  1. Thank you, RootAnn. Where did you find the old threads? I didn't turn up anything on a forum search...although I suppose that is the currently active forum. Anyway, I did find some books that she will like! Thanks!
  2. The best information is based on experience...Thank you! There is not a lot out there for high school students who are interested in architecture. I will share your post with my daughter.
  3. I personally agree with you about the choice of electives being accepted if the core is complete. The "survey" label suggested by JanetC was a good idea (maybe you can find a common thread in what your son actually watches).
  4. Hello, Can anyone recommend a basic architectural drawing course (not using computer software) for an interested 9th grader? Thanks in advance for all suggestions!
  5. Yes, I would be interested in knowing about a size limit as well, particularly for the common application. Do all (core and elective) course descriptions need to be included? Thank you
  6. Our local library has GED prep online. We have not personally used it, but you may want to check this option out.
  7. Udemy.com is having a black Friday sale right now. I purchased a calculus refresher class for my husband, who teaches math to our daughters. Perhaps one of the classes will work for you.. Also, Annenberg Learner has some mathematics workshops/courses for teachers.
  8. Thank you so much for the tip about Quizlet! My student likes it and finds it fun and VERY helpful for studying. It even has a section for correct spelling of terms, which has been a problem area for us, especially some of the complicated terms in Biology.
  9. Thank you! Great tip. We will definitely be using this resource a lot! ETA: They have REA CLEP preparation books too!
  10. Our family is enrolled in Homeschool Connections (recorded option) this year. The history courses by Phillip Campbell have been well received by my history-loving daughter. My daughters are also taking a number of other classes (Spanish with Irma Schmitt, German with Alexis Mausolf, and writing with Erin Conroy are very good as well), but I cannot comment on their science as we are already using various books. I do plan to re-enroll next year to continue foreign languages with the abovementioned teachers, and will likely enroll in the Homeschool Connections chemistry course or their [conceptual] physics because this year has been so successful. So far, I have found Homeschool Connection's courses to be thorough and interesting. I am very pleased with my daughters' progress using this program.
  11. We have concerns about prices of online, AP, etc. courses as well. This year, we are enrolled in Homeschool Connections because of the recorded option ($30.00 per month for unlimited use, no restriction in number of courses) and because it offers so many subjects and the certification/education level of all of the teachers.. The classes are also offered live for those who are interested. My daughters and I think the recorded classes are great. I plan to use this option again next year. It has been a wonderful experience! [edited to add more detail]
  12. Both my daughters and I really like Homeschool Connections (provider of Catholic online live and recorded classes), and I definitely plan to subscribe again next year. The foreign language and writing teachers are amazing, but all of the classes are good. My daughters (8th and 9th grades) have been exposed to and learned a lot since September.
