Jeannie in NJ
we were at Disney World from dec. 11 thru the 18th. We got in around 4 pm on Sat and dd and I went to Magic Kingdom, we were like sardines packed in there. Sunday it rained but we all went to Epcot and then MONDAY (the coldest day in Orlando in 50 years !!) we all went to Magic Kingdom. It was so cold, 22 degrees not counting the windchill and there was a arctic wind blowing. I had left my jacket at home so searched and finally found a heavy fleece lining hoodie, I had brought wool hats and heavy gloves for all of us. But we were like walking blocks of ice all day. My dc were pretty much crying to leave soon after sundown (and they are teens so takes a lot for them to almost cry). I had wanted to see the electric parade but was just too cold to stay until 7 for it. Tuesday was cold again so we just spent the day going to see the Christmas decorations at the different resorts. Wed was getting a little better so went to Animal Kingdom, still a little chilly. Thurs was great, we went to Hollywood Studios, the Osbourne Dancing Lights were great. We went to 50's Prime Time Cafe and had so much fun that when we finally left, there were Disney workers waiting outside to escort us out, turned out that we were the VERY last people in the park. They even had to call a bus to pick us up to take us to our resort. Fri, was great weather, went to Epcot again and that night we went into the hot tub, still not quite warm enough to brave the pool. We did have a great time, in spite of the freezing weather. Had some great meals, met tons of great cast members and lots of other people from New Jersey. We have decided that our next trip will be in Oct. no more winter trips for us, the weather is too unpredicable.

stephanier.1765
I hear and feel your pain. I was in the Tampa/St Petersburg area Saturday thru Monday staying at the beach. It was sooooo cold. My ears were about to fall off. But we still walked in the surf even if we did freeze our toesies. And we still walked the beach in the beautiful light from the full moon. I'm sorry you froze at Disney. It definitely is a rare occurrence:tongue_smilie:.
Niffercoo
We were there last week, too (my mom took me and my girls down for our Christmas present)! And so were some friends of ours from NJ! We did the Wizarding World of Harry Potter on Monday during the day and it was so unbelievably cold! We were at Magic Kingdom, too, on Monday night and watched the fireworks and just shivered, even thru all of our layers! Tuesday morning was the worst for us as we had reservations for breakfast at the castle and had to be there at 8 AM! Can you believe my girls rode Splash Mountain after breakfast on Tuesday?? Samiam
Yep, that is Florida in December. Unpredictable. Could be freeeezing or could the most beautiful day, as in 70's!
NanceXToo
I'm glad you had so much fun, despite the cold weather! Wow, I can't believe it was 22 degrees there one day- that's like our Pennsylvania weather now! I remember the first time we went to Florida/Disney around the holiday time in December, when dd10 was just a baby. I was like "ooh we're going to Florida, it'll be warm!" I think we packed like ALL summer clothes pretty much, and I found it COLD there, especially in the evenings/nights! This year, we are going late February/early March. I hope it isn't too cold then! :D
Liza Q
:001_huh: We are going down in two weeks and I am planning to pack the same way I did for our New Years trip to Boston last year!
Jennifer in MI
We were there last year in January and the weather was COLD!!!! I ran the half marathon and it started out snowing, then sleeting during and after the race. It was near freezing for the first half of the week. Our last couple days it finally hit 60 or so. My kids thought I was crazy packing our hats and gloves, but they were SO happy I did! We have pictures of my dd wrapped in blankets in her stroller!!! Thank goodness we were taking a cruise the following week! We got the heat we were looking for! And, we're going to be at Disney the same dates as Liza. It better warm up!!!! ChristusG
LOL, we were there at the same time as you. We wore sweatshirts, coats, mittens, hats, and scarves! I'm from Florida and that was definitely COLD fo us! That Sunday was sort of miserable with the rain and the wind. We left the park early. Mom25girls
I feel your pain!!! We were just in Orlando 12/5-12 and all of the pictures are of my children wearing North Face jackets. LOL! Something weird about Cinderella and fleece... LOL! My girls were in the hot tub and pool (outside) EVERY night (even when it was 46 degrees). Hoping that you thaw soon!!! Dmmetler
I always pack more clothes for FL winter trips than practically any other-because I know good and well that if I pack light weight clothes, I'll need the fleece and vice-versa. Fortunately, we're driving this year :).

DH was chosen as "that guy" on the Laugh Floor! :D We were there the week after Thanksgiving and my DH too was chosen to be "that guy" he wasn't happy either :glare: We actually left the MVMCP because it was so cold. Yet we were also there during some record highs! Talk about a weather change! Gotta luv the South and our "winters" My sister was there last week, they FROZE she said! They also all had a nasty stomach flu, including my 20 month old neice.
DawnM
Tell her, if she doesn't already know, that it went all around Disney, primarily at the Resorts if she was staying in one. People were reporting tons of vomit all over MK and one person reported diarrhea in line for Buzz! EWWWW!!!!!!!! Jeannie in NJ
oh no the stomach flu. We have been back since Sat. nite and are well, hopefully will continue to be well. When, we were checking in our luggage, we had only taken 2 bags because of the cost and they were both stuffed and one weighed 7 lbs. over which would have cost us , I believe 100 dollars extra. The other bag was smaller and under 50 lbs so right in front of the checked luggage area, we had to re-arrange our belongings and repack the 2 suitcases. Dh had an extra pair of heavy shoes that he ended up putting in his carry on with his computer.

My DH asked me how many times I was going to re-arrange the suitcase  I have a pretty good idea at what 50lbs of clothes looks like and since we were only checking one bag, I did re-arranging until we walked out the door. When we checked out, because we had to put J's "light saber" in our checked luggage, we we literally over 4ozs. The CM just laughed at us and said not to worry about it :D

When we were there people were starting to get sick but *wow* the amt of people I have heard being sick this past week is :001_huh: It seems like it is all over the resorts, values to deluxe. Rhonda in TX
You were there at the exact same time as my friends. They always go in October, but wanted to go in December to see the Christmas lights. She has said, "Never again!" They had fun, but the weather was absolutely miserable for them. Oak Knoll Mom
We have decided that our next trip will be in Oct. no more winter trips for us, the weather is too unpredicable. That might not be much better. We went in October of 2009 and it was almost 100 degrees and 90% humidity. People told us it was hotter that it had been in August. Can't win for losing. :D

I just wanted to give you a head's up about October though. It's still within hurricane season and it's not uncommon to have a hurricane in October if it's been an "active" year. Just so you know. :) November is actually the best month to go to Disney IMHO. The weather is perfect. :)

We got back on Saturday, and Sunday my older daughter threw up twice. So far, the rest of us have been fine, but I got my Christmas grocery shopping done on Sunday just in case.
