Who’s going to tackle Saturday with me?
math teacher replied to Jean in Newcastle's topic in The Chat Board
I teach 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade math and reading, and my degree is in General Studies. I'm certified to teach PreK through 6th grade in Texas, as well as Special Education 1-12. -
Best of luck to you-prayers and hugs

My word for the year is Restore. Specifics goals are daily devotions, healthy eating, and exercise. I also love the idea of 52 challenges. I work over a lot in my classroom, but some of the challenges could involve my time there. I am putting things in place so that hopefully I won't spend as much time there next year.

Popular/Highly Recommended Books - you just don't get
math teacher replied to Dainty's topic in The Chat Board
The Shack-just really didn't get into it. Concerning Moby Dick and Pride and Prejudice, I think if I had tried to read the books, I wouldn't have enjoyed them. However, listening to them on audio while driving to work made them a better experience. I really don't think I could have slogged through. Same for Count of Monte Cristo and Great Expectations. -
We had fried fish, sweet potato fries, and potato salad. Tomorrow after morning service, we'll have beans with ham bone, rice, and cornbread. I have to leave to take my parents to the doctor, but dh and ds will probably have cornbread and buttermilk for dinner tomorrow night.

Mine is Restore-as in spiritual and physical primarily, but anything is game. What is everyone using to help yourself achieve what you want to achieve in reference to your word of the year? I'm thinking about some kind of goal oriented app, but I'm open to suggestions. Love all the words

MIL had to go to ER Christmas Eve-her blood pressure was stroke stage and she was having visual disturbances. (She refuses to take her meds.) ER treated the blood pressure and sent her home-no ct, mri or anything. Christmas Day, she hadn't even checked her bp and didn't take meds. The 26th, I had just sat down at my desk when I got a call to take her to the walk in clinic. They sent her to ER. BP was stroke stage and her visual disturbances were worse. She's already had TIAs and at least one stroke. They did all kinds of tests (different hospital) and we are waiting on results. She's pitching a fit to go home-she just wants them to treat and release-wishes she hadn't come up there. I'm pretty fed up with her. Take your medicine lady.

I am doing the majority of the cooking for tomorrow-maybe all the cooking. I hope that is not the new normal, but mil and aunt in law are really not up to it. If this is the new normal, I'm going to need a bigger refrigerator and a double oven. -

I just listened to a podcast about fax machines the other day. I think they will hang around. -

My son has trouble cashing the checks his grandpa sends him. He has a bank account, but not where he lives, so it's understandable. Our trash service doesn't have debit option. At least they didn't six months ago when we moved here. I write out checks for them. -

While driving home from church today, I passed a dry cleaner and wondered how long those will still be around. -
You are very lucky indeed.

This is exactly what I have been wanting to post. OP, my heart hurts for you. I hope you and your dh can figure out what you want as a couple/family-not as a continuation of his Christmas ideas. It needs to be a partnership. No wonder you are bitter.
