Popular/Highly Recommended Books - you just don't get
math teacher replied to Dainty's topic in The Chat Board
The Shack-just really didn't get into it. Concerning Moby Dick and Pride and Prejudice, I think if I had tried to read the books, I wouldn't have enjoyed them. However, listening to them on audio while driving to work made them a better experience. I really don't think I could have slogged through. Same for Count of Monte Cristo and Great Expectations. -
We had fried fish, sweet potato fries, and potato salad. Tomorrow after morning service, we'll have beans with ham bone, rice, and cornbread. I have to leave to take my parents to the doctor, but dh and ds will probably have cornbread and buttermilk for dinner tomorrow night.

Mine is Restore-as in spiritual and physical primarily, but anything is game. What is everyone using to help yourself achieve what you want to achieve in reference to your word of the year? I'm thinking about some kind of goal oriented app, but I'm open to suggestions. Love all the words

MIL had to go to ER Christmas Eve-her blood pressure was stroke stage and she was having visual disturbances. (She refuses to take her meds.) ER treated the blood pressure and sent her home-no ct, mri or anything. Christmas Day, she hadn't even checked her bp and didn't take meds. The 26th, I had just sat down at my desk when I got a call to take her to the walk in clinic. They sent her to ER. BP was stroke stage and her visual disturbances were worse. She's already had TIAs and at least one stroke. They did all kinds of tests (different hospital) and we are waiting on results. She's pitching a fit to go home-she just wants them to treat and release-wishes she hadn't come up there. I'm pretty fed up with her. Take your medicine lady.

What are you vowing to change about next year’s holidays?
math teacher replied to Caraway's topic in The Chat Board
Next year I won't put as much candy in the stockings. Way too much candy. -

I am doing the majority of the cooking for tomorrow-maybe all the cooking. I hope that is not the new normal, but mil and aunt in law are really not up to it. If this is the new normal, I'm going to need a bigger refrigerator and a double oven. -
For fun: what current things will be gone/almost gone by 2030?

I just listened to a podcast about fax machines the other day. I think they will hang around. -

My son has trouble cashing the checks his grandpa sends him. He has a bank account, but not where he lives, so it's understandable. Our trash service doesn't have debit option. At least they didn't six months ago when we moved here. I write out checks for them. -

While driving home from church today, I passed a dry cleaner and wondered how long those will still be around. -
You are very lucky indeed.

This is exactly what I have been wanting to post. OP, my heart hurts for you. I hope you and your dh can figure out what you want as a couple/family-not as a continuation of his Christmas ideas. It needs to be a partnership. No wonder you are bitter.

30 Day Self-Reflection Challenge Day 7
math teacher replied to Granny_Weatherwax's topic in The Chat Board
1. Being left out of schedule changes at work-I'm not part of a grade level team, so sometimes I'm left out of the loop. I understand it, but it still bugs me. 2. Service people who don't do their job. 3. That my mom expects my dad to do so much around the house when she is perfectly able to do more herself. -
should I go to urgent care / Minute Clinic?
math teacher replied to ktgrok's topic in The Chat Board
Hope you went and they gave you meds so you can feel better soon. -
Leftovers are in the fridge, but no one wants them today. We went to Tacos4Life for lunch, and I'm making eggs, bacon, and toast for dinner. Ds will leave sometime in the morning hours. His sleep is messed up so he'll wake up and drive 3.5 hours back to college. Dh works tomorrow and i will go in and write lesson plans and whatever else i find to do. Got some of the Christmas decor up. Ds told me I didn't need to fill his stocking. Sniff sniff

Just that it would make me think of heart problems. The only symptoms my dad had was shortness of breath and jaw pain. He failed a stress test and had a quadruple bypass the next day.

Any shortness of breath?

I've been coughing for over a month. Started with slight sore throat and cough. Went to walk in clinic, got a steroid shot and cough syrup and it just wouldn't go away. I went back a week ago-he did chest x-ray and labwork. Labwork was fine, chest xray showed a granulo something that was completely walled off-just calcium. He sent me for a ct scan- I thought that was a little bit overkill, but i went anyway. Scan came back unremarkable. Have you ever coughed this long and what can I do to make it stop. I've tried Histex (RX), some kind of little rx pill that deadens the throat, Mucinex, elderberry capsules and most recently prilosec because a doctor told me once I was coughing because of GERD.
