  1. What does she bake? I really like my bosch and feel it is a good quality machine. I make a lot of bread. It also does great with cookie dough and cake batter though. I killed a kitchenaid making bread in it (an artisan not a professional for what it's worth).
  2. These are yum (follow reviews for directions using a mixer if you don't have a bread machine). http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Sweet-Dinner-Rolls/Detail.aspx?event8=1&prop24=SR_Thumb&e11=rolls&e8=Quick%20Search&event10=1&e7=Home%20Page
  3. These are some of our breakfast recipes on my blog: http://thewilsonslivinglife.blogspot.com/search/label/breakfast Of particular interest might be the protein packed pancakes (just scroll down). They are thinner than normal pancakes but would probably make a good sandwich with nut butter/banana/her favorite things.
  4. Oreo balls are what I am famous for. 1 package oreos (crushed) and 1 package of softened cream cheese. Combine in a mixer till mostly homogeneous. Refrigerate for at least an hour, roll into balls (the smaller the better, they are rich), refrigerate again. Dip in your favorite chocolate (almond bark works the best for me, but whatever kind works for you). If I am using a specialty oreo or an oreo with a thicker filling then I can get by with 1/2 package of cream cheese. Its pretty foul proof though. Christmas morning is usually cinnamon rolls. I use Clone of a Cinnabon on allrecipes.
  5. Google the cold and flu bomb (uses essential oils). I find it pretty effective, I just started rubbing it on my feet again this morning for a little sore throat.
  6. It's the deal of the day on qvc. I admit I don't think I'd like the new "timed" focus on the machine instead of more control over the speed. Regardless it was $429 today. http://www.qvc.com/Vitamix-6000-64-oz.-Automatic-12-in-1-Blender-Kitchen-&-Food.product.K39826.html?sc=K39826-Targeted&cm_sp=VIEWPOSITION-_-1-_-K39826&catentryImage=http://images-p.qvc.com/is/image/k/26/k39826.001?$uslarge$
  7. http://allrecipes.com/recipe/quick-and-easy-pizza-crust/ I cook it on a stone in the oven. I do 1/2 whole wheat flour. It's the fastest and best dough, it rolls out easily too.
  8. I'm not sure how long this has been happening, maybe for over a month (though its to varying degrees). I wake up most mornings with a terribly sore neck. We did take the latex topper off the bed at the end of August I think. It hurts so bad when I wake up that initially lifting my head off the bed was excruciating this morning. Is it just a sore neck or is there something terribly wrong with me? And what can I do to make it better and prevent it from recurring? Maybe we should put the latex back on and see (or I could sleep on the guest bed to see if changing things would help).
  9. White chicken chili - this recipe: http://www.melskitchencafe.com/2008/09/creamy-white-chili.html Its amazing and so easy! Some of my family likes it over rice, others just eat it plain or with tortilla chips. You must try it! And while you are at it, the blog I linked to is my favorite and has tons of fabulous recipes, its definitely worth perusing in your free time!
  10. Sounds similar to this recipe a friend made for me one time: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/apricot-chicken-i/
  11. What do you want to do. I'm from Brunswick, ga and live in jacksonville, fl. Museums? There are some forts that aren't currently open due to shutdown (I think). We are going to the sea turtle museum on Jekyll island tomorrow, there is a groupon/living social deal right now still I think. Beaches, historic Jekyll island? St Simons lighthouse? Not sure how much of a detour you want to take?
  12. I don't know about the one referenced here but the baked oatmeal I make does bake into bars. http://www.lynnskitchenadventures.com/2009/02/baked-oatmeal.html I use 1.5 recipe in a 9x13 pan, omit raisins, and use honey instead of sugar. I freeze leftovers and nuke for about 1.5 minutes to reheat. That site above also has a really good PB baked oatmeal.
  13. Particularly when it is multiple kids sick we stay home. When they were younger and more apt to wipe their nose with their hands we stayed home too.
  14. Here is the math u see guy explaining. MUS is what we use, we use the blocks (and paper) and do a bunch of problems together and then normally the kid has it. Normally my kids can watch their math videos and go off and do it, but this and a few other more complicated concepts have me doing the math with the kid for a while.
  15. You have to keep checking back, but it was working when I just checked (and we watched it from there a couple days ago).
  16. What do you mean place value helps? We've used mus for the past five years and he still talks about place value regularly but I'm not sure what you mean by helps.
  17. So, while I was browsing fossil sale for a new watch I saw this bag and remembered your bag and thought it was similar. http://www.fossil.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=12052&langId=-1&catalogId=25005&categoryId=378084&productId=22198774&imagePath=ZB4524216
  18. So, I've taught two other kids to read using this book, child #3 is stumping me. We are at about lesson 10. When sounding out a word himself he stops between the sounds EVERY TIME. How do I teach him not to? I have used OPG after 100 EL (skipping about 1/3 through) but I kind of feel like it it too explanatory. My child is 4.5 by the way (same age as the others when they started) and seems ready, maybe 100 Easy lessons isn't the book for him? It sure was easy and worked terrifically for my others though.
  19. I had a friend with a small but still big trampoline in an upstairs bedroom with a higher ceiling. My kids loved going to her house. It had the enclosure thing and everything still. Not sure what size it was though. How much space do you have?
  20. Making our breakfast from scratch keeps my kids fuller longer. Baked oatmeals are frequent and cheap (can top with nut butter and put in a bowl with milk if you like): http://www.lynnskitchenadventures.com/2009/05/peanut-butter-baked-oatmeal.html and this http://www.lynnskitchenadventures.com/2009/02/baked-oatmeal.html (raisins optional!) are favorites. A baked french toast thing is yummy (I don't add any sweetener and we sweeten our plates with maple syrup, just like french toast). Baked oven (dutch baby) pancakes are favorites. Pancakes are good, whole wheat blender pancakes are easy and healthy or this overnight oat pancake was good (http://www.melskitchencafe.com/2013/08/ems-famous-overnight-oatmeal-cinnamon-pancakes.html). I make energy balls for snack its a filling little thing (I don't add chocolate chips) that paired with fruit makes a good snack! http://www.gimmesomeoven.com/no-bake-energy-bites/ Popcorn is pretty inexpensive and you can make it on the stove with coconut oil. Helps with the just need to munch craving. I could probably think of more. Oh, we don't do meat as a main dish, its always in something, a casserole or stew, etc.
  21. I don't do well with that recipe, but I think I might have the opposite problem, mine always turn out flat as a pancake. Did you use regular flour (not bread flour)?
  22. I should add, I use 1/3 cup honey instead of the 1/2 cup brown sugar.
  23. Peanut butter baked oatmeal, easy to pack too. You can even make them into muffins (or throw some chocolate chips in there when you are feeling zany!). http://www.lynnskitchenadventures.com/2009/05/peanut-butter-baked-oatmeal.html
