I actually was with my dad when he drove my daughter, me and of course himself from MI to CA with my 4 month old. We didn't stop to feed.... and diapers were fine... I actually nursed her while she remained in her carseat... Not a bottle the whole ride... but we didn't stop each time she wanted to eat. :) When my son was 3 weeks we traveled from OR to MI.... in his carseat for most of it.... And I picked the wrong airlines... it was 11 hrs in the airline... :)

Looking for dish washer recommendations

The cool thing about having it installed... is if they do it incorrectly.. and you don't sign away rights... they are responsible. I also say.. get the warranty.. check.. usually there's one that's offered with the store... on with the appliance... (Figure out the difference before you purchase) It's been worth it to me. The trip out is $60 and then I had my whole electronic panel repaired. That was as much as the whole repair package... :) -
If, for instance, I had someone who ended up living by us... or a foreign exchange student who was living with us... I would take whatever language they spoke. Otherwise Latin first.... I am wanting my daughter to learn Spanish... but from someone with a good accent... for not too much $$$.... :) Hopefully after 6 years of latin... she'll have a head start on learning Spanish... or perhaps French. :)

Yet Another Latin Curriculum Question
SonshineLearner replied to AlmiraGulch's topic in High School and Self-Education Board
http://www.lonepineclassical.com/courses.htm I really suggest this person. She emails you back!! It's amazing. I know the classes are really nearing full.. so if you want to look... do it quickly. :) (I have no relation to this lady. I just like the look of the school and have seen good things about her on here, too) -
RCA Henle I isn't live?
SonshineLearner replied to MommyThrice's topic in High School and Self-Education Board
http://www.lonepineclassical.com/courses.htm I have to say I am VERY impressed with this. I haven't used it, although I know others have. (on this board) But, she emails you back. The online class that I'm using right now, my daughter likes... but I've given up on communication with the Teacher. (she's using Henle, now) I would probably be doing the Lone one... but for here...it'd be 6:30 in the morning... I'm still slightly thinking about it. :) -
Do you cook foods you don't like?
SonshineLearner replied to JoyfulMama's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I make chili with a twist. I can't stand eating hamburger. So, I do it with chunks or meat that I kinda stir fry before I add them. I then do all of the other ingredients. I love lots and lots of beans. Then, I kinda pick around the meat... and give them to my husband's bowl. I top with sour cream, cheese... other such yummies.. We love big chunks of mushrooms... Yum!! I'm gonna eat that on Tues I think. BTW, I do cook some things that my husband likes that I don't. If chili was his bd meal.. I'd make it. Instead... his is CornSalmon "Hot Dish" ...(casserole) yuck! :) -

Autism and Classical Conversations?
SonshineLearner replied to Mrs.W's topic in The Learning Challenges Board
Hey There, I'm on the portal, which is a discussion board for the Directors of Programs (and some other people in different positions) Anyway, There are quite a few kids with "special circumstances"..... It can work. Can you still get in on an Open House? You can pm me if you need some help finding one... or info. I'm not sure how your son responds to noise... activity level... etc. Really, in our community and my State Director's too, I've been pleasantly surprised at how kind students are to one another! It's a wonderful blessing to see the love of Christ in action! :-) -

Ideas for Girl's Names
SonshineLearner replied to LindaOz's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I like Evangeline, shortened to Eva... (pronounced Ayva) I have a friend whose little cutie has this name. :-) -
I previewed her sample disk... for the english part I think. I was impressed. I'm not into it enough right now, as I do my own version of WRTR that is working for my son. BUT, if I was going to purchase a program I'd really look at it. Also, I don't plan on Latin till 3rd grade... I'll look at Lively Latin and this... at that time.. :-)

SonshineLearner replied to Jen the RD's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
I hope to use a combo of Singapore (one of the older series) and Video Text. My daughter is in 6th grade... I hope to make it through the end of 6B before she starts 7th grade, and then continue on. :-) -

Home Daycare Advice?
SonshineLearner replied to Renee in NC's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I'd look at a 4 or 5 day preschool for 4 hrs. (9am-1pm) You do lunch that you "make" with the kids... and send 'em on their way. Here that's about $300 a month I think?? Kinda a Montessori, Charlotte Mason, Mix.... Hands on activities.. nature walk. I also would look at the Core Knowledge Preschool book... (and maybe the curriculum?) I would make it absolutely as neutral as you can, but state if you're a Christian. Get out in the yard... build worm farms.. (do composting) anything that makes them get dirty and have fun. For me, I wanted something that would NOT be field trips... as I don't like my kids carted around in large groups. Anyway, you could do.... 8 kids with your 5 and 3 year old included... get the other kids involved.... Do it M-TH ....presto... $2400 a month and then you can decide what to do about Summers.... -

I wasn't made to eat anything... except for liver a few times. Really... I can't remember anything negative about eating... Yum to butter on Nabisco crackers... and other such yummies... along with other yummy homemade meals... Chx and dumplings, hamburger pot pie... ( I hate hamburger now, but still this is an incredible yummy memory) Chx pot pie, spaghetti.... tacos to die for. (My mom's version... hamburger, sour cream, olives, tomatoes...., cheese.... on and on.. yum!!) ;)
