  1. Sooooo....if I were to get a job in a department store ....and thanks to my talent I was able to prevent losses in the tune of $100,000 dollars.... would it then be ok for me to start taking office supplies and discretionary spending money for my own personal use...trips to the spa...lunches...whatever. I mean, it is money that *I* am allowed to use...to my discretion.... and I *did* save the company thousands of dollars.... so isn't it my right?
  2. Phred... that is not true... EIC and Child Tax Credits...both give a return when none was paid. BUT, they are for the working poor...and *I* don't have a problem with them.... I'm just sayin'...you ARE incorrect here....sorry. :D
  3. Again...MOST of the extremely rich....do NOT work harder and harder...
  4. Most of my family is of the same political persuasion as I am... but for those that are not.... I have found it is best to just refrain. Of course, if they WERE to try and argue it with me I would probably have to resort to plugging my ears and screaming nahanahnahanahanhanhanahana  ETA...I don't have a blog... so I'm safe! LOL
  5. Here in WA we pay over 8.6% sales tax....and that is just in state taxes...how much more would you think we should pay...because, I gotta tell you...I think the idea of sales tax, to replace income tax, sounds INSANE! It would have to be around 30-40% to even come close!
  6. No federal income tax? How do we pay for Interstates...our military...our border control...our government officials...schools...
  7. Then our society would be more balanced. And I don't know if I agree that it's penalizing the successful... for a couple of reasons...a) I don't actually consider inherited fortune a matter of success.... and b) I think the folks that can afford to... have an obligation to society to pay more than those who cannot. But, then, I'm on the same point in the socio-economic-political scale as Ghandi.
  8. Honey, when did you start posting on my board??? Oh, wait...you aren't my husband!?!
  9. I am not talking about ALL the time.... but in cases where they made a decision KNOWING the risks of that decision.... like during a mandatory evacuation... or climbing a mountain.... or any number of other scenarios that my sleep deprived brain cannot think of at the moment...:glare: In THOSE cases....the rescue of those people...while not only being EXTREMELY dangerous for the rescuers... is also VERY expensive. Who should have to pay for that?
  10. I read an article in People about the family...and it showed the tattoo the Mom and some of the other family members got in remembrance of Maria... it was a picture she had started to draw the morning of her death... it was very sweet... such a tragic loss...
  11. I think that things that really bother some people never even cross my radar....
  12. awwww...wouldn't it be awful if they had to sell one of their half dozen mansions? Poor dears...
  13. I hadn't seen this before....thanks for reposting the link...I fall in about the same spot as Ghandi...LOL :D
