  1. Thanks for the update, I'm glad he's feeling better. Poor guy, prayers for a good day going out to you both.
  2. Our families live so far away this isn't a problem. (I'd love it if my family could bug us by dropping in.;)) However, I understand what you are saying. Try using a pre-planned answer like, "Thanks, we can meet you after 3 pm or can we take a rain check were in the middle of lessons; another good one is we're booked Monday - Friday from 8-2." Also consider not feeling guilty about your changing commitments. You're just doing what any teacher would do and they'll understand with a little time.
  3. Go to your hair stylist or an in and out place like Fantastic Sam's, Costcutter's etc. They have Nioxin shampoo and conditioner you can purchase that will help. You don't want to wait and have irreversible damage to your hair shafts. PS.. I'm no hair specialist, but my sister lost a lot of hair a few years ago and my mom suffered thinning due to medication. They both tried vitamins and diet on the advice of their doctors. Neither worked, but the Nioxin shampoo & Conditioner did. Brother-in-law recommended it to them. :D
  4. No advice other than do you have a nurse or dr. you can call and see what they advise?.:grouphug: You sound miserable.
  5. Family of four in a two story, four bedroom 2 1/2 bath with 2300 sq-ft that's not including the full basement and 2 car garage. We've lived here 5+ years and this is our biggest home to date.
  6. :smash: I think it was a time out due to political :boxing_smiley:. .
  7. :grouphug:Hugs & Prayers for you and the little one.:grouphug: Come out baby...your momma is ready.
  8. I don't designate days, but plan the meals out according to what's in the cupboard for the week. This week we are having Broccoli Fettucini Alfredo, garlic bread and a salad Meatloaf, baked potatoes, corn and fresh baked bread Oven rosemary & garlic potatoes with ham, onions and green beans with baked bread or rolls Rice and cornbread Tex Mex bake with tortilla chips and salsa Pizza night with a salad Rice with a Chinese stir fry Spinach Lasagna with garlic bread Baked Penne pasta with a red and white sauce served with garlic bread and a salad . (Sour cream:001_smile:) I have lots of broccoli on hand so I'll also be making a pot of soup at some point along with another batch of vanilla yogurt. Since we don't eat meat every day, I tend to try to make at least two batches of anything containing meat or oven baked then freeze the second. It just makes things easier.
  9. :grouphug:Big Congratulations! He's gorgeous.:grouphug:
  10. Bump, and update. I'm hot...yippee this is nearly a miracle for me. I'm turning the heat down from 70' to 69'. I hope the window kits and flannel sheets hold up through the temps when they drop below zero.
  11. Glad you're feeling better. :grouphug: I've been shocked how my pms has grown over the last year or two. I never worried much over my cycles except for the cramps and inconvenience. Now...watch out. The fatigue reminds me of being pregnant or jet lag, the need to sleep is crazy. And did I mention I get grumpy without enough sleep? The other symptoms for me are bloating, headache, book soreness, distracted brain and the kindness filter on my mouth disappears. If I was a kid, I threaten myself with duck-tape. :001_huh: TMI...This isn't to freak you out. Every woman is different, but perimenopause happens earlier than we expected and taking care of yourself helps. I've given up my favorite pms things...potato chips & soda, take vitamins, get extra sleep and drink things like hot coco or chamomile tea to settle the grump in me. My period can be a relief, but now that I've identified a pattern and accepted this is just a normal part of me...I'm dealing with it without driving my family to the far corners of the house. Oh, and if I'm feeling really grumpy I think about calling my dear-old-MIL. The idea that I might be acting anything like her helps with my attitude and she has the hide of a hyena. She's well beyond the middle of menopause, but she's managed to hold onto the meanness.:D
  12. This year I caved and put up the clear plastic on the windows. (17 of them.) I'm stunned that the temperature is three degrees higher in out coldest room. I had the thermostat set to 70/71' and the master bath temp (upstairs) was a constant 66'. I feel too warm with my fleece on today:001_smile:. You can call me happily surprised as I didn't think our windows were that bad. We use mini electric heaters for one room heating. Our main heater is gas along with a fireplace. Setting up the humidifier if you have one makes the place feel warmer and cuts down on static electricity. I/We layer up. Silk long-johns, socks, slippers a long sleeve-t or sweater topped with a fleece jacket. I have throws all over the place. My kids seem to be warmer than me, but even they were cold a few days ago. You can do an energy audit of your home. Just look on-line for tips and ideas. Baking indoors heats up my kitchen a bit. We caulked just about every nook and cranny. I open up the window if the sun is out. I'm not looking forward to our first gas bill. Last year it rose a little under 15%. I'm praying for a light winter. PS...I've purchased flannel sheets for every bed today, and can't wait to try them.
  13. Shop Vac???? If you have one, they work quickly. (Make sure you model is water safe.) Sorry about the mess. :grouphug:
  14. (((Jennefer))) I'll be praying for you. :grouphug:
  15. I understand.:grouphug: It would be tempting to uninvite him (or give him a gentle kick in the rear), but as long as he behaves and respects your house rules I'd allow him to attend. PS...My house rule is that we treat one another with respect and kindness or love if it's family. I give visitors a warning and then follow through with an eviction when necessary.
  16. What a blessing. I'm getting teary again. Don't forget to post a picture of Izzy, we feel like she's our baby too.
  17. I have to layer up starting with silk long johns. I'm considering fingerless gloves this year. Heating prices are going up. If you haven't winter prepped your home it isn't too late. Seal out drafts and if your windows aren't super, consider those blow dryer window shrink kits. Easy to put up and saves a lot. Door buddies can be made to look like Curious George and make great gifts especially this year. Stay warm everyone.
  18. I must be the odd ball. I wear my snow boots if my feet are cold, they are pretty much my winter wear for my feet. Silk long johns are wonderful. I like a good layer of fleece too. Head to fingers, we also have snow gear for super cold days. I'm not much of an outdoor walker then. Two of our malls are open for anyone. Seems like sometime in January to mid March or later, we just run in and out of places here. (Due to the ice, it's more walk as fast as you can.) Enjoy yourself. http://www.scheelssports.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ScheelsHomeView?langId=-1&storeId=10001&catalogId=10001
