  1. There doesn't appear to be any traffic light at that intersection. If there was, the black car (which I assume was VW's) would not have stopped to let that white car go from left to right first.
  2. I also learnt Italics as an adult and recommend Getty-Dubay for remediating bad hand writing. But I see it as the practical and efficient form of Italics. If anyone here is looking for elegant Italics, look at Barchowsky Fluent Handwriting.
  3. I found that if I go to the toilet and back to bed without opening one eye (or both, if I can manage) then I find it easier to go back to sleep.
  4. I am very sorry for your loss, Linda. ((hugs))
  5. There is an old schedule from WTMA for their one-year prep for rhetoric course, that combines WWS1-3 over 32 weeks. Let me know if you can't see the document I linked.
  6. Stress can affect our cycles, too. Even positive stress, like starting an exercise programme or losing a bit of weight.
  7. The Norton Sampler and The Brief Bedford Reader were recommended on the high school forum. ETA: On a more basic level, look at Essay Writing: Step-By-Step: A Newsweek Education Program Guide for Teens.
  8. I considered a laser printer, but then settled on the HP Officejet Pro 8620. It can print, fax, scan, copy, and connect to the web. It's per page cost is less than that of laser printers available here. Another option for you to consider.
  9. As Audrey and Lanny explained, if you get another Android phone and use the same Google/Gmail account, all your apps will transfer over. If you current phone is a Samsung, and your new phone is also a Samsung, you can use the app called Samsung Smart Switch to transfer everything from the old Samsung to the new one. If you switch to the iPhone, then you will have to register for a new Apple ID and get all your apps via the Apple Store. I don't think the apps you bought in the Google App Store will transfer over. Re. your question about the phone camera, the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge both have excellent cameras. The photo quality is even better than that on the iPhone 6/6S series. I listen to audio books and songs on my phone, and I also transfer videos and ebooks sometimes. When I looked at the iPhone, the lack of an SD card slot, and being forced to go through iTunes to transfer videos and audio books from the computer to the phone were deal breakers. I have used Android phones (one Sony and several Samsung ones) and am pleased with the Samsung Galaxy S7.
  10. My dd was allergic to peanuts, hazelnuts, chick peas, soy, dog epithilial cells, and dust mites. Peanuts caused her airways to constrict and she had difficulty breathing. A doctor said it was the beginnings of asthma and gave us a nebulizer for her. The second time this happened, my dh noticed the pattern and realized it was the peanuts. I was heartbroken because she used to love peanuts before. And I was puzzled, too, because peanuts have been a big part of our family's diet for generations. No one else I know is allergic to peanuts. She outgrew the peanut allergy by age 6. Now she loves peanuts again.
  11. This type of dance is done in many parts of the world. We just used two bamboo poles.
  12. What if he had no access to a gun? My heart breaks for the parents of the two little children.
  13. I remember the kcups-stealing in-laws, the tree-stealing neighbour, and the troll-with-12-kids who wanted to buy a mansion. :) That was the time I first started reading the chat board. After that I went back and read some of the other, older threads mentioned here, incl. the carpet removal one. ;-)
  14. Coming back to post the name of a book that I found very helpful: Healing the New Childhood Epidemics: Autism, ADHD, Asthma, and Allergies. It gives good medical and non-medical strategies to alleviate symptoms of these increasingly common issues with kids.
  15. My dd has always been very restless and fidgety. When she was younger, I used to give her a bedtime massage with jojoba mixed with a few drops of lavendar, vetiver, and cedarwood EOs. It used to calm her down enough for her to go to sleep. It may have been the massage more than the oils, and if there are no allergies, it is worth a try. It'll give you some mother-child quiet time, too.
  16. I bought the raspberry lemon and it is too sour for me. So I can't take the recommended amount at one time. I take a quarter tsp in a big glass of water. I mix it like Jann in TX described above.
  17. Can you upload it to your Google drive or DropBox and share the link here? I'd like to look at it, too.
  18. I follow 40plusstyle.com. She is a Dutch woman who lives in Singapore, and her suggestions are not too expensive for my budget. She also has blog contributors who are from the US and other countries.
  19. DD12 read all the seven books when she was 6 and 7. I'm sure she did not catch all the nuances of the politics, the racism, and the teen angst at that age. She just read the books to get the full story. She has re-read the last three books again since she turned 11. She is noticing more of those aspects now. :) I'm sure she will read the books yet again when she is a teen or young adult, and will notice even more shades then.
  20. There is a chapter in the WTM called Starting In The Middle that describes how to start a classical education with an older child. This article covers the same info in brief. Also, in her writing lectures, SWB advises parents starting to teach writing to a high schooler, to start with copywork, dictation, and narration, then progress through outlining, written narration, and short 1-2 page papers, before moving into high school writing.
  21. Please tell more. Which content do you and your dc like? How much does it cost? ETA: I found out it costs US$10 a month and is not yet available in Singapore. :(
