nmoira
Yahoo! is shutting down AltaVista. Did you know it still existed?
Slartibartfast
I thought it was shut down long ago.

Spy Car
I remember AltaVista. Haven't given it a thought in years. Had I thought of it, I would have assumed it was gone already. Bill

Lisa in SC
I had no idea it still existed. Of course, I hadn't thought about it either, but if I had, I would've assumed it was history.

Word Nerd
Nope. I heard a comical reference to it on Parks and Rec recently, but other than that I haven't heard anything about it for years.
Orthodox6
I used to search with Northern Light, until it became fee-based. How many of you all remember that one?!

nmoira
I used to search with Northern Light, until it became fee-based. How many of you all remember that one?! No. If I pull my thinking cap down firmly, I can just remember Lycos and Webcrawler, and the terrible alphabetized lists on Yahoo!. And of course, Ask Jeeves. I remember being all pissy in the early days of the web because gopher loaded *so* much faster. Down with Mosaic!
LaxMom
I used to search with Northern Light, until it became fee-based. How many of you all remember that one?! Me! Me! Though I really never used it except to test IP updates. In the last century.

nansk
I used babelfish.altavista.com for a long time, but I never used Altavista itself. I used to prefer Yahoo.
