  1. I don't mean that D's like them but R's dont. I mean the person's politics track fairly closely. I don't know the political leanings of the couple or the RF. I don't like something merely because the party I don't agree with dislikes that thing or I love them because Fox hates them. Maybe that's what you mean with culture wars? I don't usually keep up with all the buzz words flying around, culture war, woke, that seemed to be quickly weaponized, but I try to understand them. I took a couple of classes in college that dealt with tracking things like this; it is certainly not new. I think you regularly state very solid beliefs For example, Disney is the worst of the worst, very sucky. You find it bizarre people who dislike the Gov somehow agree with what Disney has stated. But imo, I can dislike a company while still believing some of their actions are well thought out and they provide a lot of happiness to their visitors. It's not always an either-or. Another example would be atheism. I do not believe in any God. At all. Never. No regrets, no wonderings. A whol lot of terrible history due to religious beliefs, etc. But I can still very much enjoy and believe that there are religious leaders and followers who make the world better through their beliefs. You think we need to work to get above the culture wars? Can you not see your own absolutism is part of it?
  2. And how do you know we don't worry about others? Really, Melissa, these accusations are getting pretty wacky.
  3. This is a chat board, ffs. There are more discussions about the best type of frying pans than the prince. People matter. A person can have empathy for any type of human. It 's very obvious that discussions about him anger you, and I'm sorry.
  4. No I don't. Horrible? Disgusting? They're people. They are born into the family and they deal with it, some better than others. I feel sorry for the colonizing history, just as I feel bad about how my country has destroyed nations and people. But they're not going to go away, just as this country will continue to meddle and ruin. I know what it entails to try and change America's trajectory, but I have no idea how the UK citizenry could make them to away? But the US loved Diana, and we grew up watching her boys. There's no hatred for England just because of the Revolution, but that would be interesting to know how long any anti-England feelings lasted here. I think we also are known to root for underdogs, even a prince! And she's American. And people feel a need to defend her against the idiots who are racist. They really don't devour headlines, space, or attention here. Gossip websites, clickbait videos, stuff that's easy to scroll on by.It helps to know how trashy the main British tabloids are, some people don't realize they're closer to the National Enquirer than a basic newspaper.
  5. Want to go and make a chart, lol? Because it's political. Like every other thing now on the US. Seriously, if you have a couple of hours, you can cross reference those eye rollers vs sympathetic with past political comments and it tracks fairly closely. It's not just here, you can see it more clearly on FB and Twitter with political commentating from several big infotainment types and their followers and then those that dislike them. That's for the US, I have no idea about the rest of the world.
  6. It's obvious to me, from their previous posts. Of course they'll most likely come back with a denial, lol, but my guess is teens seeking transgender care.
  7. But to me, I think the likelihood of the NYPD being liars is on par with celebrities inflating events. I mean, I'm not a believer that celebs are evil liberals and ACAB, but it's the NYPD for goodness sakes, lol. I dont hold either in high regard at all.
  8. I meant the way media treated them in the past, in the US. When they stayed at some actor's home someone cut through the fence, there were photos of that online. And boats with photographers at the back of the property. People hounded her neighbors with offers of cash, one wanted a neighbor to put up a camera high up enough to get pics of the house, I think they neighbor did and sold some of those. Having strange, unknown men follow you down a street, if you're a famous woman or not, can be scary. I wonder if these in the latest incident are scummy American media or scummy, shameless UK. Either way, no one should have to put up with that level of harassment, it doesnt matter how big a celebrity they are. I wanted to add that it's similar to what I feel about politicians. Protest and picket outside of public events, but to approach them at their restaurant table and proceed to yell, or chase them down a sidewalk, is going too far, no matter what party they represent.
  9. Not meant for you, specifically, but why should their choice be to quit doing attention grabbing benefits? Even that term is a bit derogatory. These charities raise so much more money by having a such a high profile supporter. His whole adult life's job, aside from the armed service stint, was being involved in charities. I think he even admitted in and interview that he was never really trained to do anything else, and admitted to not being super intelligent with regard to school to career choices. I think books and interviews are their way of making money, no different than most other celebs or story tellers. She did a lot of charity work, too, before marrying him. Why can we not put the entire focus on media who are going beyond photographing them at events, or standing on the street corner trying see them out shopping. They are jumping fences to get in their yard, hounding neighbors for gossip, driving on the median of roads, swerving around other drivers, swarming around their car to keep them from escaping, etc. Knowing his mother died in this way, yet they have no shame in doing the same? All for the chance to get ridiculous amounts of money for a stupid picture of them or one of their children?? It shouldn't matter at all whether this couple is all innocent and lovely or whether they make you roll your eyes or if you think Meghan's a gold digger and he's a blot on the royal family. People do not deserve to be hounded by such rude, greedy, dangerous acting individuals. I think that was one of the main points of his book. The whole family depends on it to promote their way of life, but certain media coverage is beyond the pale.
