Twelve Months of Monastery Soups is my favorite soup cookbook. The recipes are simple, quick and the ingredients are things you have on hand. I checked one out from the library over and over until realizing it would be worth the money. Ebay had an awesome deal.

Growing our salads saves a lot. Tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, green onions, lettuces, peppers and herbs are all easy for us. I did lots of pot gardens on my deck and have done a bigger garden in the past. We joined a CSA this year and it was a good experience, but a much bigger dollar output. I think we'll go back and just do a home garden next year with some in pots and some in the ground.... Stinking rabbits!

I don't do a thirty day, but from fall to spring I cook in big batches. I make at least two of everything and freeze one. There must be some reason I love cooking when it's cold or at least coldish outside. I checked out lots of books from the library for tips and info.
