m0mmaBuck
with the soothing sounds of Dan Fogelberg!!!! Muah ha ha ha!!!!
Belacqua
I'd turn you in for that, were I not making my own kid listen to Tom Waits. I attempted to torture him the other day with Neil Diamond, but he liked it. What's the fun in that?
AK_Mom4
Mine are barely tolerating Simon and Garfunkle today........
Tammi K
Fogelberg is a favorite here. Even the kids like it. (Well, most of the kids. DD #2 actually intensely dislikes him. She's a musician with no taste in music. Silly kid.)
Freckles
Dan has his own Pandora station at our house. We listen to him everyday!
MooCow
I prefer Michael Jackson, or *gasp* Journey. :)
SwallowTail
Weird, never thought to find another Fogelberg fan, LoL.
Happy
Ah...I love some Dan... I consider moments like this to be teaching the children about the 'classics.' :) You know...the Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, Elvis, the Monkees (oh yes, at my house, yes!) Neil Diamond, Roy Oberson...
VaKim
We all love Dan here, my teenage girls included. Of course, like pp, I have made sure to expose them to all the "classics," and not just those who have been dead for centuries. :) They pretty much like everything I do, and they have introduced me to some really good modern stuff, as well (I didn't think there was such a thing). Mommyfaithe
Mine are barely tolerating Simon and Garfunkle today........ My kids love Simon and Garfunkle since I suggested how cool it would be to play their songs with a hard rock beat. Since then, they have been listening to older folk music with an ear to re-make. bobbeym
We listen to Dan here too. I haven't found music I can torture my kid with yet. He has just as eclectic tastes as I do and likes it all.
AmyontheFarm
I just turn on, "This is the song that never ends..." and they run from the room. If you stay in said room and put on some sound blocking earphones you can read a book quite nicely without children bothering you for an hour! ThisIsTheDay
Our end-of-a-long-drive CD is Partridge Family Greatest Hits. However, dh bans it when he's in the car.
msjones
I can clear the kitchen in a flash just by putting in my John Denver's Greatest Hits CD. Works every time. I'll be trying the Fogelburg!
SKL
Ha ha! Remind me to add Fogelberg to my Christmas list (for myself!). Is it just me or have things changed a lot since we were kids? My kids have very specific expectations of what they "have" to "suffer through" when we're driving. I can't imagine telling my mom or dad what we were going to listen to in their car. LOL. Just a funny - we have a little inside joke here. Often during a conversation, I tell my kids "there's a song like that" and I start singing whatever song came to mind. My singing is a cue for my kids to holler, "please turn on the music!" (meaning shut up and turn on the CD player). :P
dirty ethel rackham
"And it looks like you're going to have to see me again. " I should send this one to my son as he comes home for Thanksgiving.
Tammi K
Ha ha! Remind me to add Fogelberg to my Christmas list (for myself!). His Christmas album is just beautiful! Ask for it or just buy it for yourself as an early gift.
Mrs Mungo
Longer plays on my phone when my dh calls me because we had a really funny argument about it when driving through Switzerland once. I was listening to a Dan Fogelberg tape (yes, we are old) in the car. He said, "can we listen to something else for a while?" I said, "okay, I just want to listen to Longer." He said, "but I don't want to listen to it any longer!"
msjones
Inspired by this thread, I set Pandora to Fogelburg while I cooked this evening and wound up crying into my sweet potato pie filling. It was lovely.

Sherri in MI
Not sorry for your poor kids! So happy to find other Fogelberg fans! Love Dan Fogelberg! Haven't listened to him in years though. Used to have several of his albums (which are long gone), and later his CDs (the only one I remember is Innocent Age) before we were married & dh gave me his greatest hits CD a few years ago for Christmas, but I don't know where any of them are! I saw him in concert in Philadelphia years ago. He was great! Years later I was living in L.A. and was dying to see him at The Greek, but I couldn't make it. I'm going to have to make a Dan Pandora station too! And find my cds. You guys are making me very nostalgic! Not good combined with a big holiday tomorrow and all my family far away!
