Mrs. Readsalot
The one I like best was the Bridgestone tire commerial with the Potato Heads...it is very funny! I always like the clydesdale commericals and this year was no exception Here is a link to the potatoe head commerical http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xE1HeVRmioM Karen Edited February 2, 2009 by Mrs. Readsalot
Highereducation
Probably bad taste, but I will admit to spitting my drink all over the place during the Dorito commercial when the guy threw the snow globe and hit his boss in the unmentionables.:D The guy who played the boss looked so much like Stan Fischler (hockey commentator) that it made it even funnier. That was pretty funny. I realized I must have a low level of humor because the ones that made me laugh were the slapstick ones where someone gets hurt. (The one where people kept getting hurt and then saying, "I'm OK"). Actually, I didn't think that the commercials were all that terribly funny this year. Way too many car commercials. Miss Marple
Toss up between the Potato Heads and the 'career change' commercial (can't remember the name of the company, though).
dirty ethel rackham
I loved the 'hulu" ones with Alec Baldwin - changing your brains into mush!! Too funny. However, many commercials were just WAY too sexually suggestive for the audience. My kids wanted to watch the commercials, but I was fed up with the teasing of big boobs and talk about seeing someone naked. At least I didn't see any ED commercials. NorthwestMom
My kids loved the 3D commercials. I thought the talking wilted flowers were funny but very inappropriate for family viewing.
BritAnnia
I agree, and today when I read in the news that a portion of viewers in AZ had a few seconds of pornography interrupt their signal, my first thought was "And some of the commercials weren't bordering on that?" :tongue_smilie: My dh liked the guy ad, "I'm okay!" (monster.com?) and dd just guffawed at the other job site ad, the one that kept repeating the woman screaming in her car. (careerbuilder.com) I'm a softy, I love the clydesdale ads :)
WTMindy
I really hate the stupid suggestive ads!!! (Like the Doritos ad where the girl's clothes flew off!) My kids just do NOT need to see that!!!!!

Jennifer in MI
I really hate the stupid suggestive ads!!! (Like the Doritos ad where the girl's clothes flew off!) My kids just do NOT need to see that!!!!! I AGREE!!! There was another one where guys were watching a woman shower and another woman joined the first. It said you could go on line and watch the rest. Ugh. ALL my kids were watching at that point. It prompted some wonderful conversation about how to treat women though! That said, I thought the "I'm okay" commercial was hilarious. I also liked the Potato Head commercial probably because I'm a lot like the Mrs. when dh is driving!!! I'm sure he wanted my mouth to go flying across a canyon, but (lucky for him) he didn't say anything!!
Unicorn.
That one was my favorite too. Dh and I were ROFL! The go daddy dot com commercials ruined everything though, I almost turned it off. Even dh and ds were disgusted!
NorthwestMom
Yes, the Doritos ad was also over the top for a time when young children are watching TV! I am not conservative, but even I have my limits. Jeez.
Andie
I liked the one for dog food (um...I think lol) that showed people with all sorts of wild pets (especially the elderly lady chasing the ostrich running out of her house "You bad, bird! lol) that ended with, "Maybe you should get a dog!" The Potato Heads were cute. I'll admit to laughing when the guy flew out the window after daring to suggest they cut the beer out of the meeting budget. farmgirlinwv
I didn't like any of them. I thought the creativity was very poor. The worst superbowl ads I've ever seen. FTR, I DESPISE the Cheetos commercials! I love the Clydesdales, but those commercials were not up to par. They've been MUCH better in past years. I KNEW it. People in rescue were talking about how great this ad was & would promote adoption but I thought it sucked & didn't get the point across at all. It was supposed to be an ad for the Pedigree Adoption Drive - to place homeless pets in new homes. This ad was cute but it just says 'get a dog'; doesn't say anything about from where, or about the 3-4 million dogs & cats put to sleep annually...... Truly, all I remembered was the Pedigree name, and that was after thinking for a moment. Of course, I was distracted -chatting with my daughters- and was watching from my deathbed, so maybe the less stuffy-headed in the viewing audience "got" it? :( I'll donate an extra bag of dog food this month in your honor. Andie
I'll donate an extra bag of dog food this month in your honor. Oh, sheesh. I just connected you to your blog. (Because I'm smart like that, and there's that link RIGHT THERE...;)) I wasn't being a smart aleck about the dog food, really. But I can't do raw dog food. The shelter won't take it! Awww, that's sweet. Thank you. I saw it online (no cable & no football fans here) and I thought the msg was hard to find. I have a problem with the 'get a dog' line anyway. Esp now with backyard breeders, brokers and even pet shops using the word 'adopt' for their sales...... Ah well. It is a funny ad & a good laugh is always welcome. Hope you're feeling better! astrid
the Bob Dylan "Forever Young" Pepsi commercial. LOVED it. Loved the Clydesdales, especially the one about his grandfather (grandsire!) emigrating from Scotland. The rest? Meh. And Hornblower, I was also ticked off by the Pedigree ad. Yeah. Buy a dog so you can buy more Pedigree. NOTHING about adoption, etc. Astrid (a Coke drinker, but loved the Pepsi commercial nonetheless)
Angel
The Coke ad with the insects stealing the coke and then drinking it from the "waterfall!" Absolutely my favorite! The Clydesdale coming to America was great, too. At co-op today we were discussing the suggestive tones of the commercials. Horrible! And there wasn't just a few! I'm horrified that they allow this.
