MaBelle Posted January 3, 2020 Posted January 3, 2020 My mac n' cheese is pretty good but tomorrow night I need amazing. What should I top it with, I want something crunchy. Dried onions? Crackers? Quote
May Posted January 3, 2020 Posted January 3, 2020 Isn’t bacon suppose to make everything taste even better😊 3 Quote
livetoread Posted January 3, 2020 Posted January 3, 2020 I sprinkle bread crumbs on top of mine and then add another layer of extra sharp cheddar. It makes a heavenly crunchy top if you leave it in the oven long enough, or put it under the broiler. 1 Quote

I do something similar - I use panko bread crumbs and mild cheddar (because I like it better) and just bake it long enough so that it's got a nice cheesy crust on top. It's absolutely the best part of the mac n cheese! I could just eat that and be so happy. Quote
Loowit Posted January 3, 2020 Posted January 3, 2020 I usually do ritz crackers with butter, although bacon does sound good. Quote

The panko is my favorite part. I do this, too. Also, I have switched from baking my mac n' cheese in a regular 9x13" pan to a rimmed half-sheet (18x13") pan. My family loves that there is twice as much crunchy stuff! 1 Quote
Bambam Posted January 3, 2020 Posted January 3, 2020 We've used crushed croutons before. Ritz crackers with butter is also good. Quote
EKS Posted January 3, 2020 Posted January 3, 2020 Panko mixed with parmesan. If you like smoke flavor, like bacon, add smoked paprika. Quote
Terabith Posted January 3, 2020 Posted January 3, 2020 Ritz crackers crumbled up with butter here Quote
Pippen Posted January 3, 2020 Posted January 3, 2020 What about letting people choose the toppings? We had this at a grad party and it was a huge hit. Bacon, green onions, sour cream, salsa, chopped veggies, etc. Quote
Carol in Cal. Posted January 3, 2020 Posted January 3, 2020 Mixture of parmesan and bread crumbs. Quote
