Good Morning.  Happy Wednesday.  Today we go canoeing/kayaking on the Susquehanna River.  Hopefully we're done before this afternoons thunderstorms.

I’ve always loved the name of that river. The name of the river by me is the Kings. Not very exciting. They named it that because the guy who discovered it did so on Three Kings Day. Hope you have a good time.

Good morning!

I always found 3yos to be the most difficult challenging.

I've been to three stores and most of it is put away.  I was excited to find 2 sets of my drinking glasses at Big Lots for $5 each.  Plus they were on sale - buy one, get one for $1/2. Dh left this morning to spend the rest of the week at camp with the Scout Girls.

The mealybugs are taking over my spent Irises and creeping over to the Black Eyed Susans, which are blooming for the first time.  I wiped them off with rubbing alcohol and then sprayed liberally with neem oil.  My shasta daisies are dead.  Again.  I can't seem to keep them alive for anything.  Sigh.  They are so pretty when they're not dead.

More coffee!

The trip on the river was lots of fun.  We tried to stop on one of the islands for lunch but the mud was deeper and softer than we expected and dd and I lost our shoes.  She lost a new pair of sandals (she only had flipflops and they recommended shoes that strap to feet so we bought new ones for the trip), while I lost ONE of my old sneakers.

I sank in knee deep and almost couldn't pull my one leg out.  It was hard to get enough pull from the canoe.

Still was a fun trip.  But ds was hoping to switch off with me in the canoe, while I took his kayak. Since we ended up not stopping, we couldn't switch and he had to paddle the kayak the entire way.

Shasta daisies stink. Literally. They are very pretty, but not as a cut flower. I love Black eyed Susans and echinacea for cut flowers.

Wow, Toto, that's quite the mud!  Sorry about the sandals.  In a couple hundred years they will be dug up and studied by archaeologists.

Ugh.  I found mealybugs on my lavender!  And a grasshopper.  I clearly need to attract more lacewings and dragonflies into my yard.  I have gone crazy with the neem oil.

The pantry is now cleaned enough that I could sweep the whole floor except for one corner, and we can once again all fit in there in the event of a tornado.  Ds23 got a half day off work, so he was here to help me lift a heavy box. The shelves and cabinet and bookshelf all need to be sorted through and straightened, but now I can get to them all without risking my neck.

The theme for today's meals has been: Leftovers!

Tomorrow we are going to the Hershey Factory Tour, the science museum and out to dinner.  It's supposed to rain all day.  Friday we head home and we're stopping at some caverns on the way home.

This weekend I need to get ready for my camp next week.  Somewhere between 9 and 14 kids are coming.  I haven't done any work on it yet this week.

Two weeks from today the 4-H Fair starts.  I'm a chairperson so I have duties involved in that too.  But I don't have any campers the week of the Fair so that will make things easier.

It's 6pm and I'm already ready for bed.  All that time out in the sun sitting in a canoe was rough.   I think I"m going to order a set of swim tights/leggings to wear when I'm at our lake kayaking.  I already have two long sleeve rash guards (one of which has been getting a lot of use this week).  I want to do more kayaking while the kids are swimming.  It's good exercise and fun.

I tried to get on a scale down in the hotel exercise room which is right next to the guest laundry.   We are going through clothes faster than I expected since we come back to the hotel from being out in the humid 90 degrees and all take a shower.  So we're changing clothes at least twice a day.  So I'm washing clothes.

Anyway, I got on the scale which is one of the doctors-office type ones with the sliding bars.  And it said I was under 100 pounds.   I'm not even under twice that number.   My kids aren't under 100 pounds.    I do want to get to around 150 or 160.

I bought a wide brimmed hat at Hershey too.   To wear kayaking.   We went in the store because ds wanted a hat.  He decided not to buy one but I did.  Then after 5 minutes he took my hat.  Gave it back in the car.   Took it again for the kayaking today.   Now he's claiming it is his.   But he won't wear it swimming so it's mine again when I want to kayak at home.

Long sleeve rash guard, swim leggings and wide brimmed hat.  I'm going to stand out a bit among all the bikinis but I'm okay with that.

I have come to the conclusion that I like the Brave Writer lifestyle but not the products. Please remind me of this if I mention wanting to spend more money on their products. Thank you.

I find some of their stuff hard to use, I need more of a plan.  And then the stuff that is a plan (Arrow, Boomerang) I didn't like and found disjointed.

I really really want to go to sleep but our damn laundry still isn't dry.  The dryers here at the hotel stink.  I'm posting here to keep awake.

I was just coming back to ask how you're feeling.  Hopefully better if you're thinking about school stuff.  (You could probably scan the table of contents for Brave Writer stuff and get ideas from that, but do it your own way.)

Sleeping better. I worked out today trying to get a healthy schedule in place so I'm not drugging myself to sleep.

I'm glad you're having a good trip.

If you know which island you lost your shoes on, I can ask my brother to look for them.  He enjoys fishing on the Susquehanna.

Are you going to the Indian Echo Caverns?  I've been there several times and it is a wonderful place to spend a hot, summer day!

I had a busy day today.  I had to drive to The Big City for a doctor's appointment.  My rheumy wants me to see an orthopedic surgeon/foot specialist about my left foot that is giving me so much trouble.  She told me that I had to see *this* particular doctor.

Also, x-rays of my knee and hip showed that I don't have severe arthritis in either of those joints.  However, I apparently have an abnormality with my hip that is congenital.  Well, I do have a congenital birth defect, so now I'm curious as to exactly what's going on with that.

In other news, we are home from a successful picnic.  And ds18 just asked if he could get something to eat.  I asked why he didn't eat at the picnic.  He said that it was because he didn't want to play volleyball on a full stomach.  Whatever.

Hi Renai!!! (Where’s That waving guy emoji??)

I went to the Afsa after I dropped DS off at the youth group swim party. I hate the Afsa. But I hads to go. Then I came home and had some chocolate chips.  Everyone is coming or going or both this weekend. Middle DD is leaving for camp in Friday, coming home Sunday, oldest DD is going to camp on Sunday and DH is going to S. Korea on Monday. Hmmmm.

I think I will go read a book. I got an interesting book from the library about Christopher Colombus’ son who amassed a tremendous library. It’s called “The Catalogue of Shipwrecked Books.” I got it for the title alone. Isn’t that an awesome title??   https://www.amazon.com/Catalogue-Shipwrecked-Books-Christopher-Columbus/dp/1982111399/ref=sr_1_1?gclid=Cj0KCQjwpPHoBRC3ARIsALfx-_JuLs-i95VINa7XdSUq9Zcx5Gc8qWATNSdw-pDjpyFHBLDCxgdVtfoaAlVEEALw_wcB&hvadid=344588681466&hvdev=t&hvlocphy=9031842&hvnetw=g&hvpos=1t1&hvqmt=b&hvrand=15369584690960771911&hvtargid=aud-649564993678%3Akwd-451199607960&hydadcr=22595_10348272&keywords=the+catalogue+of+shipwrecked+books&qid=1562211072&s=gateway&sr=8-1

Happy birthday!

Our 9,000 year old coffee maker is going out. I'm thinking of switching from a 4 cup coffee maker to a 6 cup percolator. I'll need to do some research before I make a decision. My only non-negotiable is that it has to fit a reusable filter. We have a metal filter and it has been awesome.
