Joanne
And was met in the (remote) parking lot by a dog. He would not let me (or my client!) into the building without him. I was worried about interacting with him too much physically and my client was anxious. He came into my office and took a nap!

hornblower
I try to grab all unleashed ownerless dogs. I have spare leashes in my car and most shelters on speed dial. If it's unsafe to try to catch (traffic or dangerous dog), then I'd call it in right away. Otherwise I grab them, take them home, call the shelters and post ad on Craigslist. I've had them spend the night... Kids and I once once spent hours tracking/chasing a small chi through the suburbs (by car and on foot, through peoples yards. Finally cornered the scared dog in someone's yard). The owners were so grateful they gave us a nice reward (tix to amusement place)

Joanne
I try to grab all unleashed ownerless dogs. I have spare leashes in my car and most shelters on speed dial. I had a psychotherapy client and that person needed my attention at that time. I called my office mate (who is another LPC and the wife of the Pastor of the church) and she lured him outside with meat. ;) He had a collar but no identifying into. The church that hosts my office is in a rural-ish area of a suburb. My guess is he is the happy and cared for pet of one of the homes there. It is not in a subdivided area, but there are scattered homes. Given the fact that I was remote it was dark, and I was alone before and after the client, I did not feel comfortable working with him to contain or find his home. His tail was wagging, he assumed a belly exposed position quickly. He curled up on the couch right away! But my client was anxious about it. My office mate is going to call their maintenance person and work with it.

Liz CA
It's a good sign from above...blessings on you and yours...an angel in form of a dog. Well you can figure me out without much psychotherapy... :)