  10. My first thoughts on this The white man asks the black man to reset the bike. Why should he? He was the one who unlocked it, not her She refuses to get off when the black man talks to her, yet gets off it when the white man directly speaks to her Hey, notice how this white lady can scream and fake cry and make a scene with people approaching around her, yet not a single person thinks to put her in a chokehold for 15 minutes until she is dead. The black men are lucky an American hero didn't show up and shoot them
  11. Now idea about cat mamas, but dog parents spend ridiculous amounts for their pups. You could sew bandanas, adorn collars, get that thing that presses out personalized dog tags, home-made treats, picture frames, or maybe those wooden raised frames that hold dog bowls. Sell on Marketplace or other online or town festivals. It's stuff that's small enough to for you to transport and store at your house.
  12. He worked as a security guard! The Texas DPS regulates private security guards in the state. He was vetted by the state! Texas has a bill now to hire a cop or Security Guard for every school. This killer, or one like him already 'vetted' , could have been paid to slaughter a school full of children.
  13. We may have gotten some things right, but we seem to be going gangbusters toward authoritarian leaders and that line between church and state is getting hazy from those trying to blur it out
  14. And let's not forget all of our old geezers of both genders in Congress, lol I think the royal family is made up of people similar to all of our families. Some members plod along doing their best, some are oddballs, some degenerates, some delightful and loving, intelligent, or seriously lacking in intelligence, whatever. Except they live in a freaky fishbowl and have all the niceties they can imagine. They are ever trying to build up their popularity by backstabbing other members, although they are polite enough to let their personal staff do this dirty work and basically look the other way as the UK's newspapers act as bad or worse than our own press. I fully expect William to have a mistress one day, if not already, and Kate will just accept it. I think Harry realizes he'd not get away with that as easily, but who knows. I do think he has done the correct thing by getting his wife and kids away from the family circus. I hope his children get true attention and love and time spent from both parents, something that I doubt most royal children ever get.
  15. I read that family members said the killer worked as a security guard
  16. There are many tiny towns around here that also have a very few cop cars, etc. Of course more would show up from other communities in a real emergency, but I would love to see you tell a parent or loved one or even a neighbor who knows where her friend's grandchild attends preschool to their face that they are being melodramatic if they saw emergency vehicles in front of a preschool. In today's world, irrational is not a term I'd use for this neighbor. Concern for others, usually not a trait to be mocked or derided. Of I was the relative, I would have given her a quick hug, told her it was Helpers Day but I understand how dire things are with such escalations in the murder of innocents.
  17. Does she know there is going to be a baby shower and the date of the party? If not, then I would say it borders on cruelty to take her to such a happy gathering and then tell her it's time to go back to a place that is still unsettling to her. It would also, in my opinion, cast a pall on the pregnant parents to see their loved one become agitated. You say family visits her daily. Could she have one of her favorite she asks for, maybe bring her a gift of sweets or family pics, but not from the party of course. That could alleviate any guilt or sadness from them while making the elderly relative feel good at least for a while. And then in a few weeks time, if she remembers the coming birth, someone could take her shopping and then to a restaurant where she could give the parents a gift? I think, with regard to memory-care facilities, they want the people to be happy 'in the moment', because eventually the present feeling is all they'll be aware of. They have seen countless instances of upset patients and they often do know better than the families. So in good facilities the employees plan multiple things daily. I've read articles where places have them play silly games and dress up in costumes, etc, and so many people act like "oh my god, don't ever let me so that, its so embarrassing". But they don't realize that these care homes that give a damn know the importance of making that current feeling of an Alzheimer's patient one of happiness or relaxed or contentment.
  18. I watch her videos on FB and youtube. They're so interesting
  19. Definitely freaky how it instantly went to about not making it an issue and wanting to stop a behavior! I hope you and your son are able to enjoy some solo time together. How old will he be? There's no way I could do amusement park rides beyond the kiddie versions, they make me so dizzy, even ones that don't spin!
  20. He doesn't look mentally unstable to me. It's the bib looking cloth, imo, that does that. But it's used on all of their mug shots, supposedly, to cover clothing and enhance facial recognition.
  21. Except they settled with a fine. No trial for their viewers to perhaps see the lies upon lies upon lies. Nothing will change.
  22. No, not all of them. Technology has advanced and I hoped there will be even better by 2030, when most of these changes will be enforced. Newer heat pumps can handle well below freezing temps. I'm outside of Rochester, and I'll guess it's much colder than TN. We've got a new one that has no trouble keeping us warm. I plan to take advantage if whatever credits will be given on a new purchase of an electric stove once our gas one bites the dust. Blanket statements do nothing to further the conversation about what can be done for pollution in and out of the home, for climate crises, for ways to help all of us adapt to what is coming, no matter what.
  23. It's a Stanley, lol. Like the thermos bottles my dad had. Maybe I'm too old to get all worked up about fancy, overpriced containers to hold my water. The companies that give this junk away to TT influencers sure are savvy marketers.
  24. That's a little odd, isn't it? He usually makes quite a fanfare of his signings.
  25. I did comment. Pinballs posted an article asking if a US billionaire died without us knowing. If you read the article, as I did, it said there's were other sources it could be, such as a gift tax, a pre tax before death( can't remember exactly, pretty boring) or a tax from a non-US billionaire. I commented that due to privacy laws we would not be entitled to know. And to reiterate, I still find news or gossip or whatever about people's finances boring. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it
