  1. I just bought some of that overpriced Boy Scout popcorn. I hope it's tasty...
  2. Awesome. It's good to hear something like this in the middle of so many sad economic and career stories these days.
  3. My DS started making scrambled eggs when he was 7. I think my 4 yo could make a messy PB&J if I asked her.
  4. Rest and videos or reading for the kids, plus I would get DH to come home early from work and do the school stuff he does with them. He doesn't do that much, and it's usually scattered over a few days, but that would be a good day for him to power through all of it.
  5. These are expensive but I'm throwing them out there as another alternative: http://www.hannaandersson.com/style.asp?from=SC|7|6|8|10|3||&simg=32328_W70 I've got a skinny tall kid too and what I like about HA is they sell by height. These particular jeans have an adjustable waist, but for non-adjustable clothes I've found HA to be slimmer cut that works well, maybe because they're Swedish?
  6. Simon Says? Telephone? Team scavenger hunt of things easily found in the area?
  7. Stay and finish the attic, for sure. My parents live in a neighborhood with good neighbors and it's really paid off as they've gotten older. There's always someone to help, I can call the neighbors to check on things for them, the could catch a ride to the store if they needed to, etc.
  8. Can you store it under the bed, flatter but wider than when it's in a bin?
  9. I would be uncomfortable but I voted yes. I would recognize that my feelings were just personal to me, and that there was nothing inherently bad about the situation. And I think that when teachers are more integrated into the community and know more families that's a good thing. I would also consider that if I ran into a problem down the line, I would have a more personal relationship with her. People's nature is to try harder with others they know personally.
  10. Or check any sort of story designed to scare people into reading the article. (See: "Eggs are good! Eggs are bad! Eggs are good! Eggs are bad!") Also check things regarding safety, crime stats, government spending, etc.
  11. I know you asked for food ideas, but since that seems fraught with problems, I'm suggesting a nice box of stationery as another option. (I just skimmed the thread, apologies if this has already been suggested.)
  12. Is she looking for stories in which the subject of the story has misrepresented data (see Romney article above?) Or is she looking for an article in which the newspaper itself has misrepresented the data in original analysis and reporting? (Someone wrote an article after reading some statistic and made a bunch of assumptions.)
  13. Maybe get some materials from here? http://www.acornnaturalists.com/store/Desert-Adventures-C32.aspx (We don't live in the desert but their materials for other habitats are good.) Check out the links on the left hand side, too. I just linked to what I could find in a glance.
  14. Do you know the name of the show? I'd like to see if I can find a podcast. :D
  15. http://www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/flying-lessons/crisis-cleaning/ :grouphug:
  16. Check this thread I saved awhile ago: http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/showthread.php?t=402245 It has some relevant info, including WTM info.
