it; lots of times they will work with you when they know this. (ie. call in a prescription instead of insisting on an office visit) I'd find a Nurse Practitioner to who would be willing to see me at lower cost.
  15. you need tall shelves. Anything with a billion components goes on a Tall Shelf. Only mom gets it out. And in order for mom to get an item off the Tall Shelf, the other things with small components must be returned to the Tall Shelf. I do pare down even things that they play with if it just becomes too much. I tell them to pick out 5 stuffed animals. The rest go to Granny's yard sale. (they like to help Grandma make money) It gets to where I dread birthdays and Christmas because it will add to the mess.
  16. look for Sherlock Holmes with Ron Howard. My kids like them and they are not too scary...no blood, no swearing...etc.
  17. am I the only one who called my grandmother "Grandmother" (sounds formal I know, but she was anything but formal) and Granddad was Granddad. I have a Memaw and Pawpaw on my dad's side My parents Nana and Papa Dh's parents Grandma and Pawpaw.
  18. My dh is a civil engineer, so he is familiar with earth moving and water stuff. And here is a photo...
  19. a sinkhole opened up on our property a couple weeks ago; major rains expanded it today. It is now 10 ft deep, 12-15 ft across. We were planning in putting a pond there, but the sinkhole drains. we stood and watched it today, a huge waterfall flowing down into it and it drained like a bathtub. Anyone know what our options are? (this is in a wooded part of our pasture)
  20. if people are going to be around, ds 3 needs pants on. Otherwise unless he wants them it is t shirt and drawers. He is getting to where if someone shows up he actually asks for pants. I have always insisted on some clothes though. No nakedness.
  21. THAT is why Easter is my favorite holiday. No travelling, no guests. Just me and my family together. You should try it some time. This is also why Christmas is my LEAST favorite holiday.
