Sharon37127
I'm sure this has been discusses, but I can't seem to find anything. We've never used either. I'm sure there is a ton more great videos by purchasing, but since we have never gone that route, would be just as pleased with the Plus? Penguin
It depends. Do you have reliable internet? GCplus relies on streaming capability. Do you want to dowload videos to an ipad for traveling? I don’t think you can do that with GCplus but I am not 100% sure. Are the courses you want on GCplus? We have the GC plus and it is great for our needs right now. chiguirre
Do you need video? For some classes it's essential but most are fine with just the audio. We like to listen to them in the car. Trinqueta or I can just pause the lecture and discuss whenever we want and we find it easier to focus in the car. There are lots of courses available on Audible for one credit (credit prices depend on what specials they're running).
foxbridgeacademy
For me most everything I want is on Plus, the courses that aren't are to expensive to buy new, even on sale and I can't find them used. The idea of paying around $150 (we require video) for 1 course when just a little more than that gives me access to 100's for a year made Plus the obvious choice for us. katilac
You will be very pleased with Plus, I think. There are tons of videos available. We own lots of DVDs from before it was available, but I love that you can pick and choose certain lectures on Plus, rather than committing to the entire series. I don't have Plus right now, bc my only student is keeping ALL of us super busy with a packed DE schedule plus college search, but I will get it again once things calm down. For the price, dh and I will watch enough just for fun and interest to make it worthwhile. If the college kids use it occasionally, all the better. If you have high speed internet, definitely try it. katilac
I just discovered this for Amazon Prime members, fewer lectures but still a lot, at a nice little discount: https://www.thegreatcoursesplus.com/amazonsignaturecollection
Epicurean
GC Plus is $50 per month, right? Does the subscription price ever go on sale?
TarynB
GC Plus is $50 per month, right? Does the subscription price ever go on sale? It's $19.99 per month, or you can buy an annual subscription that works out to $14.99 per month.
katilac
It's $19.99 per month, or you can buy an annual subscription that works out to $14.99 per month. And the Amazon Prime Signature Collection is $7.99 per month, great if they have titles you can use. It's only 1/3 or so of the titles of the regular subscription, but that's still nearly 3,000 titles with 1-2 being added monthly. You can browse the Amazon collection here: https://www.amazon.com/b/ref=dvm_us_hl_pm_tgcFAQ_encoding=UTF8&benefitId=thegreatcourses&node=2858778011
katilac
And, if your library has Hoopla, check to see if they have any Great Courses. Mine has about 50 that I can stream.

This is probably what I will use once my homeschooling days end. OP, if you want the pdf booklets for the discussion questions, you do gain access to the booklets with both audible and Great Courses Plus.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! We haven't been using GCP much this year and it costs over $21/month with tax. I was about to cancel and this info makes me feel so much better!
frogger
We listen to most our lectures through Audible. The don't have ones that require video of course. I usually get them with my credit that comes with subscribing so the real cost is $14.95. I have seen some that are cheaper then the credit but only the shorter ones. Saddlemomma
We have GCP and love it. They are used in almost every class. We literally have about 3,000 lectures available to supplement our courses. About the only courses I would be interested in that are not part of GCP are the Vandiver courses. Here are the three reasons why we went with GCP rather than TGC: I figure I save a ton by just spending $180/yr. vs. purchasing each course I want to use separately from TGC. I can mix and match lectures without using complete courses. I can just pick which lectures correspond to our classes. DD is more of a visual learner, so the audio lectures would not work for her. If we had to purchase the video of one single course, we would be spending anywhere from $50 to $300 per course from TGC. That was just too much for us, even with their sales. Now I can pick and choose from a multitude of lectures from many courses at a substantial savings.

luuknam
Comparison of Amazon vs Plus: https://www.thegreatcoursesplus.com/amazonsignaturecollection Does anyone know if there's a list with courses that are on Amazon but not on Plus? Are there any, and if so, which courses? I do like the closed captions (only on Amazon according to this) though...
