FaithManor
Just out of curiosity, could she pop in for a few minutes of diving, or rowing and NOT be wearing pantyhose, suit, or evening gown? Gasp - could she be in a pair of Ann Taylor pants and a cute blouse? I'm just wondering. It has to get old after a while, not being able to be casual outside her own bedroom walls. I'd love to see her in a pair of Gloria Vanderbilt jeans, a rugby, and loafers as a spectator at a polo match! :001_smile: Faith
Caroline
I found some pictures of her from the 70's where she is in pants. There is an article from 2003 that said she was spotted in pants after some knee surgery. Googling Queen Elizabeth Pants brought up some interesting articles about auctioning off her knickers, though. I would love to see her in jeans and a sweater enjoying a pint in a pub. Doubt that ever happens, though.
LibraryLover
She must wear riding pants at Balmoral or Sandringham; where the paparazzi cannot go.
Caroline
She must wear riding pants. But that must be at Balmoral or Sandringham, where the press cannot go. The article did say that she wears riding pants.

LibraryLover
The article did say that she wears riding pants. Well, I'm quite sure she enjoys her special drinks after such a ride. Something warn, and strong, I'd like to imagine.
higginszoo
I think that she only wears trousers at her country houses, mostly when not in public. It's a generational thing, too, I think. I know ladies her age who also only where pants when there's a reason to, just because that's how they were brought up.

Catwoman
I think it's important to her that she always look dignified and present a certain image, and I have always thought she did a wonderful job of it. I'm not sure I want to see the Queen in jeans and a polo shirt, or even dressy slacks and a jacket. She's got that whole "regal queen thing" going for her, and I think a casual look would ruin the mystique. Besides, if she went with the jeans, what kind of hat would she wear? I can't quite picture her in a backwards baseball cap. :tongue_smilie:

mom2abcd
I didn't watch the Opening Ceremonies, but I did get in on a conversation about it. Dh's great-aunt was amazed at the queen jumping out of a helicopter! (I thought, "WHAT?!?!") Others told her it wasn't really the queen, but she said, "It was. I saw her myself." LOL Here it is if you want to watch the video: http://mashable.com/2012/07/27/james-bond-escorts-queen-to-olympics/
