Melissa in Australia
Neighbour across the road thought it would be just a peachy day to light up one side of their property to "burn a few gum leaves" 😲😲😲😲 There are summer fire restrictions in place Today is 34oC with a wind blowing our way Tomorrow there is an extreme heat warning and meant to be 38oC plus with wind The CFA has just managed to put out the grass fire. It burned up to the road but didn't jump the road Some people are beyond stupid. I still feel jittery. I have decided I don't do well with fires, not at all.   1
Jean in Newcastle
Do they get a fine for breaking the fire restrictions? Â 5
Melissa in Australia
I really hope a huge one. It is late summer here, February is the worst month in the year for fires.
Melissa in Australia
Before the CFA arrived, they were trying to put the grass fire out with 1 bucket and a straw broom. No hose in site. No pump. By that stage it was about 1/2 acre burning Edited February 16, 2023 by Melissa in Australia
Amethyst
Unbelievable! Some people have no sense at all! 1
TheReader
Oh my word, that's horrible. I'm so glad the CFA was able to get the fire out.
saraha
That must have been terrifying. I just want to slap them for you 1
fraidycat
Ugh. What an idiotic thing to do. I'm sorry. I would have trouble not resorting to physical violence toward them on something that. incredibly. stupid.  I hope you are able to calm down soon.  I really just want to come over there and punch your neighbour and scream at them. I feel very ragey on your behalf. 1

It’s average here today and Port Lincoln has a nasty sounding fire 😞 hope they get on top of it and your neighbours get whatever helps to improve their decision making skills next time 😬
Rosie_0801
What kind of rock have those crazy buggers been hiding under? It's not like the last fires were long enough ago to have been forgotten about.

HomeAgain
Good grief. Not even in a burn barrel? We have townfolk that think nothing of burning a pile in their yard. I get that I grew up where fire was a much bigger danger, but it just seems reckless not to contain it in any way because "that's always how we've done it".
LMD
Far out, I'd be very angry. I was annoyed when our neighbours legally burnt off but left some smouldering bits that the wind picked up. 7 fire trucks and a worse for wear tree and it was all fine.
