  1. I can't even do that...my bedsheets are in the washer!
  2. how I hate thee. thou makest the teens crabby and the littles whiny.... how I wish that thou wouldst be nice to me....
  3. I will ask my dh when he gets home. He is a civil engineer. I seriously doubt that they can do this.
  4. Because of the longevity of my mom's illness, none of my kids remember her being well. (my oldest has a couple slight remembrances) My youngest dd was stunned when I talked about my mom playing ball with us. "You mean Nana WALKED???" I hate it that my kids will never know her as I did.
  5. My mom died in January. I've been trying to avoid the thought of Mother's Day without her for the past few weeks. I am dreading it. I bought a card for my dh's mom today. But it made me really sad that I can't buy her one. I know I can celebrate with my own kids...but I miss her. alot. She was a wonderful mother and I hope I can be just like her.
  6. ds has always been a towhead but as he gets older his hair is getting darker, especially when he needs a haircut. He still says he has yellow hair, but, earlier this week, as he passed a mirror, he noticed his hair was brownish. He rubbed his head and muttered to himself. "I think I need to wash my hair."
  7. citrol.....my dh brings me this stuff from work; it gets sharpie off of stuff, gum out of hair, crayons off of walls, ink out of stuff, and playdough/silly putty out of carpet. I love that stuff.
  8. my nudity hang ups don't apply to people who legitimately need my help. I would not have a male OB, but my sick mom got my help in the bathroom more times than I can keep count. (now that she has passed, I count it a privilege to have served her in that way)
  9. I may be way off base but... when you keep chickens you learn weird things. One is that raccoons bite the heads off of their victims...and eat it. And that is all that they like to eat. The heads. I wonder if they do rabbits the same way. It may not be as sinister as you think
  10. I went to school with a young man who attended his Sister In Law's birth. The guy was 17 !!!! To this day that stuns me.
  11. I am right there with you Aubrey....no male OB's. Nope. Can't do it. Definitely have a no nudity policy w/ everyone but my OB and dh I guess :) Not even my parents were there when I gave birth. Just me, dh, the dr and oh 14 or so assistants, nurses, etc. (I think the hospital janitor might have been there but I wasn't counting) We have 2 friends who are nurse anesthetists (guys!) Here's hoping I never have to have anything done at their hospitals!!!
  12. I just got over the hump with my ds. Instead of asking, we just went every hour or so. I was trained not him, but it was better than diapers. For poop, we had a hard time with that, cleaning out poopy pants every day for 6 months. He finally got to where he would tell me, but was too scared to go on the toilet. Finally when he said he had to go, I'd put him on the toilet. nothing. So instead of putting drawers back on him, I'd put him in the tub. For whatever reason he would not poop in the tub and finally would yell "mom, I need to poop!" Then I'd plop him on the commode and he'd finally go. Don't know if that helps but believe me , I've been there. I hate potty training!!!!!
  13. why not put socks in the over door shoe bags? My ds's socks are in a little bucket on the dresser. (he is 3 so his socks are not too big) I sewed ribbon loops onto the edges of towels and hung them on hooks in the bathroom. Also a large basket can hold lots of clean towels if they are rolled, not folded. Shoes maybe on the enclosed porch in a shoe rack? My kid kick theirs off right inside the door anyway.
  14. you know what...I had the exact same thing happen to me as a teen. It happened daily for about 6 months of so; Finally what we did was I took a daily Zyrec or Claritin for about 4-5 months. Slowly that calmed my immune system down so that it quit happening all the time. Eventuall I was able to quit all the meds. I did have another episode in my early 20's but did the same thing and I've never really had another period like that. Get an epipen. Be proactive with the allergy meds. (we never figured out the allergen, despite tests)
  15. do you still have a gall bladder? Weight loss can trigger gall bladder issues.
  16. what about doing one room at a time, focusing on the common areas of the house first, and then the bedrooms. (yours comes first!) I have found that if I get the kids to declutter stuff, then the cleaning part is not so bad.
  17. or is it a lifelong commitment? I'm just curious... we are year to year folks.
  18. one reason I haven't sewn much lately is that my sewing laundry room has half the drywall ripped out. Meaning all my stash is scattered and piled. I find no pleasure in sewing in a room that is a wreck.
  19. my dh does not get it at all. But he is not really a social animal either. But really, these boards have changed me in more ways than I could have imagined.
  20. finished easter dresses at 10:30 the night before easter! whew! and I have my dd a skirt cut out, but still haven't sewn yet. maybe I'll do that this afternoon.
