Looking for a short quote, quip, or scripture for my bathroom wall...

Recommended Posts

We've got a lower ceiling over the bathtub which makes for the perfect place for those fun vinyl letters that I'm seeing all over the place. Just so you can visualize it, you come into the bathroom and directly across from the door is the bathtub/shower. Above the tub we've got about a one-foot by six-foot space.

So I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out what I want to say! I've looked online, and I don't like any of the standard bathroom sayings. (No "put down the seatie sweetie" stuff. :0) The quote, phrase, or scripture needs to be fairly short (maybe 5-10 words?).

I'd love some ideas!

P.S. This is a bathroom remodel: soft yellow walls, yellow and white striped shower curtain, pottery barn looking white cabinet with black/grey counter, chrome accents...

I don't know if you'll go for this but what about:

"Create in me a clean heart O God;...." the rest is "renew a right spirit within me" Psalm 51:10. You could use just the first portion....

You know, going together with getting clean! :)

Or earlier in that passage "Wash me and I shall be whiter than snow"

Somebody used the phrase "Gray is the new blonde" and I said I was going to put that on my bathroom wall, lol!

Here are some Uppercase Living bathroom options (see my sig tag below):

Be yourself: Everyone else is taken.

Beauty comes in all sizes.

Please don't hog the bathroom [with a pig embellishment]

BATHROOM: Please wash your hands.

Yes, you are the fairest of them all.

Wash your hands (mom said so!)

Soap is to the body what laughter is to the soul.

Wash, Brush, Floss, Flush.

Be one in a million, not one of a million.

Good morning, Sunshine

You're never fully dressed until you wear a smile.

Smile

You don't have to brush all your teeth -- just the ones you want to keep.

Watch out for falling bubbles.

Some of those I like, some not so much -- just thought I'd include them all. You can see them via the link below. They come in fancy fonts with fun flourishes. You can custom design any phrase as well.

Hope you find something that you love!

~ Enjoy ~

Well, my first thought was "I aim to please, you aim too, please" But you said nothing of that sort. How 'bout:

Reality is only seen when the mirror is clean. (I don't know the author of this one, sorry)

I believe in getting into hot water- it helps keep you clean. G.K. Chesterson

Better keep yourself clean and bright. You are the window through which you must see the world. George Bernard Shaw

Hmmm, "constipated people don't give a crap" just doesn't seem to fit the whole Pottery-Barn-thing I'm going for.

aw man!!! :D

I kinda like "Good morning, sunshine"...

but what if it isn't morning???

howzabout "Hello Darlin'!" ;)

or "He Reigns!"

or you could paint/ attach that "read between the lines" Jesus thing:

Ok, this is too long, but one of my favorite quotes, lol:

If you keep your feet firmly on the ground, you’ll have trouble putting on your pants!

Another one that is too long:

How long a minute is depends on what side of the bathroom door you’re on.

At the feast of ego, everyone leaves hungry.

When all is said and done, more is said than done

When you feel terrific, notify your face!

It refresheth my soul

Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday

See, and all I can think of is "Pee or get off the pot."

Y'all are much more thoughtful and civilized than I.

Well, actually Pam, It's Piss or get off the pot. Now who is the civilized one?!

Oh, "piss" is *so* much more civilized, so much more King James English.

As in the verse from I Kings -- "And it came to pass, when he began to reign, as soon as he sat on his throne, that he slew all the house of Baasha: he left him not one that pisseth against a wall, neither of his kinsfolk, nor of his friends."

Pisseth has such a nice poetic ring to it. Perhaps she should just stencil that one word. In Gold. Or perhaps a sign and an arrow:

"Pisseth here"

What's the "it" in "it refresheth my soul" though?

I suppose that would be up to the individual. Could be a bar of Dial soap, could be that things are moving properly, could be a smiling face in the mirror, could be a cold shower! :D

I don't know who authored this quote, but I have a beautiful ceramic tile of it hanging in my bathroom:

"And the day came when the pain of staying in a tight bud was greater than the risk it takes to bloom."

It didn't hit me at first how it sounded, until friends would comment on the tile after using the bathroom. Now it is a household joke.
