  1. You can get Spelling curriculum fairly inexpensive. The Core actually suggests WRTR followed by Spelling Plus. These books are a great non-consumable investment and will give you guidance should you need it.
  2. 25 pounds lost using WW. I vary per week. I mostly eat all the points given to me and still lose. You are on the "honeymoon phase" and it will eventually not feel like enough points. 😄 Most members say that their first few weeks. Make sure you get in all the healthy foods that are required such as the oils. Maybe don't skimp on dairy and get the full-fat to make it feel less like you are overeating.
  3. I wonder if I can use the enter key? I can!!! I need to edit my signature now. 😊
  4. Check to see if your 4H club has a robotics team. My DS has made friends that way. He is also in a Scratch programming club. The boys run that on their own though. Moms just rotate hosting it.
  5. We used it for a semester when my son was in 1st through a statewide virtual school. This was when I first started homeschooling. It was both online and workbooks with a teacher guide. It was ok but I wasn't sad when the state pulled the program midyear. Honestly, I did much of it without the video instruction and ds watched during his screen time to work through the program. I don't know if that will make you feel better but I bet you will have time for supplementation. We had to turn in a few assignments to our appointed "teacher" and she did a reading assessment with him over the phone and gave me tips for further instruction. Overall, it wasn't invasive or time consuming. But I don't understand why a public school would choose that for their curriculum. .....Sorry. I think you should try to negotiate something better, if you can. Hugs to you!!!
  6. I order them all the time. I don't need a big hamburger or fries but like an occasional treat.
  7. Since it went away and returned, it could be an infected sinus. But first try rinsing with a netipot for a few days to see if that clears things up.
  8. My dh wouldn't wear a Speedo and I wouldn't wear a string bikini. That's what I would assume it meant. All torsos and butt cheeks covered, girls and guys alike. Was this an invite to a Youth event? That specification isn't that uncommon for a Youth party.
  9. We had one in a very small house. It was only useful up to about 80 degrees. The humidity in MO is such that you want the AC on. And I couldn't use it during the cooler temp times because those were when my seasonal allergies were at their worst.
  10. For my youngest, OPGTR. But then I switched to CLE Learning to Read and that finally got him going. I felt like it made it easy to teach him to read. The instruction was clear and well laid out. He was bored to tears with OPG. For my DS who is now 10, I used 100 EZ and whatever readers I could find. I didn't really like it so I didn't use it one my youngest. He also did some ETC and then we moved into CLE200. I didn't know about CLE before that.
  11. If I can't wash immediately, I hang them, but it's on a hanger on my bathroom door. Perhaps a wash bucket to soak until they can get washed?
  12. I'd tape a list to the closet door and label what it is in the boxes carefully. When you are planning, make a checklist of your planning steps that includes checking your supplies in that closet. If you want to tinker with Evernote, go ahead but I think you should work within the framework you are comfortable.
  13. Put a Post-it note in the teacher manual or whatever you are using to introduce or teach that topic to remind yourself to pull it out of the closet.
  14. Chiropractor to help fix the posture. Did the therapist offer any core strengthening exercise to he' the posture? If so, make her do them. See an orthopedist about the feet and get a referral for therapy (use a different therapist, the one you saw should not have said shes not made to run. That's bunk.) my DS has to wear a brace and do stretches to help his leg pain from flat feet. His bones grew faster than his muscles so he had shorter muscles in that leg and it caused out-toeing. He couldn't run before therapy but he can now!!! Karate has helped loosen him up as well. So that's why I think that therapist is wrong. Our therapist worked to get him running again and trained him to be able to do it as part of the therapy. His feet aren't as flat either.
  15. I turned off the Xbox last summer. I actually hid both of them along with their DS's. If anyone said they were bored I handed them a scrub brush and put them to work on the floors or pulling weeds. It only took once! They found things to do such as building massive buildings with the huge amount of Legos we already have, Lego robotics, drawing pictures about the video games they used to play, playing card or board games, programming on Kubo or Scratch (with permission and time limits), working on 4H projects, or reading Garfield books. My kids now fall into the "play with a cardboard box for hours" category.
  16. I'm sure you can call them to get a quote. Call around to get the best price. Office supply stores do printing as well.
  17. These is My Words is one of my favorites. It has a bit of romance but it isn't sappy like most westward journey historical fiction.
  18. It seems touch/feel and weight matter to you and him. Make sure it feels soft. Maybe check out a department store that has them out for display so you can feel the quality. You might also consider having him fold the comforter at his feet and using a blanket instead. Blankets are easier to wash and feel softer. It will allow the comforter to last longer too. Another suggestion is to buy a quilt with softer fabric.
  19. Tacos! Make them on the stove top. I change it up, taco salad, hard shells, or soft tortillas. We also like chicken brats on the grill with a side of baked beans, watermelon, and carrot sticks.
  20. Folger's French vanilla or Dunkin Donuts
  21. Ps, now I'm tempted to survey my CC community. 😉 I could be wrong!!! But among my friends, they really dig into the material and have no fear of teaching their children!
  22. you are only talking about a small sampling but seem to still want to indicate that it is a trend. The increased enrollment is accurate but I think the reasons are far more varied among those enrolling. If your question was about these few that your know and you tried to encourage them without results, then it really might come down to, "I can, but I really don't want to do the work to get to that point," But for some parents that's harder to voice than "I can't". And I'm not sure that I even see a problem with that as a choice for that type of parent. But I don't think the over all "I can't teach" so I'll enroll in a co-op or CC is a trend.
  23. Yes, it is changing but I think the perception of some of the "old timers" is way off. I appreciate the road that has been paved for us to make choices. To say those decisions are generally based on fear is very inaccurate and shows a lack of understanding behind some of the programs we choose to participate in. Many of us are still sitting at the kitchen table with our students and learning material so that we can teach it next week, month, or year (yes, even those of us enrolled in CC). We aren't just trusting someone else to educate our children and know that we will do the best job. But really the tutor's job in CC is to facilitate peer discussion and presentations, not to teach. Teaching is the parents' job. Also, some people just don't want to do it alone. I love that I have friends to call that are struggling through the exact same materials or have the perfect idea to get my DS over that academic hump because they've been there with that same curriculum. It isn't always about feeling like we can't teach it or being afraid that we can't figure it out. ..... And the cost of college keeps going up, why not dual credit and spread some of that out over 5-7 years? I really only see this trend around here to get in the lab courses required for graduation.
  24. Skydrive and I backup my PC online using Backblaze.
