2009-2010 school year...What are you using?

Recommended Posts

I got this idea from Wildiris in another thread. Here is her post, so you don't have to wade through the whole thing.

Interactive Science comes from Singapore, via the same folks who bring Singapore math curricula to the U.S. It is for middle school, and covers life and physical science. It is secular. It has a lab book, but some of the experiments are not safe to do at home. And for the others, I would have to try to figure out substitutions and hunt down supplies. I really hate that kind of thing, so I probably won't use the lab book that comes with the curricula, just the text and workbook.

The kit from National Geographic can be found here. I don't know how good the experiments are, or what types are included. The brand name has me thinking that it should be worthy. I will not try to match up the experiments with the IS books, just work through the books and the kit as seperate entities.

I'm pretty certain that I've got it all planned out as listed, but am doing my best to keep blinders on from this point out. I will be buying up curriculum in parts between May and August rather than all at once. This will be the most expensive year since starting our hs, but it is still a lot less expensive than private school!!

Tapestry of Grace - Yr. 1 (The Ancients to fall of the Roman Empire)

Includes literature, writing, and the arts for upper grammar. I will be supplementing with additional fine arts classes - lots of hands on.

Easy Grammar and Daily Grams - Grade 5

Spelling Power

Math-U-See - Epsilon

Latin for Children - Primer B

Getty Dubay Italic Handwriting F

General Science a la local Christian university homeschool outreach

I thought you decided on The Lost Tools of Writing? Did you not like it? :)

Both for ME and ds. I fear it is going to kill his love of writing. He may not be quite ready for it. I am not sure. I do *have* it, but I am leaning toward Writing Strands. Of course, I have bought that, too, and am just waiting for its arrival. Where is that thread on bein a curriculum junkie????:D
